I've been to plenty of websites and post stating elementals are arcana

Im begining to think otherwise because i do crappy damage on them

and acrcana circle dont really make a difference on my def against

them

Also ive noticed that elementals dont get intimadated at all

So can someone clear this up for me is elemental arcana or not???

They are, but they're very strong arcana, dunno how well arcane circle actually works against them. It works really well when stacked with Shell though. They have uber def, so *everyone* does shit damage to them. Best way to hurt them is use BLM spells of the element they're weak to.

Most people I know don't touch elementals until they're Easy Prey or lower. I hunt Wind Clusters in La Theine and a fight with an elemental lasts about 10x as long as anything else in the Plains except for Rams and the NM Rams.

Water cluster: 300 gil
Wind Cluster: 1.5k gil
Dark Cluster: 2.4k gil
Pulling a Thunder Elemental in Garliage while hunting coffer keys: Priceless.

On a more serious note: I can't even fight Easy Prey elementals as a WHM, they're just too hard for me =( Note they can't actually HURT me, but I can't hurt them either >_<

In my experiences fighting Elementals as DRK, I can almost positively say that Elementals are NOT arcana. I have never been able to intimidate an elemental, no matter what difficulty it was. Arcane Circle does not appear to affect it at all. Elementals are not arcana.

aye i can say with 90% certainty that they aren't arcana. even the ones in konschtat/thiene/tarongi don't get intimidated.

Its cause you're Galka. I'd be intimidated too ;p

Fire -> Ice -> Wind -> Earth -> Lightning -> Water -> Fire . . .

Light <-> Dark

Example: Fightning a Lightning Elemental in Qufim, I would use Barlightningra (an earth elemental spell), Stone II to hurt it or Enstone if I had RDM subbed.

My SPT's DRK always uses Arcane Circle when we're hunting elementals (for quests or fun) but I can't honestly remember if its worked, he seems to think it works though.

Where the heck do you find a dark elemental? I've seen thunder,water,light,earth,and wind. I have yet to see a fire(that isnt some yagudo's pet) and a dark.

There are various types of "Killer" effects. Some of them come standard with your job.... (e.g. DRK's Arcana Killer, PLD's Undead Killer, DRG's Dragon Killer, SAM's Demon Killer, BST's Vermin Killer, etc) and some can be granted by equipment (e.g. General Shield's Beast Killer, Admiral Shield's Aquarian Killer, etc) I'm not quite sure what, if any, killer effects MNK's have though ^^a;

As for the elementals...

You can find dark elementals in Xarcabard, Castle Zvahl and Beaudcine Glacier.

Fire elementals spawn in Valkurm Dunes, Altepa Desert, Kufttal Tunnels and one other spot I don't recall off the top of my head :x
