Somewhere something was said about it starting with "R", based on that some speculation is that its a Rune Knight.
We should hopefully find out later tonight during Dev Talk Session 2.

I just don't know how either of these jobs are really going to be new.

Geomancer gets spells that are basically Blackmage spells with different names.

Rune Fencer gets spells that are basically Redmage spells with different names.

Still curious to see if they do something right for once though and make them interesting.

New jobs are nice, but we all know everyone will just burn their way to 99. They should just be 99 when you unlock them.

With so many jobs they should just make the select your job sceen like marvel vs capcom

Speculation:

Both Geomancer and Mystic Knight have offensive and defensive use in basically all of their incarnations. Essentially, I would expect Rune Fencer to have a similar role in a party or group as Dancer: True melee DD class(as opposed to a WHM or RDM) who are able to contribute a significant amount of support.

Geomancers have been given the ability to do damage AND debuff an enemy with the same spell in several past games. So they may have typical black magic spells with the effects of debuffing spells like a thunder spell that can stun. Maybe they have spells that control the effect of weather as well---Yes, I know Scholar already has a spell like that but how many other Scholar spells also belong to other mages? Another common theme in recent geomancers is magic buffs that either increase elemental resistances or increases elemental damage. I guess they would probably be similar to Corsair, able to contribute significant damage on their own while buffing the entire party.

In FFTA2, Geomancers had the best defense and magic defense of all the Gria classes. So maybe Geomancer could even be a mage tank using spells like Stoneskin and Blink to mitigate damage. Like I said, just speculation.

Rune Fencer could also have spells like Stoneskin and Blink but also have access to more tank like armor with good defenses. Past Rune Fencers were able to mitigate opponent spell damage and with enough abilities, they could mitigate a significant amount of physical damage? They were never given Paladin like heavy armor but they were always given typical melee armor. Considering how good a Red Mage is at being able to mitigate damage, its not unthinkable to say they could as well. Maybe they'd even get blaze/ice/shock spikes as well.

FYI: theres an elemental buff for every element: fire-blaze spikes, water-aquaveil, thunder-shock spikes, earth-stoneskin, wind-blink, ice-ice spikes, dark-dread spikes, light-reprisal. How would they keep hate? I don't know. And maybe they wont even get any defensive spells. XD

On the spellblade side, they were given debuff spells like blind enchantment which is kind of useless if it acted just like the spell. Maybe the debuffs would be a weakened version that enhances with each hit: enblind gives a blind effect that decreases accuracy by .5% with each strike up to a given cap. They have a similar system with the enspell 2, having increased damage with each strike. And remember how enlight/endark have an accuracy/attack bonus respectively?

I haven't played since the level cap was 85 so some of this stuff might be useless given the way the game is played now anyway. :/

I feel like Rune Knights will have items used to cast spells, like Ninja have tools...only they will be runes lol.

Greetings,
I’d like to take a moment to clarify which platform Seekers of Adoulin will be available on for those that have been asking. We will continue to support North American FINAL FANTASY XI players on the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and PC (Windows) platforms. However, FINAL FANTASY XI: Seekers of Adoulin will only be available on the Xbox 360 and Windows platforms in North America when it is released in 2013.
