i recently went to do the pld quest and when i tried to get to e10 for the last part of the quest there was a gate blocking the way to the well is there a way to open it or a way around it. PLZ HELP.

Two friends and i were running through Davoi to do the paladin thing, ran into a group of level 60-70s who agreed to escort our pansy selves....
Big Scary Orc runs up, friend dies in one hit. Much o.Oing, people mobilize, i get to see a group of high levels get completely owned.
We all died. Except the one person we were doing the quest for. She made a mad dash for the well, got the item, *then* died.

I experienced something similar. I had already gotten the Knight's Soul, and we were heading back, when suddenly this huge Orcish Farshooter (or something to that effect; it had a RNG job) did 350 DMG per hit, and killed us all. We were pwned.

My ls was helping on of our own get paladin (at maybe level 30) so we charge bravely into Davoi, storm several corners, all the while cutting down weakling orcs, then leap boldly into that ravine. A farshooter kills our blm in one hit. Another takes me out. The rdm we were helping gets chased by a gladiator into a little place chock full of pugils, which aggro. He didn't last too long either.

Wow.. I always feel bad when I read these because my paladin experiece was so.. I dunno. Fantasy based.

The story goes as such: Tristram (Bold and Daring not yet fantastic Red Mage) is set to die, many times over. While he escorts his friend Xeno to get the thing.

Running through, all fine and wonderful. Xeno forgets to tell me invis is wearing off. Boom. Aggro'd! Can we kill it? Hell no. We call for help. Rather ... I dunno... I guess it's something you'd expect in a movie, three players pop out of invis and kill the four orcs that were coming after us in no time (Ninja/Paladin/Ranger. All with invis on then bam! There and killing.. quite magical)

Run through the River, no problem. Get the well. No problem. The rest of the journey no problem.. til the end. When a group of orcs come after us and somehow managed to kill them (I had 12 health left.. he had 27.)

Hehe, me and a friend were lucky then when we did this quest...
When we got to Davoi we stood at the zone for a while hoping to find some high level help... which we succeeded in doing. I think they were a lvl 56 Bst/whm, and some other high level (he was anon...) and, well, the bst just charmed everything in our way in the river! It was a sight to behold! We didn't fight any Pugils there, he would just come along and charm them and then run back somewhere and release them. 20-30 charms later we came across a big group of orcs, in which he called a rabbit familiar that just completely slaughtered the orcs! That was one tough hare there! ^^
Next came the area where the Knight's Soul was.... a big ooze monster was there (not too sure if it was NM) and they attacked it. My friend and I were too close to it when it did an AOE attack... which hit us for ~350!!! We backed off far and started to heal while our escourts were fighting away! Sadly the thing did another real hard attack and killed the other guy, leaving the bst and the hare. That hare put up a real good fight, but eventually it died, so the bst called on a crab familiar! That thing was a freaking tank!! He ordered it to attack while he started resting beside it. Eventually the crab actually killed the monster and had about half its HP left. The bst then cast raise on his friend and we got the knight's soul, in which my friend and I used our scrolls of instant warp to get back to San d'Oria quick and easy. We passed on all the drops since they were fighting and we did get some pretty cool drops along the way, but since they didn't ask for anything in return, might as well let them have the treasure.

Ironic I had a lv70PLD/WHM help me. He was a JP player so it was difficult trying to tell him stuff in romanji. When we got to the well he fought the jelly while I examined the well to get the Knight Soul. But then when he finished fighting it (Swift Blade is nice ) he kept telling me to examine it and I kept telling him I already did! lol

The other thing he taught me was how to manually dispel certain spells. Sneak, Invisible, certain enhancements too. It's a really good thing to learn. From the communication issue, I told him I'd rather suicide then take away more of his time and he told me not to and that he'd take me out b/c he said 'I am a Knight right?'

I made a friend that day.

I've got 2 paladin stories: mine, which lacks the funny-ness, and a RDM friend, who just wanted the pld flag.

Mine: I got 3 prism powders/3 silent oils. Went to Dav, ran through the place, got the soul. All with 1 powder and oil each. However, since you have to be UN-invis for the well, I took some more potions. Ugg... I mixxed up the order. Took the invis, THEN the silent oil, canceling my invis. S'ok, I had another oil. So I took it. THe invis stuck for like... 3 seconds. And an orc saw me, bam, took me out. Didn't matter, I was pally and happy

RDM's: So this RDM friend of mine and another WHM wanted to get pally as well. They had no map and was hoping I would guild them through. Since my first experience wasn't too bad, and this friend was my best friend irl, I said sure. So we start runnin through, invis/sneak. We get to the well with little problems (A wrong turn here and there, but all in all, no problems). So my RDM friend says, "Dude... I want to kill that mush." I think it was a Davoi mush or something? Not sure... All I know is that I've heard BAD stories about it. But he didn't care, he just wanted a free ride home. I sighed, knowing this was gonna be a slaughter, and I jumped into the battle with him. I took as much damage as I could - like... 2 hits, and he pulled aggro and blink tanked it (nin sub). We were doing NO damage. Then this little taru walked by and just watched us. I thought this battle was ludacris - We were getting NO where with the mush. So I called for help.

-=*1k damage*=- to the mush from a like... fiargra II spell or something. I was like, "WHOA! NICE!" the BLM got aggro, and I tried pulling it off, but... All I had was 'voke cause I was main WAR now. But... I was examing the BLM and he was taking hardly any damage. BAM! AGAIN with the fiargra II spell. At this point I was just slack jawed. The mush died, we thanked the mage and left - RDM friend said, "Good... That's all I wanted to do. Now I can sleep tonight."
