[red]Updating in progress tongue.gif Help out![/red]

Ok I have made a goldsmithing guide and decided I would share it with you guys.

Leveling

0-5 Brass Ignots (3x copper + 1x zinc + fire)
These shouldn't really hurt your pocket so I suggest holding onto these for later. If they do hurt your pocket quit while you still have time Goldsmithing is a extremely expensive craft (the most expensive arguably) and it will cost you roughly off the top of my head 80 mill. I will note a more detailed price later in the guide.

5-8 Brass Sheets (1x brass ignot + fire)
Keep these for the next sythesis.

8-10 Brass Flowerpots (3x brass sheet + fire)
This is where you put your sheets into to make brass flowerpots. You can invest these in gardening (they are fire element) or you can sell them on the AH for small profit.

10-14 Brass Hairpins (1x brass ignot + wind)
If you have brass sheets left and your capped at lvl 10 turn these into brass hairpins. If you don't then buy a stack if brass ingots just to get you closer to silver ignots.

14-19 Silver Ignots (4x silver beastcoin + fire or 4x silver ore + fire)
This is a good stage because you will make profit here. I suggest doing silver beastcoins if you are below lvl 14 until you reach lvl 15 or 16. Then at that stage turn into ores. Be on the lookout for days at the guild when the guild sells silver ore for 329 gil. This usually happens after a day the silver ore is really expensive and no one buys any. If you got the gil save all your ignots for 19-27.

19-21 Silver Ignots (6x silver nuggets + silver ore + fire) Server variable
Do these if you want but I have almost never seen silver nuggets in the AH so I don't think you can.

19-27 Silver Hairpins (1x silver ignot + wind)
These end up sucking alot. It's your first money pothole you will encounter. These sell horribly for profit so at 27. If you got gil desythesis these for more skill. However when I desythesized 12 of these I only ended up getting 4 ignots and 0.6 skill.

27-34 Jeweled Silver Rings (NQ gem + silver ring + earth)
This seems to be the cheapest sythesis to get you to 34. I don't want you guys to lose money so I am throwing in this recipe to get to 34 so you don't fail alot on the next recipe.
NQ Gem's on my server sell for 1k and silver rings for 1.5k or 2.5k (I don't remember) in the Jeuno shop "Gems by Kashma". This is probally the cheapest place you'll get these.

34-38 Mythril Ignots (4x mythril beastcoin + fire til 36 then 4x mythril ore + fire)
The ore's are kind of harder to come across but are alot cheaper than beastcoins. If you to get through this quickly do mythril beastcoins til 38 because that is when they cap.

38-40 Mythril Sheets (Mythril Ignot + fire)
These are pretty decent for profit. The fire crystal stacks sell for 5k on my server and the sheets sell for 10k above Mythril Ignots. So you'll get 5k profit a stack if your under the margin of the price it took you to make Mythril Ignots. Save these if you can.

40-48 Silver Bangles (3x silver ignot + fire) This stage sucks
These are extremely annoying. They don't sell on the AH and they go for a crappy price to vendors. I beleive I had to make 36 of these to get to 48. But still this stage is very very boring and useless.

48-52 Gold Ignots (4x Gold Beastcoin + fire, 4x gold ore + fire or 6x gold nuggets + gold ore + fire)
This stage kind of sucks at the current economy of the servers. You lose money on these. Gold coins lose 80k a stack on my server, gold ores lose 160k a stack on my server and gold nuggets lose 160k a stack on my server. I have tried doing Jeweled Mythril Rings for this stage but the skill ups are too low so you end up losing more gil than gold ignots. Sell your gold ignots to the AH if your having money problems. If not keep them in a place for later skill.

52-58 Mythril Cuisses (2x mythril sheet + ram leather + fire)
I tried these and they seem to cost considerably less than other sythesis but the skill ups are really really bad.

52-57 Gold Earrings (2x gold ignot + wind)
These ended up being really good for skill up but sucked if you failed. I ended up making 10k an earring because they sell for 150k and on my server two gold ignots sell for 70k each. But you can probally make more if you buy a stack of gold ignots. On my server each gold ignot in a stack costs 66,666 (Muahahaha).

