Can someone please explain for me what, exactly, the key item Lumberjacking does for me? Does it unlock a way to greater HQs for lumber? Does it up the quantity produced by NQ? {Help me out!}

lumberjacking allows you to use 1 crystal to turn 3 logs of the same type into lumber. example:
1 wind crystal + 1 arrowwood log = 1 arrowood lumber
with lumberjacking:
1 wind crystal + 3 arrowood logs + 1 bundling twine = 3 arrowwood lumber
the beauty of lumberjacking is that when you get a high enough level to hq a particular log regularly, all 3 logs will get hq'ed. I commonly craft 6,9, or 12 lumbers from 3 logs with this method.

Yeah, aard has it right. Essentially the use of lumberjack is to cut down on time and crystal use when you rip your own logs. It still comes in pretty handy when you know you can HQ certain things. Like when I make my usual supplies for ranger I end up ripping way more lumber than I need. I would also load up on elm logs (Expensive I Know) and Just lumberjack those and sell the stacks of them at a lower (But at a huge profit none the less) outside the smithing guild.
HQing 6 and 9 elm lumber in one shot = big profit if you have the capital.

sirstyles;
what do elm logs cost on your server now? i took a long break and am returning to find that elm logs used to cost about 3k on ah, but have jumped to 7 or 8k. also, it seems that gilsellers camp the logging points in ghelbspa outpost. is it like this on your server?

Yeah. It's been like that forever. I have'nt seen the prices recently. I would assume with the appreciation of everything else though that it would have jumped from about 5k steady per log up to about7 thousand.
I think shehei per stack soared to around 9k?

I believe there is a vendor Tavzanian Safehold that sells Elm Logs. My Alcemy has never been high enough to really take advantage of it but I might hunt around for him tonight. It would make sense as shihei were 12k a stack on alexander, then the ENM patch happened and I thought I saw something about that, and now shihei are back to 7k

At what level can you HQ Elm at a steady rate, at least out of 12 logs you will get 18+ lumbers? My wood is 60, and I am going to need a shit load of elm for Smithing soon...

elm lumbers cap at around 25, so i'm assuming you will need 75+ woodworking skill in order to consistently hq them.
