Just wondered if anyone has the new Alienware M17x R3 laptop and plays FF14 on it, basically does it run it well? Are their any specific settings of ff14 that are optimum for the machine that users have discovered?
The only specs I increased were the RAM to 6gigs and a 750gig sata 7200rpm HDD - kept the already powerful GTX 560M that comes standard and the i7 four core intel processor (2620QM).
Thank you^^

(I'll obviously benchmark it once it arrives in the post but nice to know if anyone has some hands on experience they can share with me).

Should run it more than fine. Only noticeable upgrade you'll find is upgrading to an SSD.

Just received the laptop yesterday and installed ff14 - I have to say I'm having to turn down some settings in ff14 config menu and on the nvidia menu; kind of mid-to-high settings at the moment. The game is smooth running and responsive however it still jolts here and there on camera movements, like a freeze frame. Is that simply SE's graphics programming being shit... and again with the inability to tab out to our desktop's is insane, for fuck's sake I'm stunned they still have that problem.

Anyways, yeah it ought to run it but I assume its the game, not the machine?

At least when I was in beta (I know a lot has changed but still) I was having FPS issues at even low settings. The only major difference was that I had from your system was a 450GS video card but 8gb of ram at the time. Should have ran the game much better than just below average and I haven't had a problem running other games that are newer, so that leads me to believe it's the game and not the system.

i have mine with a pretty basic setup, i only upgraded a few things. i dont have a problem running FFXIV at all. i think the only things i turn off is like shadows and really basic things just cause i really dont need them anyways. depending on where you start youll lag also, Limsa Limasa has a tendency to lag basically anygame due to the weather there and for some reason the town itself lags a lot also. otheres i REALLY havent noticed it at all including very densly populated areas.
