While I love playing MNK, I don't fully understand your statement.

MNK has been the premiere DD for a long time, Abyssea or not. The only reason SAM was regarded as so good was because any retard can pack on STR and hit their Gekko macro once in a while. Given appropriate buffs, MNK could keep up with and beat any job in nearly every situation.

I wanna know what kinda damage over time is being considered....I'm nothing special and I still double-triple SAM's damage per hit, and now pretty much any 2H user is swinging with comparable speed. It looks like all SAM has going for it is self-skillchaining, and that isn't so impressive inside abyssea. Outside, sure.

Also, I don't know about BLU being so far down the chart....when I put on Minikin Monstrosity, I'm basically holding back an unlimited flood of murder. I find there's way less reason to be afraid of anything when you're a BLU, kind of like how RDMs and NIN/WHMs were the only common jobs you'd see out soloing years ago. I'd put BLU right at the top of DD due to safety and flexibility of the job.

You don't put a job on top of the DD lists because of other unrelated shit, you put them on top of the list because they do the best damage. BLU does not. That said, self skillchaining doesn't change value whether or not you're in abyssea, what the fuck are you smoking?

insert blanket statements.

war has been the king of pure raw dd power since raging rush was made a crit based ws + 2hand buff. honorable mention to king's justice when you couldn't get that 50 dDex (now hi2u ukko's)

Sam has always been strong, the advent of cors (chaos roll mostly for penta) and making penta spam so ungodly strong (not just on birds) was huge for the job. Now with fudo, outside abyssea sam is still very strong. But the same old thing that hurt it in the past still does. Lack of raw melee dmg.

relic drk got access to capped haste and could compete, drk tanking prospered and there was much joy in the drk world, then CE/VE nerfs hit + abyssea, then got shit kicked by razed ruins, now is making a comeback with the LR fix.

Mnk can compete but not beat a war in terms of raw damage, but mnk brings is the ability to tank better than any other pure dd job (drk can tank but not nearly as effectively), and i've played with one of the better mnks for a very long time i've seen the job pushed to its limits.

Drg finally got out of "lol" status with drakesbane, a very good DD job solid in both terms of raw melee dmg and ws dmg, having a great mix of both. (mythic lance is broken as fuckkkkkk) and with said mythic lance can compete for the most dmg in the game.

thf: after some nice boons to the job thf can do adequate dmg, still won't get them out of the middle of the road.

Nin: imo Blade: hi saved the job upper middle imo.

pup: i want to bash it so bad but I just can't. It won't beat out any of the mainstay jobs but it certainly has gotten a lot better.

rng: hey somebody's gotta claim dark ixion~ i miss rng a lot. dead job

bst: finally they fixed the damn 100% pet pdt, still a token job.

blu: utility, utility, utility

pld: R.I.P. deader job.

let the flames commence~

You can do a boatload of damage and immediately die, and WARs & DRKs can already manage that well enough. As far as I'm concerned, a DD lying in the dirt isn't as useful as one that's alive and kicking.

I haven't seen Samurai do as impressive damage with SCs as I've seen Blue Mages do without top-tier weapons. Also, BLUs can spam a multitude of spells that each do 1-2k damage in rotation, and reliably heal themselves quite frequently. Sure, RR and Apoc Atmas are comparable, but since BLU can do this without putting too much effort into gear, I don't think the job is all that shitty.

Ugh, necrobump.
