Ok Kazz, good thing you posted your plan because you were going to make a mistake like many other new warriors.You were going to sub ninja before 50. There really is no point what so ever to sub it before then, actually there is no point in subbing it before 55. The first subs you should focus on are thief and monk. Second set of subs are sam and ninja. I still dont know why every warrior believes ninja is the best sub from 1-75 but please dont be one of them.

Straight from the guide:

All of the information above was gathered by warriors and most of it says when to sub what and when to sub another. But people just keep thinking everyone subjob is better than another. But I just want to make something clear that Phlow made me realize. The subjobs thief,monk,ninja and samurai are all about preference AND situation. You need to level ALL of them if you want to be at your best. If you don't have enough cash for shihei or the monster hits too fast sub monk. Same goes with food. You dont always buy attack food. When subbing monk you should buy defense because you get hit more and can hold hate better. When subbing ninja you sohuld buy attack since you get hit less but don't hold hate quite as well. Same goes for samurai and thief. Please don't single out one subjob better than another. Pretty much everything in this game is situational.

Also don't bother with the DEX rings, get 2 STR+2 rings, you don't really need the VIT ones...

so i should get Monk to 27? then go level ninja once all is said and done?

i was planning on getting THF to 15 just for farming purposes, not necesarily as a sub...

the reason i wanted to be WAR is not for just the versatility, but the sheer value of being able to kill things AND survive, which most jobs lack one of those major compartments.

as for equips, when should i start having my offensive gear and my defensive? because pre-20 there is pretty much 1 straigh t line fore offense and defense.

i started leveling Gaxe today...oh man. i love it. so much damage. almost makes me not want togo back. but i need to, otherwise at 50 dual wield will go to waste.

1haxe=21
Gaxe= 19

^^ is that good for level 9?

Take monk to level 27. From then on ninja is superior. Thief sub is really important. I use it 90% of the tasks I have on ffxi, coffer key PTs, farming, and exp PTs. Before 55, it is the Ideal damage dealing job, but also at 50 monk sub with Focus is great too. At level 60 you will probably pick up thief sub when you get raging rush but that is a whiles away. Level thief to atleast 30.

so i should wai until 60 to level thf?

as a galka, dmg isn't really an easy thing to pull off, so i'm sticking with tanking. which means monk goes to 27, and at 55 i switch over to /NIN

but one thing i am unclear about, is Stat priority, do i want all attack gear, because i'll be hitting often, or defense gear, because i need to be able to take damage? should i go for th armor that gives +3 atk, or the one with 5 more defense? same goes for weapons, Damage, or stat bonuses?

and i avea thf bddy that i know in rl, we play together alot, and hes going to be my thf for me, treasure-wise, do i stll need to lvl thf, or is it really just used for farming? thanks, Kazz

Kazzick: Level Mnk, Thf and Nin for subs. Uber versatility. Read my post on the advantages of each sub.

So far, Thf is still my favourite. Ending Fragmentation for 541 on the sturmwind and 250 odd renkei damage at level 40 is really quite uber.

I can't wait to hit 60, SATA Raging Rush? Yes please! My friend managed to get one off for 1043 the other day. All I have to say about that is MMMMMMMMMMMM.

No. Start subbing thief at 30. Also have to sets of armor. At your level there isnt gear that you can really seperate from the other other than VIT rings. At level 40 you will start noticing gear for tanking. Also it really doesn't make a difference. 3 attack is NOTHING. It is all about preference. I would say go for the 5 defense. Or you can buy both. Also like I said in my other post. I have been using thief from 30-55 and I use it for 90% of the tasks I do on ffxi. Do not only level it for farming. It is a very viable subjob that should be leveled.

i was talking to a WAR 75/ thf 37 today

he said that i should sub monk until 30, then level THF and NIN for the rest of my days.

and depending on what my pt wants, i'll pick my job accordingly. if they want a tank, i'll be a WAR nin with 2 haxes, but if they want a dmg dealer, then i should pick a /thf and use gaxe. he also said that as a galka, i needed dex more than str, and siad that i shoudl get a dex+1 and a str+1 that will last me until 30, when i can get my new jobs.

we aso said i should stick it out for a brave belt. because the VIT of a warrior's belt inst worth the 8 to brave's 2vit and 2str.

he said my stat priority as a galka is DEF ACC ATK

comments would help.

