I'm very interested in starting up FFXIV, especially with all of the changes coming in the next year. I would like to have an account rollen for when 2.0 comes. However, I'm unsure where exactly to get this game. I don't care to have a physical copy, but I obviously need a key from somewhere.

I don't know anyone who got the collector's Edition, but I'd gladly take a buddy key if anyone has one, if not the $20 isn't a big deal.

Who still sells this game, though? I've went around to all the local retailers and they say this game isn't being sold right now...which is a bit of a disappointment.

As far as I know, SE does not provided a digital download for FFXIV. I would guess that once 2.0 is out you'll be able to get it on steam.
If you cant wait for shipping you could search for a torrent, but you'll still need a key. You can try searching for sites that sell keys but that's all on you.
A how-to on installing the torrent and manually patching it can be seen here. (the article is by a moderator over at ffxiah.com there is also a link to a site that sells keys)