58-60 Gold Rings (2x gold ignots + fire)
Sugested by Ashlee. I guess this is really server variable. But you need to calculate the loss/gain difference between platnium ignots and gold rings. But if you lose more on platnium ignots I suggest doing this. It will kind of close the huge gap for platnium ignots.

57-64 Platnium Ignot (4x plat beastcoin + fire, 4x plat ore + fire, 6x plat nugget + plat ore + fire)
These will break you
These hurt alot. The beastcoins are never in the AH and the ore's are expensive making a stack on my server cost 1,536,000 and they sell for 938,000. However platnium nuggets are awsome and they are the only type you can use to cap you at 64. Platnium nuggets on my server cost 70k and platnium ores for 32k. So 32k + 35k = 67k x 12 = 804,000. Thats about 132k profit if you have no failures.

59-67 Hydro Patas (1x mythril sheet + 1x bone patas + 1x animal glue + fire)
These are pretty good (better than mythril cuisses). I usually see one or two bazaars at the guild with tons of these in their bazaar (bone patas) so you can probally find a bonecrafter and pair up with him.

67-70 Platnium Ring (2x platnium ignot + fire)
These sell decently because of high lvl goldsmithers but they are expensive.

70-75 Jeweled Gold Ring (HQ2 gem + gold ring + earth)
These are very bad unless you HQ.

[red]Alternative (Stubbie)[/red]
70-78 Morion Earring (Will add in soon)
Yes it really, really, really is in the long run way less loss than gold buckler (DO NOT start gold bucklers till as close to the cap on them as possible unless you want to straight up piss away 20mil+). Unless market is flooded the loss on the earrings isnt as bad as buckler, you have to think resale there, the gold buckler is trash.

72-80 Gold Buckler (1x gold ignot + 1x targe + 1x mercury + fire)
These sell for crap and it might be hard to get targes depending on your server. But they have the cheapest loss if you fail. Morion Earrings lose alot of money if you fail unlike gold bucklers and at the moment you do not make gil on NQ of morion earrings.

[red]Alternative (79-80) in red thanks to Stubbie[/red]
80-87 Elemental Beads (1x elemental bead + wind)
These are pretty good. You will either break even or get profit.
[red]you "can" start doing beads at 79 i did on occasions but only craft on windsday if you do and use moghancement wind if that really helps.. not sure if it does every break i ever had on ore was critical. Even still i break them on rare occasion when making for my woodworking buddy and i think it is one of those things, that is always a critical break if it fails =([/red]

87-89 Orachiulum Ignot (3x orachiulum ore + 1x platnium ore + fire)
These are very expensive ; ;.

87-92 Muscle Belt (1x gold ignot + 1x brass ignot + 1x manticore leather + fire)
These really suck if you break but alot cheaper than other methods.

[red]Alternative thanks to Stubbie[/red]
90+ Koenig Shields + Cursed Gear

92-95 Jeweled Platnium Rings (HQ3 gem + platnium ring + earth)
These are decent but sell very slow to the AH. You will break even or make profit here.

95-100 Jeweled Orachulum Ring (Elemental Bead + Orachulum Ring + earth)
This is EXTREMELY slow. I suggest you take your time on this and try not to flood the market. You can lose up to 800k if you fail one of these.

Well that covers it for leveling.

Money Making

HQ CP items
These are pretty good. Right now I can make 35k a sythesis on these.

HQ Gems
These are pretty bad til about 60+. At level 50 I was breaking even on these unless I got lucky with 2 HQ3's.

HQ Gold Rings
This is the current method a incredibly rich lvl 100 JP goldsmither on my server is currently using his name is Lavish.

Platnium Ignots
This makes about 132k a stack on my server. If you sell these overnight you can make 924k per 7 stacks.

Cursed Pieces
Simple as that. Alot of end game people want these.

Barone Pieces
Lots of DRG want these.

