Even if I'm leveling my 58 Red Mage, I am leveling my Dragoon at the same time. I'm level 41 DRG and just got my AF1 weapon, Peregrine, yesterday. Even if people dislike us or don't invite us as much, I will continue to play this job. It's the only other advanced job I'm enjoying, besides Bard, which I will level later once I complete a couple more Gobbiebag Quests. (Oh the pain of holding multiple instruments. >.<)

Anyway, Crimsonknight, the answer to your question can be found in the Dragoon Forum or on FFXI Allakhazam.com. The guides or info from other dragoons will help you greatly. Have fun and I hope you enjoy the job like me and many other dragoons out there. happy.gif)d

I think Unicorn is pro-dragoon because i get ALOT of invites biggrin.gif way more than when i was a WAR,

but to be a good dragoon, just keep your gear up-dated meaning don't wait 4-5 levels to get the next type of armor 1-2 levels should be ok, but i'm not so sure about the higher levels

focus your gear mostly on STR and ACC, if you can get all of the equipment with ACC+

at lvl 25 be sure to know the right time to use "Spirit Link" don't use it when your WHM is low on MP because that could get you killed

....i think that's all, I'll post more as i come up with them

1.dont listen to the constant degradation of DRG's by people all around you.

2.learn as many SC's as you can. Raiden Thrust
is gay until you see its SC uses

3.learn the subtle intricacies of your job(not just DRG, any job), like your innate accuracy is nice throw in some balance rings and god help your enemy.

4.Meat Mith/Chiefkabobs (duh)

5.Armor isnt that important but stay within 2-3 lvls. The majority of your gil should go towards food and the best polearm. Lances are your best bet.

6.Jump- use it often.

7.Treat your wyvern as you would treat a party member. If it dies you lose alot.

8.Dont get trapped into constantly comparing your damage output to others. DRK's will often start up with you. I shut 'em up by saying "well the RNG and the BLM can pwn us both but do you hear them competing or laughing at us"

9.Remember the long journey to become a Dragon Knight and the emotional bond you have with your wyvern. Put your all into every swing of your lance and your partner will too.

10.But above all have fun "Heir to the Holy Crest"

People don't "hate" drg, its a great job for exp parties, it throws out good consistent damage without strong WS and has innately better acc+ the problem is that there is no heavy armour piece like a haubergeon or hauberk, the best dragoons can get are the scorpion harness and the assault jerkin, this combined with the fact that they are sub-standard for HNM in terms of damage ( their lack of base damage/attack bonus abilities/alternate damage mean it cant compete with drk/sam/mnk on HNM ), and their lack of strong WS is another problem. sam/drk/rng. all have strong WS and are capable of substained damage on static HNM if geared up correctly..

All this means is that while DRG is looked down upon in this manner by HNM'ers, the attitude is filtered down but the reasons are often lost, DRG can be a good member of an alliance with a mage sub and in a healing role vs say fafnir, but again there are better options for an alliance to take.

Dragoon in exp is a GREAT job and people shoulnd't be biased, but dragoons shouldn't throw their hands on their heads and scream haters and deny that there is a clear problem with the class when solely looking at their role in endgame activities.

no way gryffes...wheeling thrust owns genbu, remember?

seriously though, drg are ok for xp pts...i see another problem on our server though...is that alot of the drg i see are poorly equipped, so i think that kinda helps prevent them from getting xp pts as well. A bunch of bad apples can ruin it for all.

I ran a parser during genkai 2 many moons ago. We had two drgs in alliance.

One was drg/drk (I kid you not) and outdamaged...everybody.

The other was a drg/war and landed two hits the whole fight. Did less damage than a whm, who cast a banish II or stone or some kind of thing...odd since we had like two deaths sleep.gif

I can't really recall what they were wearing, and I didn't check either one. I tend to only check if there's a bazaar or I'm intensely curious.
