Hello! This is the first video I've put together, and it's a guide to farming elementals in sky as a blm. I've been doing this for a little less than a month now I believe and I've made roughly 140,000 limit points, and a lot of gil doing so. In this video I am killing fire elementals, but this stategy works work most of the elementals with a few adjustments of course. I wouldn't recommend trying to solo dark elementals, as you will not be able to sleep or aspir them. Air elementals can be a hassle because of silence and blink. Thunder elementals could cause trouble because you can't stun them....or can you? I've never really tried, I just figured because stun is thunder based. Light elementals are really easy if you've got rdm sub, but they take a bit longer to kill because you have to dispel a lot, and also you'll have to start the fight by casting sleepga to get around their blink. I hope you guys enjoy! I had some problems with the server earlier, so hopefully that's over with. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Good job on the video. If I had access to 'Sky' and were a BLM I would have found it helpful, lol. To me it was simply an advanced look into what I can expect to see in 'Sky', hehehe.

Nice job on the video, Whim. I liked it! One thing I'll add though, you don't need the Pluto's Staff (Dark is ok if you don't have the capital for a Pluto's)+Dark Torque (Should've used Enfeebling Torque anyways, seeing as Sleep is an enfeeb =P) for Sleep. It should stick just fine with an Elemental Torque.

Actually I did notice a HUGE difference when I got my Pluto's staff (funded by my farming) on aspirs and sleep sticking especially. It was definetly a great upgrade. I don't use dark torque for sleeping actually
Actually in the video it does show me as wearing an elemental torque with sleeping equipment. Yes, if you have the enfeebling torque, go ahead and use it! But I do not, and I will not be getting it either because of the price. Currently it's about 1 million on my server, and I'm not about to spend that much because I have no problems sleeping as it is.

Ah yes, I guess the Pluto's for Aspir is kinda key. =P And, I swear I thought I saw a Dark Torque one your sleep equip set. =O Guess not. ><;

defunkt :
And they say RNG's are overpowered. Nice stuff ^^

In parties, they generally are. If a BLM does what you just saw in this video durring an EXP party, they'd get major aggro, so they have to tone it down a bit. RNGs can generally do more DoT without the aggro (we still get a little aggro, but so do BLMs). But if it's RNG vs. BLM going all out, I'm putting my money on the BLM. =P (and that's coming from a RNG XD).
To stay on subject though, great video. You don't see many tutorial videos, so it was a nice change. Also, the music was nice, and the quality was pretty good. Good stuff.

why not use water IV, wouldnt that do great DMG to fire elementals?

Water IV does not do greater damage than Aero IV, it's just resisted less, but as you saw in the video I wasn't resisted at all the entire time on any of my elemental spells. Also in the video I got the weather bonus at one point. ^^

Pluto's Staff was the first HQ staff I bought and I've never regretted it, I'd recommend it to anyone who solos
Light clusters are actually back to double the price of fires on my server (9k last time I looked) so I think I'll go for some of those even though they're harder to chain. Even though I never chained a Fire elemental
I watch TV while resting so I'm not the most efficient farmer.
One thing though Whimsical, how much exp/hr would you say you average with the chains and everything? I'm feeling the need for merits so if chaining makes a big difference I might bring some juice and pay more attention.

They look good to me, considering BLM sucks at farming most other places. 9k x 7 kills per hour (this is conservative) + crystals + ~1800 exp + a few extra clusters from getting 2 or 3 (normally 1 bonus per hour) plus about 3 seals.... it's good. That's already around 70k before seals are factored in, AND you get exp.
Only thing that sucks is they don't stack, so you do a lot of travelling.
Edit: And if they're 5k, you can get fire clusters for easier kills. Still good when you include the exp I reckon.

What do elementals con as at that level?
Also BLM can farm pretty well in lower level areas, especially beastmen forts. I farmed with a BLM as my THF and he traine d abunch of Orcs levels 30-56 in Davoi and let loose a Firaga III and not only did we each get like 5k in gill but also Plate mail and mythril armor drops. And about 15 beastmen seals. BLMS are dangerous...just blowing up the entire orcish army with a single spell.

The elementals are T, 200-240 exp no chain. At level 74 they aren't much harder and give 240-280, so are even better I think.
