can

you trick attack off of someone who isnt in your group? i assume so. that would be really

funny, to have your theif put 400 points of hate on some random guy and have him tank for

you while you beat down. i was inspired by seeing my thief trick off of the samurai in my

group who was AFK and not in combat. PLS ANSER

If you

can now, it won't last long. Square's been very vindictive about outside of battle

damage, like gob bombs. They don't seem to be blasting me and mine when we're near

another party fighting a gob.

If you can, though... it'd make for some sick

opportunities. Powerlevelling'd reach new heights. (And my stomach would twist all the

more for it.)

The

thing is... no. You cannot Trick attack behind a member NOT in your party. It would be kind

of UNFAIR to do that. Look at it this way...

*random person is sitting down in the

dunes, minding his own business but there is a Damselfly right next to him.
Random lvl

30+ thief stops by, uses Trick, stands next to lower lvl person and hits Damsel.
Damsel

slaughters poor random person.*

Kind of unfair... don't ya think?

That

didn't tell us anything. Unfair or not, we aren't here to discuss. We're here to

discuss operability. Has anyone TRIED this, is what we want to know. Regardless of the

morality of it, does. it. work.

I got AoE damage from a

hare when riding chocobo in Valkurm, also gob bomb in yuhtunga killed my friend who was

behind the wooden wall, didnt see the gob at the other side of the wall. he was in a

weakened state after being raised from a death in battle, so that's why one blow killed him

instantly.

So I dont think AoE damage only affects the people in the party...

Odd, but

off topic. Maybe I'm wrong. I've been right next to a guy who got bombed, though, and

didn't even get a hint of an attack on me.

I raised a cute lil taru

in Kazam then a gobbie train and subsequent bomb drop killed him again. ;_;

On

topic: that's a really good question, as soon as you can find some willing person to try it

out, lemme know how it goes. Another ODD trick attack thing I was just pondering... if there

is a beastmaster in your party, can you trick off the chamed mob or familiar? I doubt this

would ever be of use in a normal party, but I wonder these things. happy.gif

BST

familiar trick attacking would be superb... now you have a free tank. The white mages would

be full of glee. But let's take it up another notch, and say a BST isn't available. What

about avatars? Maybe summoners could have another use, hmm? Fantastic ideas.

Nice of

you not to read my top line of NO YOU CAN'T. I just threw in a little example of what

people would do if it was at all possible. :plain

You

can only trick attack behind someone of your DIRECT party...not even someone in another

party that is in your alliance. Must be within your party. You must stand directly behind

the person you would like to pass Agro on to.

Yes, I

have tried it out. When I was bored one day in the dunes... that is what I did. Heh heh heh

...

Only it was with a Snipper, I did the standard formation when you want to trick+

sneak behind someone... this guy was not in my party, or any party and just as bored as I

was, and after smacking the snipper... the snipper tried to hit me... and tried to hit me...

and tried to hit me.

This is evidence enough for me that you cannot use Trick Attack

with someone outside of your party.

When I got around to typing this Gilthanos

basically pointed it out too...

furthermore, the effect description specifically says "when behind a party member".

I'm not sure what the rules are for alliances and Call for help situations though.
