Anyone wanna name a job that is used/need in all the CoP missions?

Black Mage, Red Mage, and Summoner (though I'm biased towards SMN since I've got a kickass SMN in my CoP group and we always clear BC's when we fight together)

All but about 3-4 battles in CoP can be manaburned. Ninjas do really well too given that some Paladins may find it difficult to not consume a lot of their mages' MP.

Probably the worst, and by 'worst' I mean you can't just zerg through the missions ZM-style, jobs for CoP are Thief, Dragoon, and to a certain extent White Mage. There are a number of BC battles where you need to kill things very, very quickly (Snoll Tzar being the worst example) and none of those jobs have 2hr abilities that are well suited to heavy offensive damage. PLD/WAR can be a tough sell for a lot of the BC battles as well, but I've made it through all of CoP (Ch 2 Promyvions excepted) as a PLD/WAR so it certainly can be done.

Getting back to the topic at hand. For Glory - Erica's CoP Guide has been my bible for the last few weeks as I've but the afterburners on to finish up CoP from Chapter 5 onwards. (just finished tonight, w00taru!) Well written with lots of good pictures and info, these folks know their stuff. Additionally, it shows a lot of good tactics to use when employing a Paladin tank.

I've found a lot of early CoP guides make out a lot of the BC battles to be way harder than they actually are. I think this is due in part to the early adopters who finished up CoP nearly a year ago wanting to secure their place as the "elite" players in the FFXI community. By relaying how hard a battle was they make their accomplishments seem much greater to those who have not attempted themselves.

One last thing about CoP: DON'T CHEAP OUT ON MEDS!

I cannot emphasize this enough. Getting through CoP means you have to be determined, have a hell of a lot of drive to slog through some difficult and boring missions, and spend a lot of Gil. Buy more meds than you think you need. If you don't use them, great; save them for your next mission or you can just sell them back to the AH. The quickest way to lose a battle is to come unprepared and understocked on medications. Winning a battle and moving on may be the difference between bringing 5 Hi-Potions and 15.

I have an issue regarding the Dem, Mea, and Holla Promys.

Does anyone think it'd be easier for a whole alliance of people to get to the burning circle instead of just 6 people? I've heard the excuses as having more than a 6 man party would be stressful to lug around, but would it be easier to take on any mobs in the way rather than risking sneaking around trying not to catch aggro and dying?

I'm suggesting this because I've heard times if someone dies during a 6 man promy run they whine and disband leaving the rest of the PT stranded. At least with an alliance you have more people there instead of regrouping and starting all over. I would think low lvl Promy runs would be easier, especially when you have people new to these and have no clue where to go.

A lesson I've learned that you'll need skilled people, lots of medicine, the good anima, and maybe a couple SMNs to win these runs. I'm a newb to these myself, but still. I'm sure people who did this before had to figure it out themselves, but some experienced players would be a major asset for these runs.

True story: On my first run we had the unfortunate happen when we found out our WHM was a RMT sleep.gif. Talk about bad communication and PT skills.

I don't want to sound like a dick but PLD rock for CoP fights. Admittedly I'm only up to 4-3 but every fight I've won has been with me or another person on PLD. Every NIN tank we've tried has dropped faster then a RNG/WAR pulling hate.
PLD tanks i'm 1/1 on all fights.. NIN tanks ... 0/9 attempts. NINs only used post Promies.
