Good Evening All!!
I just yesterday unlocked Ranger adv job and today toyed with him for an hour and got to level 5. I was wondering if someone could give me a lowdown on what "quivers" are and how they work.
Also any advice at all would be much appreciated. I may know how to play a whm decent, but I dont assume that means I can just pick up and start another class without taking some pointers

Quivers are your friend.
Bear in mind that only Iron arrows and above can be bound into Quivers though, before that you need some serious inventory management.
Now for how to use them.
First, get Carnations. Can be bought in Upper Jueno for 60 gil a piece. Next, go to the city that is currently first in conquest. Once you get there, have your arrows and the carnations ready. I can't remember the NPCs name (I have a memory like a siv) but it is a Mithra which sits near the Troupe Valentio. Once you find her, trade her 1 stack of arrows, and 1 carnation. Poof, you have 1 quiver.
Keep doing this until you have as many quivers as you want (you'll need to sort your inventory to make the quivers stack). Once you have your quivers, you use it as an item to release 1 stack of arrows of that type into your inventory.
Ie. You have a stack of 12 Silver quivers. Go to items, and use the Silver Quiver. You now have a stack of 99 Silver arrows in your inventory.
Trust me, quivers are your friend.

Only if Scorpian Arrows could be quiver-able. Now that would be cool!

Well, the best thing to know about Ranger is to save money. I had 50k saved up from my WAR and I also had all my equipment (bows+1, rings+1, martials, nomands, armor, archers) all saved up while leveling my WAR (I wanted to be prepared
) I am currently a level 23 Ranger and I did have to buy another archer's knive and a few daggers/axes because at the time I was leveling my WAR, I was not planning on going RNG/NIN (I am now though).
Rangers also need the best equipment possible. I posted on another forum about not having to have the hairpin or boots.. they are nice to have, but not a "must-have". I myself will be getting the hairpin in the future because.. IMO, it's the best hairpiece for me ATM. When you buy bows, get the +1's (i use longbows..), +1 rings, and any +STAT equipment you need to make up your race weakness (any race can be a "decent" ranger.. dont rant on this). +RACC and +RATTK are good too. If you use guns, then realize that markmanship is a bit more expensive to maintain than bows.
You've probaly already read about this on multiple forums, but I wanted to post it here anyway
Good luck!
