Sorry if this has been answered before, but I did a search and couldn't come up with a satisfactory answer.

When I run fraps and start ffxi, the game becomes really really choppy (nearly unplayable) even if i'm not trying to captue a movie or take a screenshot. I tried lowering my settings in ffxi, but that didn't seem to help much.

I didn't think simply having fraps active in the background would cause so much disruption in the game, and my computer isn't too bad.

Does anyone know what is causing this problem, and how to fix it? Thanks

i have the same problem. the game appears to run fine. just MAJOR LAAAAAAAAAG!!!! i lowered all the setting of everything. stil lag. my PC is pretty good too.
