A new thread has been started in the Updates section of the official forums. The title of the thread is as follows:

* The following revisions, planned for patch 1.19, are still in development, and therefore subject to change.
  • The time displays found under the Timers tab (accessed via the main menu >> Attributes) will be changed as follows:
    Day and hour values will cease to be displayed upon falling to zero.

  • The following changes will be made to player inventories:
    • The optimal levels of items will appear in different colors as below based on the difference between them and your character's level:
      • Posted Image Six or more levels above character level
      • Posted Image Equal to or up to five levels above character level
      • Posted Image Up to five levels below character level
      • Posted Image Six or more levels below character level
    • Item names will be color-coded based on rarity.

    • Grand Company seals will be displayed under the Currency tab.
  • When browsing gear offered by vendor NPCs or retainers, the attribute differences between your currently equipped gear and that being viewed will be displayed.
  • Maps brought up via tha journal will display the same markers as when viewed via the main menu.
  • Guildleve icons will display the class to which they correspond.

  • The following options will be added to the Configuration menu and its sub-menus:
    • System
      • Toggle Macro Bar
        If the macro bar is hidden while the function is toggled on, pressing Ctrl will bring up the Ctrl user macro bar. Pressing the same key again will hide the bar.
        * This function will also apply to the Alt user macro bar.
        * Corresponding text command:
        /macrobar, /mbar
        USAGE: /macrobar [subcommand]
        Sets preferences for when to show and hide the macro bar.
         >>Subcommands
         on Activate the user macro bar toggle display function.
         off Deactivate the user macro bar toggle display function.
         Toggle between on and off when no subcommand is specified.
         * The default setting is off.

    • Target Settings
      • Target Engaged Enemies Only
        While this setting is toggled on, players can target enemies in the following manner:
        • If the targeting mode is set to A or C (the "All" target filter is selected) while in active mode, only enemies you are currently incurring enmity from will be targetable.
        • If the targeting mode is set to B and the "Enemy" target filter is selected, only enemies you are currently incurring enmity from will be targetable.
        * Corresponding text command:
        /battletargetmode, /btmode
        Switch to a targeting mode that targets only engaged enemies.
        USAGE: /battletargetmode [subcommand]

         on Activate Target Engaged Enemies Only feature.
         off Deactivate Target Engaged Enemies Only feature.
         Toggle between on and off when no subcommand is specified.
         * The default setting is off.
        The new text command /battletarget (/bt) will allow players to target the nearest enemy among those they are currently incurring enmity from.
        * The text macro can be used regardless of targeting mode.

    • Chat Log
      • /tell Sound Effect
        While set to on, a sound effect will play upon receiving a /tell.

        * Corresponding text command:

         on Play a sound effect when receiving a /tell.
         off No sound effect will be played upon receiving a /tell.
         * The default setting is off.

      • Spam or malicious /say, /shout, or /tell messages
        Players will be able to filter spam and malicious messages while the above settings are on.
      • Font Size
        Players will be able to set the font size (small, medium, and large) of each chat window.

      • The following new settings will be added to the Targeting tab.
        • Target nearest (from left)
        • Target nearest (from right)
        • Toggle target filter
        • Toggle target filter (reverse)
        • Target Engaged Enemies Only
      • Fixed Key
        Players will be able to map functions to previously fixed keys.
        * The following keys will remain fixed.
        • 0 -9
        • /
        • ScrollLock
        • PrintScreen
        • Pause
    • Audio
      • Voices
        Adjust voice volume.
      • Ambient Sounds
        Adjust ambient sound volume.
      • Restore Defaults
        Restore default settings in Audio configuration.

        Adjust the camera speed.

        Restore default settings in Camera configuration.
  • The UI lock function has been added to the micro menu*.
    * The set of icons in the lower right of the screen.
    • UI Lock
      • Toggle on and off by clicking the icon in the micro space menu.
      • While set to on, the position and size of UI elements will be locked.
      • Positions and sizes of UI elements will be saved locally when the lock is toggled on.
      • The setting applies globally to all UI elements.
    * Corresponding text command:
    /uilock »subcommand»
    Prevents movement of resizing of UI elements.
     >>Subcommands
     on Lock the position and size of all UI elements.
     off Unlock the position and size of all UI elements.
     Toggle between on and off when no subcommand is specified.
     * The default setting is off.

  • System text accompanying certain emotes will receive adjustments.
  • It will be made possible to lift target lock by pressing cancel.
    * Switching to passive mode will not lift target lock.

  • While Auto Target Lock (accessed via the main menu » Configuration » System) is set to on and your character is in active mode, target lock will be activated automatically upon selecting a target.
    * Target lock can be canceled via the Esc key or the cancel button on the gamepad.
    * Switching to passive mode will not lift target lock.

  • The text command "/display main" will be made to hide your weapon and/or tool from other players as well as yourself.
    * This is the fully implemented version of the feature introduced in patch 1.18a.

  • The experience points you earn will be displayed above your character.
  • The color tone of the minimap will be adjusted to improve the visibility of the character's field-of-view.
  • Objects such as aetherytes and summoning bells will be made directly targetable.
  • The following new placeholders have been added:
    Placeholders - Function
    • <stpc> Display a target cursor to select player characters only
    • <stnpc> Display a target cursor to select NPCs only
    • <stenemy> Display a target cursor to select enemies you can engage
    • <stenmity> Display a target cursor to select enemies you have incurred enmity from

    • <lastat> The last character that attacked you
  • The following new entries have been added to the in-game auto-translate dictionary:

    • Tactics - Pull enemy over.
    • Tactics - Drawing enemy over.

    • Questions - How come?
    • Game Terms - Grand Company Quest

  • The following changes will be made to Gamepad settings in FINAL FANTASY XIV Config:
    • A gamepad diagram will be added.
    • The layout will be changed.
    • The Default Settings and Clear Settings buttons will be added.
    • A toggle option for the micro space menu will be added.
      Mapping this function to a button on your gamepad will allow you move the cursor to the micro space menu.
      * The cursor will not move to the micro space menu during targeting.
      * The function to bring up the emote list will be abolished.
    Along with the above changes, a dialogue window to set gamepad settings will be displayed at the Character Creation screen upon logging in to the game for those who have not done so in the Gamepad configuration menu. Help messages will be displayed the first time you configure the gamepad.

I seem to remember FFXI being quite or nearly as bad as XIV was on JP launch (not saying thats an excuse). The game will get to were it needs to be eventually, at least they're trying to do something about it.

Now, all they need to add are my <call> commands and I'm happy =P.

They are, PC version is beta xD. I can see them doing a full re-launch for PS3 (maybe including a demo of Versus XIII as an incentive) and act like the whole PC launch never happened.
