Funny you should ask. I have recently started leveling my SAM.

You can be a NIN/SAM. You will have massive amounts of TP to use constantly. It's fun to cause a lot of damage for once. On the other hand, you will never, and I repeat for clarity, never get a party past level 40 as a NIN/SAM.

Ninjas are tanks. If you dont want to tank, don't be a Ninja. In order to tank (and get a party) you have to go NIN/WAR. Provoke is *the* single most useful job ability as a Ninja.

It is a fact that Ninjas can do decent damage at higher levels. Of course, DRK and DRG can do a lot better damage. Why would any group with a PLD invite a NIN too? For the damage? No.

Off topic: The simple fact is, Ninjas tank. That's it as far as group dynamics go. Sure, other ninjutsu is ok, but why waste money on powerder when a BLM or RDM can cast blind, etc for free? Think about all the MP you are saving them on Cures, surely they can pony up 40 mp for enfeebling.

Another over looked fact about Ninjas is, they can't die. Think about all the times in the game you've died and the amount of EXP you've lost. Ninjas have the best two hour ability in the game. The preservation of EXP in the Ninjas 2h is unmatched. Not to mention it i a nice warp tool.

Final thought: NIN/SAM for fun only.
