AF1 vs Solid Wand

First

and foremost........ Bloody hell, that sucked. I think they failed to mention that you have

to fight the chaos elemental in the middle of a friggin army of demons.......
Then the

white mage goes "yeah, my af1 was in valkurm", the paladin goes "mine's in ordelle

", and i start wanting to hurt someone.
Got to kill some ice elementals and a shadow

dragon, though smile.gif

Having said that ^^
AF1: +20 mp
Solid Wand: +5 int and mnd.

Hmm.

I guess it's basically a matter of int vs mp.
My current int is ~65

MP is a bit below 500

Any opinions on which is more worthwhile?

Get

both but use the Solid wand... You can get mp boosters almost anywhere. INT +5 are a bit

scare-cer imo

5 int

for me is about +10% dmg. I got that # from comparing to a blm 1 lvl higher than me with 5

less int than me and I was doing 10% more on every nuke. 20 mp is less than almsot any spell

but aspir you will use after the early mid lvls.

IT's not only int, btu also your elemental/dark skills that affect it. But, definately

take the int...that's why morion tathlums sell for tons, same with the earrings, and all

high-end +int equip...int is the lifeblood of a black mage, and you'd be a fool to take 20

mp over 5 int. But, if you can't AFFORD the solid wand...hell, I'd take +4 or +3 of the

lower end wands(and normal synths) over the cast wand any day...

I've had

the same debate. My friend just bought a eremites wand...and he said that was better than

the solid wand. I'd take INT over MP anyday, though.

Just to reinforce Jordache. Get both. You cannot complete any of your other AF quests until

you have done AF1 even if its hard and sucky

I've

had a Solid Wand for awhile (ever since i was able to equip one, whatever level that was),

and i got AF1 the night i posted..... Was just wondering which one to use. Hard to let go of

+5 int and mnd :X

Now i wish i'd waited until i was at AF2 level, just so getting

AF1 would've been a bit less hellish... but oh well.

Yay int. I've been focusing

almost completely on int where available, but the fact that AF1 (and a lot of the af, it

seems) is purely mp made me wonder >.<

They do enjoy making us do long, arduous

quests for things that ultimately Suck, don't they.......
I can't even equip AF1 until

level 41. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

well get

used to it achaius, you aint seen bitching yet until you have to go after af2. i had to

call in a few favors from my jap killing machines to get that damn thing. omg.

btw,

int all the way. i got the casting wand and tossed that junk out. im using a rose wand +1

right now +6INT, +6MND, and sometimes the lilith rod +10MP, +5INT drain effect when i go

soloing in beadeaux.

AF 2 is

easy. I soloed it for 4 BLM friends so far and I'm only level 63 =|

AF 3 isn't that

bad either. They made up for it though with Eldieme and Garlaige coffers... hate those place

^^

I don't

wanna get used to it /cry
I'm not very good at getting people to do shit for me. I'm

getting a very strong feeling that the game wants me to get people to do shit for me,

though. Frustrating.

o

.O Damn.
Come to alexander, me love you long time.

Anyhoo. Int.
Running

through Sarutabaruta, i decided to do a quick damage comparison (i was going to fish, and

mass murder makes the walk more entertaining).
Blizzard with Solid Wand: 125
Blizzard

without Solid Wand: 120
Consistently.
The difference was higher with blizzaga, of

course, but 5 out of 125 is a pretty small percentage.

However.... resists are a pain

in the ass. I guess i knew the answer all along, and just wanted confirmation *whistles*

And i was wrong! Int ~61 and mp ~465. I'm used to looking at my stats with a melon

pie in me :X

i actually use the Solid Wand the +5 helps a lot.
god, it was hellish to get

the AF1 ( at least for me =| ).
i feel even worse for the JP whm that was helping me.

but you know, even if the wand isnt that great...it just feels good to have gotten

started on the AF quests ^.~
......now if i can only finish my genkei 1..... ;_;

gah...

Small INT...big difference. I was in Quicksands Caves (aka Valk2) and about 3-4 of

5 of my debuffs were getting resisted (grrr....you know what I mean) and many of my nukes

were not getting full dmg. My chesnut wand only 4 INT was boosting my Mog safe's INT. I

finally went and got it when the ninja ran out of Utsusemi tools. After I got back I'd say

about 14/15 of my debuffs were sticking with my wand and I hardly ever had 1 debuff get

resisted. 20 MP is like 1/4 or 1/5 of a spell bout then.

btw...I bought my new Sloth

Wand today...it's like -1 to everything but INT +7 smile.gif Oh yeah...I'm an INT whore.
