Failed on my first try, but with a very good excuse... Well, I was stupid. I forgot to use
my fish kabob AND switch back to my RG collar to fight Maat. So, I was fighting him with
about 260 defense, which, to put it mildly, kicked my ass. It was 6 am, I was excited in
finally fighting him, I just totally forgot about it.
But! I actually put up a VERY
good fight vs him considering my lack off defense. Infact, I almost won, was just 1
guillotine away, but, he bashed me at the last second (youll see it on the video).
[

Note: This is about 24 megs. The
sound is a bit off, but who cares...
Key points on the video to watch...
1)
Right at the start, you will notice that I did NOT have any food activated (stupid me)
2) First engage, I did this perfectly. Problem was, I got that "unable to see"
crap, and he bashed me.
3) When he used Bloodweapon, I was able to stun right away. I
made a mistake of using hi-pot instead of running. I thought I was far enough.
4) My
Bloodweapon was nearly useless. I the DRK "misses" came at a VERY bad time. This is the
time when I realized I forgot to use food and switch back my collar.
5) At around 2:
33 of the video, you will see me second guess if should go for the food or not. I went
against it because I thought he would just beat the crap out of me while the food is
activating.
6) On my Icarus wing usage.... I took the chance of using it there,
figuring he would give up... Well, I was wrong...
7) And... finally, right before I
died. If you see, he bashed me at the LAST second before my hi pot activated.
Now...
My win... I was going to video this too, but I wanted a sure win (I didn't want to drag my
friends along if I managed to lose again).
Recording with FRAPS was just laggy. So...
all of you will have to settle for screenshot logs.
Thank's To Blackwing,
Demisomething (sorry, forgot your name, blackwings friend), Ririkai, Selvas and Tenacity for
my 2nd Testimony.
Anyway, not much to the fight really (rather dissapointing
infact). It's a Hi-pot usage battle and 5 Guillotines, win.
http://www.dkguild
.com/valor/ff/win.jpg
Note: This is about 4-5 megs.
You'll notice that on
the screenshot, I didn't even use my Icarus wing. I was going to use it after that last
Guillotine, but he gave up.
I was actually MUCH faster on my first battle. My
execution of my strat was a lot better. I was not able to stun him first the start to do Bio
II or Drain on my second battle.
The thing is, he was just hitting me too much
without the food. You'll see on the video that he always hit me for atleast 107. But, on
the screenshot (with the defense boost), he had a couple of sub 100s.
And Yes. I had
Selvas remind me to use my food and change my collar.
The moral of the story is...
Don't fight Maat at 6 am.
My Maat Fight...

Awesome
video, Damnation. Too bad you forgot the mithkabob and your RG Collar [I wear that now,
forgetting that would suck. ^^;]. I have a few questions... for Samurai, do you think it
would be wise to wear my AF Gloves and eat a Shogun Riceball (+4 VIT, +4 DEX, +4 CHR, +45
ATK, +35 DEF, Double Attack+8 ) for the fight? Or should all melees use a fish mithka/
chiefkabob? And should I wear my usual def. decreasing and evasion decreasing items (like
Coral Earrings, ATK+5 EVA-5 and Sniper's Ring, Def-5 Drk-5, Acc+5 Rng Acc+5) or unequip
those items (or get different ones) for the fight? I'm just curious what to do...I have no
idea where to even begin. >< I'm pretty sure I should use my Polearm though, for Penta-
Thrust. If you have any level 70+ Samurai friends who have completed this, please ask them
what they did. ^^;
Maybe I should just save all this worry for when I'm actually at
LV70. X_X;

im looking
forward to it. everyday im coming closer to this event. for me i has a lil insight on how
it will be from the movie. was thinking about at the begining or lil after. is to use blood
weapon + souleater to do good damage without loosing any HP from souleater. then go all out
after that. and what food item would u reconmend for using?

Kayoto- From what I understand, the Samurai Maat fight is pretty simple. Perhaps one of the
easiest?
I would suggest using Rice balls. First, I would get 300% tp using a
combination of Meditate/op-opo and sleeping pots. Turn on your 2h, meditate after your third
WS, WS again, then Icarus wing. Maat should either be dead, or have given up by then.
Just watch out for HIS 2h. Run if he activate it...
Serl - I went with
steamed crabs over fish kabob for +Vit purposes. I switched my snipers ring to Phalanx rings
for defense. I went against using Souleater because I did not want to have the risk of
harming myself (As you see, you don't really need souleater).
The key to winning
the fight is keeping yourself over 50% hp. After your second guillotine, the will be around
50%, then turns on his blood weapon. Stun him right away and RUN. Do not sit there and just
chug down hi pots or he will regain all his HP back. After his blood weapon is over, you
should have close to 100% TP. Few swings + hi pots, guillotine him. Turn on Blood Weapon,
get 100% tp, Guillotine him, Icarus wing, Guillotine him. He will be dead, or has given up.
I spent about 50-70k for both of my fights. I went with the cheap way and didn't
bother with vile pots. Bring as many hi pots as you can (atlest 20), but the more you can
hold, the better off you are.

