Warrior rests in the Mog house, all the gear i once couldnt part with is now on my mule, named : TheWeapon.
Why?
I reached a boundry i couldnt pass without help. Not the kind of help that is easy to come by. Im talking Nidhog help, Kirin Help. Problem was this, most people beleive other melee jobs and tanks are more viable at their roles. I beleive this is total BS. But its the Norm. RNG is THE DD, Ninja and PLDs are THE tanks. Despite having pointed out some of warriors shortcomings in the past ("Why the hell dont we get more double atk traits, Ninja get 4 dual wield, Mnk gets Martial arts and kicks" etc etc) I beleive this Job benefits the most from such items as Kirins Osode and Ridil. What am i doing about it? I was so close to quiting this game all together due to people's lack of respect for this class, but screw em. Course of action: LvL the most popular DD job ranger to satisfy the masses in order to get the gear I know is for war. Bah.

Well when it comes to HNM like Nidhogg, Fafnir, King Behemoth, and Kirin. It's better to lvl another job (whm/blm/pld/nin/rng) I call them "key jobs" to 70+ if you want to participate and getting the drops. A lot of ppl that lvled key jobs to 70+ seems to want to lvl war later on, and having Adaman Hauberk, Osode, Byakko's Haidate, Ridill, Genbu's Kabuto and etc end up putting them on top once their war job reachs 70+.

Other wise your best bet is to find and join an HNM LS that have enough "key jobs" so that all you have to do is run in do a 300% tp Spirits Within and leave alliance so the "key jobs" can enter the fight. If you joined an nice HNM LS with enough ppl (enough key jobs) going to fight these "bigger" HNMs, it really shouldn't be a problem.

My first HNM LS believe that war's only purpose is to do a 300% tp Spirits within follow by kiting,
didn't work out for me, I took 8 raise 1 while fighitng KB which was no fun at all.

Luckly for me I have another character lvl 73 BLM which is great for these fight, but in order for me to get items for my war, I always have to go through the long process of dragging two characters to the HNM spot. One to fight and one to lot, very time consuming.

He took the job to 75 and put a lot of work into it. So what if he takes a second job? If that's what you have to do to get what you want for you war then go for it.

I guess i could LvL BLM or Bard. But it would take too long seeing as i dont have a single mage job lvled. -WHM to 37, Bard quest, Bard to 75- would take longer than 30 ranger to 75. + i love DMG. RNG not as fun MNK, but its alot more popular by all hnmls's.
Im doing it 100% for my war. I saw some war friends already in osode, im glad for them. When my ranger hits 75 ill be doing my best to get the same drops , and hopefully one day have a ridil.

That sounds like a good plan, personally if my WAR ever reaches 75 I'll just start on my 36 PLD. I have fun as PLD and I love tanking (which is why I don't mind it as WAR), so maybe that'll be good for HNMs.

As for all those uber items, there is one particular NA ls on my server(won't mention names, but everyone from Titan knows who I'm talkin about) who get Fafnir/Nidhogg just about every day. It's totally ridiculous, and I almost suspect they must free lot their adaman haubs and ridills by now. I saw them once ready to go into a Dynamis and every WAR and DRK had an adaman hauberk. In that kind of ls, all you have to do is show up for the event and lot on the abjuration when the fight's over.

Now, the odds of anyone finding a ls like that are quite slim, but my point was that getting Fafnir/Nidhogg/KB etc CAN be done by NAs. I wish you luck in getting all those awesome items for your WAR and hope that I can get to those levels someday ><.

For those that are still around and remember this lol, I got nin to 75, tanked everything in the game save AV and PW, somewhere along the way converted to PLD.
Thank God Rangers lotting ridills ahead of wars and drks is a distant memory.

Wow major necro bump. It's funny that War is probably tied for the top DD in the game and it really hasn't been changed much at all in the last few years. Did you actually take up War again for stuff like Salvage, Dynamis, etc.?

back then, war wasn't considered top tier DD. It was all RNGs. I'm sure you remember the "no melee" attitudes of HNMLS back then. When the RNG nerf came, it was all about samurai.
I use war for everything. Only time I'm on any other job is when I am needed for THIV or as tank.

Damn, since I made this thread, look at all the changes that have been made to DRK,SAM,DRG,THF, or the 2handed boost... and look at the Dual Wield nerfes.

Yet WAR has remained pretty much the same as it always has been, except retaliation.
