What would make FFXIV more fun or playable?
If you quit what would bring you back?

Honestly i find nothing addicting about the game, nothing to hold my intrest. I keep trying to comeback but theres no motivation to play again.
Now if it were more like LOCO, Dragons Nest, or Vindictus with the Action MMO Fighting style i think it would be more fun. Also i think this is what they were trying to do with the original combat but failed miserably

I'm in the same position you are. Except I've broken down and gone back to playing WoW. In the back of my mind I keep hoping one day this game will eventually be worthy of my time, but as of now, it isn't. There's just not enough content.

I'd have to say that if a raid came out and endgame was fleshed out a lot more than it is now, I would find that a good reason to at least come back until I finished that. The problem with the dungeon they released (which everyone is finished with already) is that once you get all the gear you need from it, there's absolutely nothing to do with it other than parade it around in Ul'dah.

Another thing to think about is the fact that Guild Wars 2 and TOR will be out soon as well. I'll be playing GW2 the day it comes out, and at that time I'm not even going to be thinking of FFXIV anymore. I don't really think keeping this game alive was the best decision for SE, considering.

Yoshida not going through with his ideas on endgame:

Quote

Allow me to lay down a scenario. A small group of hardcore players will skip sleep or the need to eat and jump into a high level battle right after it is released. These players will then be the first to obtain a shining rod that has devastating powers and can only be equipped by a black mage. Other players will gaze at these hardcore players with aspiration. However, in 3 months time, a solid strategy will be formulated and the difficulty level of the battle content will be adjusted too, allowing players “who cannot put their entire life into gaming” to eventually obtain the shining rod. On the other hand, the next battle content will arrive by that time and hardcore players will be able to continue challenging themselves. This is the ideal cycle for highest level items in end-game MMORPGs. (This is Final Fantasy so we plan on putting in slightly unusual features for items like Excalibur)

We believe that by overcoming content that is extremely difficult, restricted by level and class (job), and have low drop rate, players can achieve a true sense of accomplishment and superiority. This is also a unique characteristic. Please consider high level crafter recipes to fall under this category as well. (Of course, this will not mean that all recipes are going to)

Honestly, if they quit dicking around. They removed anything that made this "final fantasy". I was noticably pissed off about the class names, and selection. They also released a game well before it needed to be even know I feel it is alpha stage at best.

I'd come back if they weren't going to make me pay to play with that subscription fee. Not that I'm cheap, but fucking paying that much for a game that flopped the first time around.

If they made it FFXI-2, I'd come back. Obviously accounting for a complete rehaul of the game to make it look and feel like XI. Other than that? Don't think I'll even give 2.0 a glance.

Nothing; quit playing Online MMO's and make your own game or be apart of another production and say; LOOK I didn't fail like SE did.

Smartest post in this this thread.

The more I read about 2.0, the less hope I have for this game. All we've heard about 2.0 so far is it will be a bit more open for mods/other features and easier on lower tier systems. Not once have we heard how 2.0 will change combat. Unless SE can fix class balance and make make combat interesting instead of this "stay glued to the same spot" bullcrap like lolFFXI had, this game isn't going to be anything but a haven for retarded fanboys in deep denial or will put up with shit for the "good times" SE gave them years ago.
