I seem to remember that I added up the maximum STR bonus that a samurai can possibly have from just equipment and it came to something like +63. I'm fairly certain that no-one has ever had that (it would take two vulcan's rings and I can't remember ever seeing one) but I wonder who got the closest . Imagine an Elvaan with his STR merited as high as it will go, +63 from equipment, an another +7 from food and a bard singing Herculean Etude at him . That would create some serious damage dealing potential.

Lol, I really should stop dreaming like this, it's only going to make me depressed at how poor I am .

As a elvaan you should focus more about DEX then STR. I would rather have a solid hitting SAM, then a 1 time big DMG hitter. But hey what do I know? I'm just a TaruTaru trained to 'Cure' :con

At higher levels you can easily get enough accuracy to make hitting not too much of a problem. Then you focus on strength. It's only early on that you need to bother with DEX. In any case, all out STR setups are mostly just swapped in for SATA + WS because it can't miss.

Yup, very true. Even as Mithra I do the same. Of course there's a full set of +ACC and +STR to go alongside every good Samurai.

uhm...of course i have acc+ and dex+ gear lol...all that STR+ equipment u see are all swapped in during the time to WS, then after WS, they go poof! again. my pre-WS gear has acc+52 and dex+26 =)

(acc+: kamewari, optical hat, merman's gorget, haubergeon+1, snipers ringsx2, life belt)
(acc+ becomes only +47 if i use Ushikirimaru instead of kamewari, but dex+ remains the same)
(dex+: haubergeon+1, saotome sune-ate, byakko's haidate)

Hey Sonfreil, do you use Byakko's or Shura Haidate for regular swings while EXPing? I'm wondering if +15 DEX & +5% Haste > +5 STR, +7 Acc only because I do notice a considerable difference on regular attack damage when I pile up STR on Decorative Weapons (I usually melee with +45ish or so, I use Bison Steak, and get Minuetx2)... but do you think Byakko's is better for DoT? Do you notice a lot more crits from the +15 DEX? I'll probably have one soon, so.. I want to save myself the trouble of parsing it. XD

YES on the critical^^. I exp in sky where all the exp mobs are arcane. I also do not have a luxury of having a bard always. Thus, i use Kamewari (critical hit rate+7%), lvl 3 merit on Critical Hit Rate, and the dex+26 (this part is theory lol)...but damn, i do critical a lot...on aura statues, i'd critical hit for ~180-259dmg every 3-5 or so swings.

also, i switch around byakko and shura whenever i feel like it haha...since i have both >.> (my shura is fairly new, i've always had byakko haidate since like forever coz i got that before the point system started...i've been very unlucky on the shura leg abj drops and divine log drops coz of the rules of my old LS...aka, not enough points to purchase(lot) either).

That is because (correct me if i'm wrong here) Vulcan Rings are in the data files but do not actually exist, i have talked with many of the level 100 goldsmithing crafters and actually one of my flame rings was HQ'd however the HQ is the same as the NQ, Vulcan Rings are not implemented in the game. As far as max str, count it up:

Shinsoku: +5
Arco de Velocidad: +1
Wyvern Helm+1/Shura Zunari+1: +6
Spike Necklass: +3
Bushionomimi: +2
Vampire earring/Triumph Earring: +4/+2 (ok vamp is +4 but only active half the time, so take this as you will, i'd consider it str+2 since you can't always rely on it to macro in for ws)
Kirin's Osode: +10
Alky Bracers: +11
Flame Ringx2: +10
Forager's Mantle: +3
Warwolf Belt: +5
Shura Haidate +1: +6
Heroic Boots+1/Hmn Sune-Ate+1: +3

Combine that for a total of STR+67 with Triumph all the time or STR+65/69 if vampire earring is active. If i've missed something let me know.

Also in reply to kayoto i use byakko's in exp when i sub warrior due to the critical hits and Shura with thf sub. Also i cant explain but it seems like double attack kicks in more with dex, completely no base for this, just personal experience.

Ahhhh, I didn't factor in Shinsoku and the bow. Why do websites even include the Vulcan's Ring when it doesn't exist? That's just misleading .

I didn't even know about the Vampire earring. I take it that's a fairly recent addition. I haven't been able to play in a while. In May I will be back when my degree is finally finished.

EDIT: Just did some research.. apparently, Vulcan/Aquilo/Terra etc. Rings aren't implemented into the game yet. Kurokikaze said some SAM on his server named Micken had a pair.. if he could grab a screenshot, that'd be awesome, but.. I've seen 3 other reports of the ring synth having the HQ animation and an NQ ring being the result. ; ;

Oh, and Vampire Earrings aren't Rare, so you could have two of them for a total of +8 STR during night time. Thus, the max +STR you could ever have is +71 without food.

i still think i prefer str+2 earrings over vampire just because you are naked during the day (unless you go crazy and swap to str+2 earrings during the day lol). Also, yes if someone could post a real SS of someone wearing vulcan rings that would be cool... there is a chance that those are like HQ3 versions(which HQ3 of a level 100 synth would be damn near .0001% chance)
