Wow, people I used to play with. I pop in every now and then on ffxi but real life takes most of my time now. heh. It's fun to talk to people, I wander around and visit old places I used to spend hours. It's kind of awesome to experience it that way, try leveling in the new areas / instances, it's kind of awesome. To say I want to play all the time now? That has passed.
Old school Leviathan players..?!

Was doing some reading on FFXIV and decided to pop back in here for a second. I miss when this game first came out and the overall community and excitement of it all. I am sitting here looking at this sealed copy of the Vana'diel Collection I got way back when...miss MMOs, but just can't bring myself to do it again. I don't even have a copy of my old ID so I am not sure if my character could even be renewed. Not to mention the whole level 99 thing is a turn off.

Well we decided to give it a try again and I must say the game is so different. Exp grinding is non-existent, and I mean that, I am talking a matter of hours for 75 to 95 and just a few short days for 1 to 95. However, the game is more fun now. If anyone wants to come back, hop on to the Ragnarok server and look for Evandis (had to change my name) and Alexika, we got a friendly social/event linkshell willing to take you in as well.

It's good to see some familiar people. Phatz! How have you been doing? Feh, your post is like months ago but I hope you're reading this. I do miss FFXI and its community but I have no desire to return to the game at all. It was good while it lasts. It will always have a place in my heart.

Dragonix, I couldn't have put it better myself. I still have a character on leviathan and I did come back to get to level 90, but the game just isn't the same.
It will definetly hold a place in my heart. Some of the best times as a gamer I will never forget. Still joke around today with my RL friends that played with me, there were some classic moments.
To be honest I've been searching for a new game to replace FFXI, but no one has time to devote to such a long MMO.
WoW seems to be the only thing close in terms of staying power and a sense of awesomeness, but only because it is so easy to be a casual player.
I hyped up and bought FFXIV, but it was such a huge letdown its actually sad. It could possibly have been the next good thing. It will never make a comeback no matter how much they make it like FFXI because on launch it failed miserably and I don't think anyone will give it a second chance.
Now I'll just have to wait and see if Phantasy Star Online 2 will live up to PSO ver.2 for dreamcast.... I can hope.
Many of the names I see are frozen as distant memories now... cruia as PLD, yoshizz the RNG with his damn gun instead of Ebow ,dragonix as a monk in dynamis bastok, schlomo and cryton as one of the few lv 75 warriors main, meiyu summoner? pretty sure we didn't get along, tetsuo black mage... and so many more that I'm sure look here every couple of years or so.
What a great game FFXI was.

Do you realize how casual friendly FFXI is right now?
So far me and one other person have collected 20% of his relic currency from scratch.. in 2 months, without even trying about 2-4 days a week.
There is so much content in FFXI right now that anyone who wanted to literally do, see, farm, level everything in the game would take 100 years. People need to wake up and realize that this is the age of low man friendly welcome all new comers, and just play whenever you feel like it, and have FUN!
I just don't know, it's not a job and it doesn't have to be in order to progress at anything you so choose to do. All content allows all players of the game to make some sort of progression.
My 2 cents I guess.

Wow, talk about nostalgia. This game is still my favorite mmo and I'm still fond of my memories playing even though in all honesty, we all wasted a lot of time playing it lol. I remember Cruia and Dane, loved you guys =)

Stumbled upon this thread while I was looking back at old OrangeMilkshake memories. I recognize a lot of names here. I think I was kind of an asshole way back when, but I thrived on the sense of community and pointless drama we all used to have. Well, since FFXI I've put 6 years into the Air Force, got out last summer, and am now burning through my GI bill. I guess I do get a lot of time currently to try out new MMORPGs, but none have captured me like FFXI originally did. I get the urge to reinstall every so often, but then I remember the hassle of using the windower, setting up my XML files for equipment macros, ugh....and apparently there's a new level cap. Maybe one day.

I took a impromptu hiatus, while playing one night I asked myself why I was playing cause I was bored. I picked up Demon's Souls the day after and couldn't put it down. Been playing Dark Souls lately, it's pretty awesome. I'm planning on coming back, but in no rush. If they cancelled my content ID oh well I guess.

I don't think, even with all the changes that I could or would ever come back. Nostalgia does kick in once in a while but I prefer to leave this sleeping dog alone. I prefer to keep all memories I've had of it where they are instead of opening a whole new chapter. I tried a couple time to "come back" and I notice less and less people who I knew before. I tried FFXIV but as it turned out, most of the warnings were true though I wanted to find out for myself. I will try 2.0 but I'm more or less waiting for Diablo III as I'm starting to get really bored with WoW as well... accomplished everything in that expansion.
