spira :
70-75 are recommended levels. i made them that way because at 67-69 back when I first wrote the guide u could still do Akselloak and it'd give pretty much the same exp for far less effort and less risk.

times have changed of course.. but the recommended levels I'd state would probably remain the same. They are after all.. just recommended.

Nice map btw Bethor

Cool, was just giving a little heads up for the people who don't care much for IC, and might be a little lost since the Akselloak nerf. ^^ The lake camp is awesome, and at 450xp per kill with the empress band, I'm glad I risked the trek up there. Thanks for the great guide!

personally i like Hpemdes cos they're fast exp and very quick to kill. You'll need to go to northern al'taieu for the higher level ones.
some SMN have a great time with Imps in Caedarva, but u'd probably need to compete with tp-burn pts for those.. so I can't say its always an option.

sky pots are an option but you'll be depending on BPs for dmg so each fight is like 3-4min? depending on criticals..

or u can do snolls in ule lol.

Oryx :
I've been soloing these at level 68. They are doable at 67 as well, but take a little longer to kill due to Carby missing quite a bit. They are IT++ still at 68, but much easier than IC (or at least for me).
I've been trying to solo on the frozen lake at 68 and run into the problem of Carbuncle missing quite a bit. This is a real problem when a "new" Carbuncle misses a bomb coming towards me and fails to claim so I get hit! It's very annoying and sometimes fatal. sad.gif

I think I might hold off until 70 for the frozen lake so my Carby will have a little more accuracy...

Hmmm, I did not have that problem. The only time I ever get hit by a bomb is when there is not enough time/room to recast, or if I mess up (i.e. someone talking to me and I get distracted, lol). The first situation happened often enough in IC since those bombs love to beserk so much and take out carby too quickly at 67 -- or at least for me. However, if you have enough time and room, you should not be getting hit. At all. Even a new carby can miss and get hate easily if you are far enough away. Just the action of carby moving towards the snoll to attack is enough to get hate unless you are too close when you are recasting.

Hello, I know saying thanks will be like a drop in sea tongue.gif

So i'm SMN61 Soloing on Morozkos, When i was SMN60 i was also soloing on them i was getting 250 per bomb, but when i leveled 61 i get 300 exp per bomb.

anyways my question is sometimes i don't get exp from bombs, Though! I'm not far away from gaining exp otherwise i would get the message "You are too far away to gain experience points" but i get nothing, All i do is resummon carbuncle and he stays next to me so i figure it's dead, wait for exp but nothing.. so what's the problem here?

My friend said Lag, but it happened to me like 5 or 6 times.

Plus i and the bomb was in the tunnel so we weren't that much away, when i resummon carby i usually stop right when his hp disspear..so i don't think i was that far..

Please help..
Thanks

This has never happened to me. Cos when I did it, they didnt do the anti-mpk changes yet.

I believe that the snoll/bomb actually tends to depop sometimes when they are too far out from their spawn area due to the MPK change. Which is kinda weird because he should have hate on you, but sometimes the mobs you fight can just like go yellow.

My guess is that it probably means that you either kite so well that hate on you is so minimal (or coupled with enmity - eq) the hate you end up registering on the snoll becomes so insignificant its less than whats needed to not have the mob depop.

Perhaps you can test like not using so many enmity- eq and see if it helps.

Thx anyway biggrin.gif

It's like 15 seconds from it's spawn area, not that far really, but i guess that i totally lost hate and like what you said "it just goes yellow".

Do you advise me to Dia it or do some move to make sure i don't lose hate at all?

Somtimes i gain hate from not resummoning carbuncle soon enough when it dies, and if carbuncle missed it i will get hit eventually, but if i resummoned it in good time and from distance even if carby missed it i don't get hate..

So if i dia'd it, i will gain hate from the start, and that's bad..

I'm not wearing any -Enmity, but i can wear smn af which gives avatars:enimty-

What do you think?

Thanks for the advice. I considered what you said and figured out why I was having a problem. I thought I had Carbuncle out in time but it turns out there is a momentary delay between when he appears and when he'll actually engage the mob. If the bomb is already past Carbuncle and heading towards me before that delay is up then the bomb won't turn around on Carby until it's got a hit in on me. So, like you said, I simply needed to get myself further away!

I finally got around to Toraimarai coffer hunting and replaced my Austere Sabots with Evoker's Pigaches for the increased avatar evasion. These seem to add several seconds to each Carbuncle's life-span and give me the opportunity to better position myself for distance. I still have the occasional slip up but overall my bomb hunting is much smoother now.

To Eltimas, this was a post from earlier in the thread:

Djuwal :
I wanted to put in my 2 cents about the despawining of a snoll while fighting. I've been soloing since I was 55 and am now 62. Ever since the MPK patch I've noticed that the mobs I've been fighting will despawn in the middle of a kite session, but I think I've figured out why. Let's see if I can explain this right, though:

I'm in the middle of a kite session with a Moro and somehow I get hate. Take a little damage, but then Carbie gets hate back (usually after the Moro hits me twice - unless Berserk is on, then that just sucks). Run away, resummon when Carbie is dead, and if I'm lucky Carbie will have hate back, if not I'll get pounded again a couple of times and then carbie will get the hate back on him. Now, let's say I have a straight run where I don't have to pass the Moro on the next kite. If I summon Carbuncle and then run away, but notice that the Moro is chasing me (Carbie's hp won't be diminishing, so I'll know by that) but I keep running, and eventually Carbie gets hate back (I think he runs a little faster than the Moro) before the Moro is able to hit me. If the Moro doesn't explode on this round...it will despawn. So, the rule is, if you have hate, make sure the Moro/snoll/bomb hits you before running away, because if it doesn't it will despawn if Carbuncle gets hate back before it's able to hit you.

I've actually used this little trick to my advantage on those Moros that take forever to explode and I've ended up getting hate one way or another. If I'm running low on hp and mp, I'll just keep running until Carbuncle gets the hate (doesn't take very long usually) and then after Carbie dies, the Moro will despawn giving me the time I need to get my mp/hp back. Sure the last ten minutes will seem wasted, but it beats dying.

Hope that helps! I have had that happen a couple of times at the Moro camp, and it does seem to happen as Djuwal described.

And to Pixymisa, glad things are going smoother for you! smile.gif

Hi Oryx, i'm very greatful for you digging this up for me.

Hmmm i see, that's why..

So the solution to prevent this from happening from the beginning is not getting hate at all.

And getting hit is the solution to prevent it from despawning if i got hate..

Thanks again Oryx

bye~

Minus Enmity Gear helps prevent this. I always soloed with Raven Head, Pants, Feet. And at 71 with YY robe is just got even better. I had the same issue to begin with as you, specially on long runs when I went 10-15 carbies into the bomb. The enmity gear really made a big difference.

Fortunally, I'm a Galka, so I could withstand a few hits when I did out-hate Carby, lol.

spira :
[purple]Astralburn: It is difficult to simply Carby-kite in Astralburn because hate bounces between players and when the mob does not have main hate on you, your Carbuncle will NOT automatically attempt to attack the mob.[/purple]
From my experience, it works like this when duoing:

Summoner A summons Carby A
Summoner B summons Carby B
Both summoners send their Carby to assault bomb.
Bomb kills Carby B first.
Summoner B resummons Carby B. Carby B stands by.
Bomb kills Carby A next.
Summoner A resummons Carby A.
If Summoner A "glitches" Carby B auto-attacks bomb.
Otherwise, Carby A auto-attacks bomb.
The remaining Carby has to be ordered to assault the bomb.