Stuff
you couldn't see... I used Lifebelt, 2 Phalanx earrings (changed from 2 snipers), Royal
Guard Collar, Slayer's Earring (from Coral), Assault earring, and some 8 def mantle I cant
remember (Yes, I am trying to save for a Haubrek o.O)

I did it on
my first try... using meat kabobs ^^a; Buffing defense didn't even cross my mind. From
everything I've heard about Maat fights for their jobs... you're supposed to be doing what
your job does best... and for DRK's... that's doing damage o.oa He hits me for ~120-130
per hit, but I was still able to beat him... ^^a His bashes hurt though ; ; It ended up
costing me a wing and about 2 dozen high potions... pretty much swing, potion, swing,
potion, swing potion for the majority of the battle.
I didn't get a screenshot
though :x wish I had ( T-T)

I'm
mentally preparing myself for my battle with Maat within the next few weeks
Although
as I've heard Whm is alot more simple.. heal/melee.. starlight.. heal/melee.. starlight...
rinse and repeat till hes done enough damage to end the battle.

if
you took x-potions over hi-potions how many of those do you think you would need cause i do
alchemy guild so for me the only thing i'll have to buy as far as potions are the icarus
wings.... so what would the optimal potion set up be and i'll be using shogun rice ball
with my af gear

Switch-
ollie, you're a Samurai. You don't need an Icarus Wing. XD
If you're a high-end
alchemist, just bring some X-Potions and Hi-Potions and use Penta-Thrust spam in conjunction
with Meditate and Meikyo Shisui and you should be fine... like Damnation said, just run if
HE uses Meikyo Shisui.
With our AF Helmet, Switch, and good accuracy (I mean ALOT of
nice accuracy gear) you could probably get a good 3-4 Penta Thrusts just using Meditate the
first time, and then Meikyo Shisui for 3 more (wait for the Meikyo Shisui effect to wear off
before using the last Penta, unless you know it'll kill him... if you use the last one
while it's still in effect, it'll drain your TP back to 0%, but if you wait for the effect
to wear off and THEN use the last Penta, you'll get TP back for every hit that connects)
and that would [I hope] finish him off. I don't think an Icarus Wing is necessary for us
SAM... but I might be wrong. ^^;

ya
i have life belt, mermans gorget and 2 sniper's rings for accuracy but ya i plan on turing
and running with my tail between my legs when he uses Keikyo Shisui^^... but you think penta
will be better then katana cause both myself and another sam friend of mine find that dmg
output is better with katana

Well DMG
output on IT mobs you fight in XP PTs is better with the Great Katana, I know that... but
with good accuracy vs. Maat (who I think is below IT, technically), you should hit with most
of the hits and the point is the TP return you get back... let's say you're using a
polearm with average delay against him and you hit with all 5 hits of Penta: You'll get
anywhere from 60-63% TP back, and with Meditate if you hit all 5 times the next time you'll
get 63% back again... and you can potentially get off about 3-4 Penta Thrusts in a row using
Meditate (I do it to IT mobs with a Bard in the party easily, and I'm pretty sure Maat
isn't as strong as a monster you'd fight in an XP PT...except maybe RDM Maat, hehe).
My point is that even though Great Katana is better for Parties for Samurai around
our level, Penta Thrust still operates very nicely on "weaker" creatures. I think it'd
work on Maat pretty well, as long as you had your accuracy up, but that's just a theory...
you never know. ^^;
Either that or I'd just use Tachi: Yukikaze... that is such a
nice move, and hopefully the "Blind" effect would work pretty well against him. But
either way, I hope our SAM fight isn't too hard... or too expensive, rather.

ya
i thought about the tp return and how i'd be able to hit more weapon skills on him right
after i ht the reply button ^^ so ya in that effect yes penta would be better, you are very
right there.

Eagle Eye
Shot sucks at later levels. Sidewinder (a RNG WS they get at Lv.55) does a whole lot more
damage than their two hour... so it's really not all that bad for rangers. Besides, Maat
doesn't use a ranged weapon...his "Eagle Eye Shot" actually counts as a melee attack [
the NM Giant at the top of Delkfutt's Tower, Poryphion or whatever, also uses Eagle Eye
Shot as a melee attack]. Rangers can Shadowstitch Maat and just use a very expensive Gun +
Silver Bullets + Slug Shot and they whup him... that's what I've heard from high level
RNG, at least.
