Just wondering if all u monks use Counter +1 Earings at the moment all i use are sheild Earings for some 20HP not that i need it im a galkan monk and already have 1048HP at lvl 42......I havent really seen any other earings that apeal to me apart from the Counter +1 ones (avenger Earings) which i can understand whilst soloing but not whist in a PT

Heres my Setup atm

Neck - Spike Necklace
Body - Jugitsu Gi
Hands - Ochido Kote
Feet - Fumah Kyhan
Earings - 2 Sheild Earings
Rings - 2 of the lvl 36 +2 Dex ones
Weapons - Mythril Knuckles +1 (have Beat Cesti that i sometimes use)
Ammo - Happy Egg ^^ cant beat the gain of this as a Galkan Monk lol

I personally dont think the +counter equipment is worth it at early-mid levels, (maybe not even high levels) unless you can get the *REALLY* good ones, like cross counters, rasetsu eq +1 otherwise the temptation is there to buy all the low level crappy + counter gear, find something IT, activate counterstance in the hope of actually seeing counter work, and then end up face down in the dust lol
I think i used shield earrings all the way up to 35 (36?) where you can where drone earrings for the agi boost. However I have since realised that they are all crap and you should use ear slot for +attk.

Lots of earrings available, thought limited useful options for monk, I would go with attk up earrings.

Ah sorry for double post. Looking at your equips in your post, you are running a pretty decen set up ^^, only thing you could consider changing is the head gear, I used mercenary capt headgear until lvl 56 when I got af crown lol

Thanks i was looking at camping me the Emps Hairpin....wish i hadnt sold the first one i had now so i thinkill try getting that the only other thing i was wondering is are u going for +evasion or staying away from that stuff i know less evasion means no counter but in my opinion a dodged attack is better than an Attack landed and countered.

At the moment I think I have +5 to evasion, though i cant remember on which peice, however I am desperately trying to get guard skill up, its stuck on 98 and refuses to budge ><;; I spent 8 hours in Garliage helping half a dozen people hunt for coffer keys, tanking the skellies the whole time and guard went up a whole 1.2 points.

yeah ive notice that really gets me down forgot to mention i currently have a Purple belt and god knows what im wearing on my back O_O..have to check that when i get back i also have some Combat Casters Pants with +5 Eva think i have about +1 to eva overall when u consider the -5 Evasion of the Kote (or is it -10).

but yeah i love killing skellys always brings a smile to my face.

Anything that adds to counterattack is only worthwhile if you are a.) solo'ing or b.) tanking. Otherwise, you shouldn't be taking nearly enough hits to justify having it. You could try to grab an Eris Earring, though. The +1 enmity could help if you're playing the part of a back-up Provoke.

hmmmm i play MNK/SAM so i dont tank at all and dont intend on doing so soon ^^

Then find something else. The AGI+ earrings (brain cannot remember name of them, but the unexceptional ones are Wing Earrings, I think?) would be a good choice, as you'd evade more often when you do take aggro.

How is Monk/Samurai working out for you at your level? I've tried it at mine and it seemed pretty lackluster compared to Monk/Thief and Monk/Warrior (as in, the stat boosts added nothing and Store TP 1 was not that helpful).

Also a note if some of you dont know:
Do not get 'Latent Effect: Counter+X'
Latent Effects only occur when your HP drops to yellow or below. This is why many items like this are very inexpensive.
Also, +counter items aren't overly useful unless you're being hit very frequently, in which case your tank sucks. If you are a Monk tank by the time these items are equippable, then Im very very sorry.

I would recoment Beetle Earrings +1 for you, I dont remember the numbers but its +attack -def or evasion.

I've been told that the equipment with latent effects are wonderful when fighting Maat for the last level cap.
