Hiya,
I've been playing NIN as a subjob for a little while, but I'm starting to really enjoy it.
I may want to take this up high enough to get the Artifact gear for it later on.
Anyway, here is my question.
I'm in the low 30's, what do you recommend in
terms of armor from the 30 to 40 range?
I'm currently using the following:
MWep - Kodachi+1
SWep - Kodachi+1
RWep - Wrapped Bow
Ammo - Silver
Arrows
Head - Emperor Hairpin
Neck - Spike Necklace
Ear1 - Dodge Earring
Ear2 -
Dodge Earring
Body - Chainmail
Hand - Chainmail
Rng1 - Reflex Ring
Rng2 - Reflex
Ring
Back - Wolf Mantle +1
Belt - Warrior's Belt
Legs - Chainmail
Feet -
Leaping Boots
I've been looking over the armor types in this range and there
doesn't really seem to be a big choice. I was wondering if I should sacrifice DEF for
points in evasion on the armor pieces. Both throwing and archery are over 100, so I don't
have to worry about that for a little while (was initially using bow to do the weaponskills,
but I may just move over to shurikens).
Any suggestions about what to equip during
this range would be appreciated...it looks as if there is a gap here.

at lvl 16 you can get bone armor +1 and in total that is +5 evasion. and lvl 21 beetle armor. then 45 carapace +1. but you might wanna stick with the best defense as long as you have emperor hairpin and something else you evasion you'll be good

Don't remember how to spell it, but Ochus Kote for the hands, Nomad Mantle +1 for the back, and that belt from Windy conquest with +1 to everything is nice too... I gave up my warriors belt +1 in my 20s because VIT and HP on it just werent making any difference...
You could also go for Drone earrings if you want help on your ranged attack and dodge, but with the -5 evasion on the Ochus Kote you're prolly better off balancing it out with the 2x +3 evade with dodge earrings. Guess that depends on what you want, and also if you're already Mithran you'll have an advantage in the dex agi department and can prolly do without the extra 6 for now anyways.
I don't know what else you use as weapons, but some of the swords have stuff like +3 dex or +3 agi in the early 30s... they make for good stat boosters in the offhand. The dam/delay on them isn't all that bad either.

Appreciate the response, good suggestions. I'll probably stick with Drone Earrings at 35 since my THF already uses them, if I happen to run into any extra Dodge ones I'll keep them this time instead of selling them.
As for my main weapons, I was actually going to switch over to swords for a little while since their weaponskills seem to be more useful in a Renkei at the moment. I was gonna give 2 Centurion's Swords a shot for a few levels before bringing Katana back into the mix again.
Last question, I've saved up quite a bit of money...how much is the Kote?

If you want to participate in Skillchains I would suggest having a Katana in your OFF hand and the dagger or Sword in the primary hand. The A Katana skill will let you hit often and build up TP but skillchain with the Sword.

Aye, but I'm wondering if the ACC +3 ATT +4 would be better used if I just dual wielded them after I hit the skillcap for katana each level. I've got sword capped out on my THF so it should take me as far as I need to go with NIN. There just seems to be a huge gap when it comes to Katanas past 32, the only other ones I can find come at 40 and 41.
The current Katana I use is the Kodachi+1, which is 20 DAM/222 DEL.
The swords are 19 DAM/225 DEL, +3ACC, and +4ATT.
I probably will go with your idea and just stick the other one in my off hand to keep it levelled. That's what I've been doing with THF with sword and club.
Thanks for the replies!
