Subbing war with dark knight

#1

Ok im lvl 30 with warrior subbed :love i just have a few questions about berserk and last resort. now i know the trick with last resort/2hr but can I do last resort/beserk and make the dmg outragous or would it counter the 2. I haven't tried it what i have been doing is pacing it out [berserk in one fight, last resort the next and by the time that battle is finished i can berserk again.] any start on how you guys do it? any thoughts/comments will help, anything to make a better drk =)

I know i take hits like my grandma in the boxing ring. I always tell them that i only voke when the mob is going for the mages or when the tank is EXTREMLY low. I will sub thief around 50 or so but i just did everything all over again with my drk, im not in the mood to deal with people screaming and bit**ing about getting a skull in the dunes. and subbing war gives the attack a boost too. but anyway off the point i can use both berserk then last resort? that will do loads of dmg? or is it a waste and to just span the 2 out?

yeah but im not rich heh and sam's swords and armor are loads of $$$$$$$$$$ i got a sam in my LS that paid 13k for a lvl 12 sword grrrrrrrr i never paid more than 7k for a scythe or a GS until recently (lvl 30 drk) and that was only 10k. im always broke even when i spend 10 hours farming, i may have 25-40k after i farm but i blow it all on better armor ect for my main heh.

hey nohmann i don't know what you're smoking but drks are not made of paper
they can wear some of the heaviest armor in the game
and you're elvaan
just as long as you don't use berserk/last resort/souleater you can be as good a tank as warriors without defender

as for drk/war, warrior sub is really good
i'm going to sub it to lvl 60, then subbing thf
double attack with a scythe is insane

ok then i suggest you keep warrior till at least 60
you won't have to worry about lvling it till then
or you could switch to thf then to have sneak/trick
berserk is very helpful and double attack rocks

i sub drk/thf and it works out perfectly, however don't think you will die after "Sneak Attack" deals lots of dmg but but anybodie could voke it off you... lvl 45 right now doing 120-200 dmg on criticials ^ ^ i'll sub war when i get to lvl 50.. war/thief at lvl 40-49 has the sam dmg rate from
50-100 dmg per hit.. why not sub thieff now lol since you could so sneak attack and have TH Super deal to play with

i have enough acc and dex+ items to keep my hit rate up to par with sams
i enjoy berserk too much to stop
plus i still need to lvl up my thf a bit more before i sub it

im a drk, as shown, lol...and in fact im elvaan, even tho my joke is im a male mithra, but my drk can tank ez, i have 800 hp right now, my armor can get up to 225 with a protect 2, and i am good at holding hate, thanks to soul eater, but i think your wrong about not useing soul eater with LR and berserk, i do that often and it works fine, tho i do prefer sub thf, with sneak atk, soul eater, LR, a meat mithkabob, and a WS like nightmare or vorpal blade i can do in the +500's to enemies at VT and IT

You can stack Last Resort + Berserk + Soul Eater and if you like, use Blood Weapon as well. I've done this tons enough to know it works.

If I were you, alternate Last Resort and Berserk. Berserk lasts a lot longer than LR (I think it was 1.5 min vs 30s?) and I wouldn't recommend stacking LR+Berserk because LR acts like a mini-provoke and you will take unnecessary damage from a gimped defense causing WHM to heal you more than they need to.

Use Soul Eater + LR though. Make sure you do it half way through battle. I honestly think you shouldn't spam this though, regardless of how well your pally is. Wait till your pally gets his/her abilities (Like Flash) to help get back the hate you will more likely get (LR+SE = 1.5x provoke).

Edit: Berserk is more powerful than LR, which is why it's wasted on stacking on each other. Just alternate so your attack is boosted above normal at least for 90~95% of all the battles, rather than just having it for only a few battles here and there (Your damage output would look gimped and then people might think you're just crappy = no party invites)

If your party is in tight spot, you can go all out and even use soul eater + WS then quickly turn off the soul eater so you won't keep loosing HP.

Well using berserk and last resort at the same time is a terrible idea unless you want an adrenaline rush from nearly dying or dying. Your party will not like you for it because you will create serious downtime from them trying to keep you alive. Last Resort = 30 second berserk + provoke. Berserk generates 0 hate when used. If you have both going your attack will be high but your defense will be next to nothing. The only way you wont get aggro from Last resort + berserk + souleater is if you have MISSED most of your swings against the monster. You are doing fine by using Last resort near the end of fights when you dont have berserk. Get used to judging how much aggro you have then you can tell what you can do and when. Ex. If all my hits are landing and i get a couple double attacks in and/or a few criticals, I know that I better be careful.
A tip for war sub is if you do happen to get aggro, use defender to get some defense up and cancel it when pally regains control. Ill even "unlock" targetting and face the other way so i wont swing if i am getting hit and i feel like i have too much aggro too early in the fight.
To cancel any buff, except food effects, just highlight the icon you want to cancel and push the accept button.

true .. but not with a good PLD. Just wait for the mob to have ~30% hp left and hit it. ( souleater + berzerk + last resort.) If the PLD is decent , the mob dont even flinch

Caladan, it depends how much enmity you've built up already. You can generally tell, though, by observing the monster's behavior. If the monster is facing you, but still whacking away at the PLD, that means if you keep up the current damage output AND/OR do something additional (Soul Eater for example) it's a good chance you are next in line on his hate list. LR+SE is bad at this point because it's like a PLD's Sentinel + Provoke. Trust me on this, it isn't pretty if you don't use your abilities correctly. There's a time and place for everything and even if the IT's HP is 1/3 down, you're still gambling (Consider DRK's innate ability to miss like heck at times and also consider IT mob's latent effects kicking in e.g., Evasion + 30 or STR + 20).
