Yes, provided you have updated gear.
They actually end up doing more damage over time than Darks.

Japanese players love Monks. Anyone who knows what we're capable of loves Monks. Which means that you can have trouble sometimes and have amazing success at other times.

The only problem with Monk is that US players think that since they aren't an advanced job, they aren't as good as advanced jobs. Nothing could be further from the truth.

As somebody who lvls Dark and Monk equally, I have to honestly say that Monk does more damage over time, by a significant degree. Also, they seem to build at least 50% more TP than Dark or Dragoon.

Yes. In a party in Qufim, yup I'm there again, as a Mithra monk no less... I dealt 20-30 damage per fist and over on IT crabs with food... and no boost, Our Dark Knight couldn't even do that. (Both of us are lvl 21)

The problem with Monks is we are pretty late bloomers and if your a mithra like me you got to load up on Str items (+14 atr at lvl 21 with food) or +dex as an elf and Galka... and not many people actually do this and give us monks a bad name. People are more likely to store horrible partys with monks in their minds much more then great partys with monks in them.

I've got a good... 20 people I'd partied with who will always jump on the defensive good bandwagon to anyone who disses monks by insults such as we not dealing damage.

And now to shut up... the party invites depend on the people you have partied with and the impressions you leave. Wow people early on and talk spreads, partys get easier later on. Make an ass of yourself and spend hours on end. (My thief and Samurai get tells from people I partied with before... though I'm leveling monk!)

As soon as I hit level 60, I have received party invites within 1 minute of logging in every day. Usually from JP parties. It usually wasn't that bad before, but now especially I feel in demand. ^^
