pretty simple, what can you use to make a demo of what your playing, i'd have alot of fun with this >smile.gif. And if it runs outside of ffxi, how do you bypass the fullscreen error to use it?

You can use fraps.

http://www.fraps.com

Be aware though that using it will drop your framerate pretty significantly =). You'll need a little bit of HD space as well.

What FPS should you record at. I tried at 30FPS, but then I couldn't even do anything in the game. ><* It's annoying because I want to make some demos myself, but I can't get anything off on time because of the framerate drop. ; ;

30fps is pretty much the standard for a smooth video. If your computer can't handle it, lower resolution. I don't know if fraps has that option (never used it for video) But if you lower your game's resolution, it should in turn affect how smoothly it records? As I said I haven't tried it yet, but I do plan to *someday* (I have a 'project' I want to do myself...)

And, for editing this footage, I recommend the program Adobe Premiere. Very versitile, and all-around easy to pick-up editing program.

Also, check out; http://www.doom9.org
Very great things there from DVD ripping, to editing. smile.gif

on a p4 3ghz with ati radeon 9800, fraps doesn´t hamper my game performance at all when I play at 1024x768, and record videos at half size and 25 fps. for quick and dirty encoding, get virtualdub and the 3vix codec, it yields decent results at fair file sizes.

I have some issues recording with fraps, maybe some of you can help me out?

First off, PC specs are 512 ddr, 2.4 g pentium processor, win xp, ati radeon 9800 pro.

Now, I would really like to make a recording when I do my SMN Maat fight very, very soon (was gonna try it this afternoon but alas). I set my video capture hotkey to F12, I use it, comp freezes. I tried all different frame rates, from 30 - 15, and even lowered through ffxi config, my overlay and background res.

Any ideas guys? Right now, ffxi is installed on my windows hd, and fraps is also on this drive - and yes I have the full version.

>,< is there anyway to record video on ps2 then send it to computer?

I mean i know i can't record a video in the game and send it to my hdd then mail it to myself.

However i figured there was something i could plug into my vcr that i could run to my pc and into another program.

Like snappy or some other video capture thing

When I did QA work for Interplay they had the XBoxes rigged so that you could take screenshots and video captures from a remote location.

While I was there, I remember looking up some hardware to put what your TV sees onto your computer. I just forgot what it was called.

It's been done before . . . just forgot the name.

I'm sure somebody smarter than me will tell me.

I checked out fraps.com. It's a very interesting program and I am thinking of buying it. However I dislike purchasing the first thing I happen upon. Can Everyone please divulge what they use for video capture of FFXI and also links to the site perhaps? Last thing I wanna do is spend the cash for fraps and discover there is a much better capture program available for less or even worse...free.

Yeah there has to be some program that doesn't require money. Hopefully Someone knows because I really don't feel like paying either >.<
