I quit shortly after ToAU had been released. Has much changed for Sams? Forgive me for not searching through tons of stickies, but it's been so many years that I'm sure it'd be a bit easier, right now anyway, if I just got a brief idea of what I might be in for.

wow, just looked myself up on ffxiah and the last thing I bought was in september of 2007. lol

Some basic info that might help: I was one upgrade away from a full relic GK. Hauby +1, Kirin's Osode, Af+1 set, ummmmm....Hagun, that multi-hit GK from that bomb guy in CoP, blah blh blah. I know they raised the level cap, so I'm not sure how useless any of that stuff is anymore.

I'm more concerned with weather or not we're still viable for endgame stuff.

SAM is regarded as a pretty bad DD currently. It would be the best if it had a crit WS.

in other words: level warrior

if abyssea: war>nin>>>mnk

why: unique red staggers (shadow of death, freezebite and ei) are crucial to long-term success, while blue staggers (monk's niche, so to speak) all-around are manageable regardless of job at any given time, via ten trillion mules available these days

If you have mules abound sure, WAR has more versatility in non-blue, but MNK is going to perform better in any low man situation due to not requiring plays to swap jobs for blue stagger (thus keeping them around) and the hugely increased survivability.

hugely increased survivability would be a relevant matter if 3k hp bars and unlimited mp didn't exist, but they surely do in there (sadly), and like i said, mules handle blue, not actual characters, but if the justification was, say, one person dual boxing, generally the only few blue-related rare/exclusive drops worth a dang are going to leave you desiring treasure hunter as well to insure the drop (effectively making you bring another person and/or character that could just go mnk/thf anyways in the first place)

i know it sounds pretty pretentious, but seriously, that's about the jist of it tbh