I disagree with ALOT of what he says. There is just so much wrong with it. Just because a sub is better at a certain level doesnt make it better from there on. I said start subbing thief at 30 not quit monk completely. That is not what you do. You add subs not subtract. Thief and Ninja from 30 on will be a horrible mistake. Lemme just say this about ninja sub. Don't bother with it until level 55. Level it up, but don't sub it. It is not the BEST choice. It works well for some people but thf sub is better for meleeing before then and mnk for tanking. You mistook me I think when I said when you should sub what because I think you meant I said to drop the sub and use this sub from there on. Second of all DEX is for thieves. I dont care what the formula is 2 DEX = 1 ACC that still doesnt do you any good and it has not even been proven. It doesnt affect your SA and it is a slow slot-wasting process raising accuracy that way. Don't bother. Warriors 3 main stats: STR, ACC, ATK. So here is what I said broken down.

1-55 Monk sub will be in your arsenal. Use this for tanking and at level 50 you can use for damage since it gets teh ACC+ ability Focus.

At level 30 you will be able to use thief subs SA and you ADD that to your arsenal when you have to tank.

Level 50 or 55 pick up ninja sub. At 50 you can dual wield II and you can use Viking axes to maximize you damage and rampage at 55. This sub will be superior to monk in tanking and damage dealing and you can stop leveling monk if you please.

Level 60 you add another sub to your aresenal samurai soley for damage dealing. DO NOT drop thief because there will be some situations SAM is better and some where thf is better.

I hope you understand that subjobs dont get dropped when another is better. Some subs are only better than others at different levels.

: i have gotten the same information from him as well as other 70+ jobs, they say that Galka already have alot of STR, but need accuracy, and the DEX rings should help abunch. they also said not to bother with VIT, since Galka have alot of that too. and i should just stick it out until i can buy a Bravebelt instead of spending on Warrior's belt.

i've farmed and recived 70k to spend, i have 1 dex ring on me i bought a long while ago, and with some of the fishing stuff (stupid summerfest) i'm down to about 68k.

another thing, i'm getting Chainmail at 24, so should i spend the money to get Beetle gear at 21? or just stick with Lizzy armor? because frankly, if its just a few points of DEF, it's not really worth the money i would put into it when i can sped on things like Beetle Earring's +1's.

uhm it´s a commonly accepted fact that +dex does affect accuracy, even if it´s not as easily calculated as 2dex=1acc...
when you are swinging your great axe at any level beyond, say, 45, getting +acc should be your top priority before any other stat, like it is for drk and drg, who also hit hard but slow; the simple rule is: "if you can´t hit it, you can´t damage it". also, +dex increases both your critical hit rate and the damage of them, even if you are not thf main, although these get the most benefits from it of course.
beyond that, get whatever fits your current role in the party best... +attack/+str as damagedealer, +vit/+def as tank.

traya: it´s never too late. just grab the axe of your choice and go to tahronghi canyon, and whack saplings and bees until skill 30. then, switch over to goblins, and when these stop giving benefits, start diminishing the local dhalmel population till 60 if I remember correctly. then it´s maze of shakrami, worms till 80, then goblins then scorpions. at around 100, go to yuhtungha... well you get the idea. I´d estimate that at level 52, you won´t have any trouble soloing your skill to around 110 or even higher, and that is about the point where it´s no longer impossible to get a skillup party together in jeuno.

@Traya: First of all you are jsut in time to sub ninja. Ninja sub comes at 55 with rampage and viking axes. With these you can do some very nice damage. As for you axe problem, a few skillup PTs should do it. ^^

@EcLipse: Also I agree you need accuracy, but DEX is not where you should get your accuracy from. I have been preaching on about how much this but I guess it won't do anything. People just feel like they need alot of DEX to hit things so more power to them smile.gif. Oh ya I remember seeing the interview about DEX my bad;;

@Kazz: Keep lizard armor until chainmail, beetle isn't necessary. Like Eclipse said no matter what race you are you have to equip yourself the best you can. ATK/ACC/STR or DEX biggrin.gif for meleeing, VIT/DEF for tanking. The more the merrier. You can never have enough VIT, epsecially since warriors have a D in vitality.

hey jane, where did you get that sandy armor? i heard ballista is for high levels...and i'm not sure what it's benefits are...

to become a pld actually crossed my mind today...because of all the parties, but i'd rather be versatile...and not blammed when someone dies because i couldn't heal them and them WHM was out of mp.

and NIN...well...i'm a heavy race, with low AGI..it would be hard to keep par with even the mediocre mithras...

Yes I think we all have temptations to linger like that but in the end we just love warrior too much. I do not have this armor and I have no idea where to get it. I used the FFXI Model Viewer program to mage this signature. I have a feeling ur gonna make a great warrior on phoenix ^^

heh. thanks.

little known fact about me: this is my third character...1st was a hume that i got DRG to 59, but quit because of outside stuff. 2nd was a whm. i deleted the Hume because i thought i was never going to play again, and i totallly forgot about the WHM. so i pretty much know the road to 60. but i had never played war past 30 so i was going to make it my Main ^^ but thats enough of my life story ^^
