Funny, after monk, I'm going back to Samurai. happy.gif

Frankly, I can't think of any melee job that I don't like, except Thief because it's so frustrating to be doing pinpricks of damage until level 33 (though, I saw many Viper Bites today and was stunned by the damage stacked with Sneak Attack).

I really hope to one day hit 75 with Monk. As it stands, there are a few people on Asura working towards it and a handful of Japanese players that probably migrated already in their AF gear. There's a dearth of horrible Monks, though, which can only serve to worsen the already tarnished name my job has. ;_;

Its easy to go back to SAM since you wear alot of eastern wear that they can wear anyway lol- ya dont need to stretch ur cash between 2 jobs like alot of us.

Hopefully i can provide insight. I "was" a Dark Knight. I was pimp, I barely missed with my gear and I managed to reach lvl 53 and acquire some AF. Heres the deal, boredom is something that goes hand in hand with DRK. Yeah I was doing sick damage and MB-ing skillchains and absorbing and all that good stuff DRK's do.... But I can no longer stand being a Dark Knight. Maybe its because I dont have Guillotine or that I'm just jaded, but I cannot continue being DRK.

So in a twist of fate I decided to get back into my first job, Monk. I never had bad memories of the job and I loved everthing about it. I always pretended One Inch Punch was the Shining Finger move from G Gundam smile.gif. I only gave it up because I was naive enough to think many ADV jobs were way more uber than standard jobs....so sad.

Monk is a very powerful job that many people stigmatize for some reason or another. Monk will never match 1 hit damage of DRK's or DRG's but they do constant damage-damage that keeps coming non stop. Damage over time matters the most later on as fights last for over 5 mins and Monks have it in spades people: nobody can touch them in that dept in later levels (lvl 41 and on).

Lets also not forget TP gain. Even though my DRK hit consistently, MNK got me to magic 100% about 40% faster. Monks can generate TP just a tad slower than a Samurai and their multi-hit WS are least affected by the patch.

My DRK is collecting dust, my Monk went from lvl 30 to lvl 42 in about a week, and I have all the elite gear except Ochiudo's Kote which a round of BCNM40's will fix. To make this long winded post short, MNK for me=more fun and more damage over time than DRK. This is the way I see it; it is all my interpretation and please don't take what I say the wrong way. Hope this helped.

PS: Its true many Monks can be a bit "newbish" considering the low maintenance of their job. Please remember a small portion of every job has people who cannot handle the position they hold with their jobs....the majority of us Monks know what were doing and make exceptional use of our abilties.

I have to change my gear between Monk and Warrior, so it is actually does make a difference. Since I generally only rent gear, though, it's not a major issue. Additionally, as nice as Gis are, Samurai can wear some fairly heavy armor (the chain series) and if I do take Samurai further, I will certainly be wearing Silver Mail or some such.

Otherwise, that was exquisitely eloquent. Thanks, Jarein.
