I've been lvling an archer on Trabia, am I to assume that all the classes are equally dull and almost carbon copies of each other?

Yes. As of right now, pretty much all of the jobs are redundant and hold no specific role or uniqueness that makes the job shine above others. As archer, you can pretty much win by spammnig arrows and throwing in your occasional cure here and there. Hell, even in a party, assuming you've levelled up high enough to learn raise, you can even raise your party members as archer!

The whole class system will be seeing a huge overhaul soon, so the dull and redundant actions that you currently see will soon be a thing of the past. That, of course, is what we hope.

For the most part yeah, but like I said the job adjustments is more than liking coming soon since he was talking about adding dungens shortly after.

Decided to lvl a lancer and i'm rank 11! Oh, and I found a linkshell. I was so happy to see real people in my chat log for once. Trabia doesn't seem to have a very large english community, but maybe that's every server haha.

It pretty much is that way for every server. Also you'll love LNC when you learn Feint, one of the best abilities to have for DoWs.

I've actually been frustrated with lancer lately. I throw a lot of points into DEX and I still wiff a large amount of the time... which is a pain in the ass when i'm soloing leves and there are 3+ mobs on me and I have to burn one down asap.. so, I'm eyeing archer up right now... lol

Oh, no wonder why. I actually started a pugilist. It's insanely powerful.

I am playing Pugilist right now (Lv 11), I played Alpha and beta as Lancer and I liked Lancer alot however I wanted a new experience.

I like Pugilist except for I think the attack animations are horrendously out of sync and poorly timed, same with the special attack animations.
Also, the fact that NPCs dont sell any weapons for Pugilist between 1-19 lol. That was so frustrating. In alpha they sold like lv 1 - 6 - 12 - 16 - 20 and I liked that. Then Beta hit and it is like it is now.

I actually lvled a pugilist to 21 and an archer to 19 since my previous post and I can agree that watching my Elezen fight with fist weapons is like watching a fish flap around on land. I enjoyed the class until I started realizing it wasn't a monk, which isn't a bad thing, but it feels a lot more like a tank than a DD... or a class that glads level to get an extra taunt. So, I'm back on my lancer... hopefully for good. Finding a class has been a balancing act between what is needed in the endgame (pugilists are like nonexistent i hear, whereas archers are a dime a dozen) and that I can actually enjoy playing. I'd have liked to have leveled a glad but being the only tanking class in-game right now, I can only imagine how many there must be.

Oh, Corrderio, I'm guessing you're in Rancor. Are they still recruiting anyone above R30? My linkshell is kind of a bummer.

Nah, I'm not in Rancor. I'm in a social shell called "Fated Children" and an event shell called "Mercs Plus One" that's mostly just a group of close knit friends.

Ah, I see. I'm just looking for a shell where the members actually speak to one another without it feeling like I'm pulling teeth.

Fated isn't too bad, not saying it's active all the time though.

FFXIV is shaping up, but it's still not quite to the good stage. I mean, if you have even one other person you can duo with, I find it really fun and awesome. However, when I solo past level 20, I feel like I'm soloing in FFXI during the ToAU era as a BLM in Sea. Yeah, the XP is good, yeah, it's easy, but it's just boring. Luckily I found a guy who is my level and likes to duo, so we pretty much static.

OP, it's not as bad as it was at launch, or how you make it out to be, by any means. There is no random SP gains, it's static now. There are a few fluff quests here and there. The lag is nowhere near as bad as it was at launch. Mob placement is better, and I'm sure there are a ton more things that I'm not remembering at the moment.

I find it strange that people forget that when FFXI first launched in Japan there were 5 jobs and low level cap and minimal content. Just over a year later when ROZ expansion was released along with the US release the game was different. I imagine that if we bought the first version of the game in Japan in may of 2002 there would be a lot of the same questions being raised. I just hope SE follows there example of how they can expand on a game like they did in FFXI, although they definitely have more to do this time around.

Trolling aside, this game really isn't in any shape to compete with the upcoming MMOs :/ Judging from whats going on still, if they still kept this game from being released (like they should have and thank god they did for PS3), this game would still not be in any condition for a real release