Costs
Let's say you need to make 10 more syths every 20 levels. Starting at 10 sythes per 1.0.
All of these are done with by keeping your sythesized materials.

0-20
321,000 without sales.

20-40
1,121,000 without sales.

40-60
28,065,000 without sales.

60-80
41,384,000 without sales.

80-100
267,975,000 without sales.

Total
338,865,000.
This number is huge and thats if you don't sell anything. I estimate that with sales it will probally be down to 80 million gil.

Directions and Moons

I found this site to be highly resourceful. If you find anyone looking for directions and/or moons just point them to this site.

Good luck with Goldsmithing.

For all the shit I gave you I guess I should be one of the first to post....

/clap leathlord

/salute leathlord

Just glancing at it I'd say to look into silver/mythrill/gold rings... they were right at break even on my server due to some higher lvl GS's using the HQ gem rings as profit synths...

I was going to include gold rings but the silver and mythril and gold rings on my server are kind of a loss but I guess it should be a server varabiel. I'll add in gold rings.

EDIT: Why is no one making comments? ; ;

Well, silver nuggets are rarely available. I recommend 12-18 on silver beastcoins, 18-20 on ores.
After that, do your hairpins, or if you have other synthesis skill, do silver bullets and thf tools.
Do any random thing until 29, then do synth-desynth on silver rings with the cheapest gem you can find.
Once you're 32, start Mythril from beastcoins. Switch to ores at 38. Save a few stacks of the ingots and turn them all into sheets, that will take you to 41.

Park your butt in rabao once you get 41 and desynth mythril earrings until 42. You'll make quite a bit of money and it should take about 2-3 hours of desynthing.

I really recommend staying away from silver bangles. I did synth-desynth of gemmed earrings to get to 45; sphene was the cheapest L2 gem for me at the time. Black earrings also sell near-cost. If you desynth a mythril ingot, sell it, don't make it back into anything.

Once you're 45, start gold ingots from beastcoins. These should be even or profit, but you will end up losing some money on breakage.

At 51, move onto gold-nugget and gold-ore ingots. These should be even or slight loss. If you can team up with an alchemist, you can save yourself a lot of trouble. This will take you to 54.

Park your butt in Rabao again and desynthesize earring until you have like 10-12 stacks of mythril ingots. Turn them all into sheets. You're going to be using these to make hydro claws, which sell to vendor for ~2500g. Your target is 58, or 57 if you have the glasses. Once you hit this point, make plat ingots from nuggets, until 64.

After 64, do the same thing but with bone patas making hydro patas. This will take you to 67.

Everything past this point is server dependent. I suggest looking into plat rings at this point; those will take you to 70. After that, gemming gold rings will work. Once you are 70+2 or 71+1 you can also make morion and phantom earrings to 78. Also make gold bucklers to 79 or 80. Your target is 79+2, where you can start to make beads. This will take a while. Spend this time getting a woodworking mule up to at least 86, preferrably 100+3. You will need this for making staves.

Beads take you to 87. You can now make the L4 rings -- ruby, emerald, etc -- if you have both guild items. This, and random contract synths, will take you to 95. At this point, you'll be making ore-based rings (L5) and other random contract synths.

lol. I fail to see how mythril earrings are good skill up seeing as how they fail alot. Plus the fact you can buy them in lower jeuno. Im @52 and gold nugget ignots give no skill after 40 sythesis on new moon. So that's a no go. Gold Earrings make profit so you might as well make these.

*DESYNTH* of mythril earring. Never synth these. Buy for 4100 in rabao and desynth for 1 or 2 ingots. I made ~200k going 41->42 in about 2-3 hours. If it wasn't so damn boring I'd do it all the time for money.

Gold nugget ingots skill you up to 54.

i'm just starting at goldsmithing but, just looking at your very first step...

wouldn't it be cheaper to do copper ingots until level 3 since copper ore is 9-16 gil each from the goldsmithing guild? (especially since brass caps at level 9 and you'd be having a lot of breaks at level 0) you'd not get any skill ups on breaks on brass between 0-3.9 since it'd be greater than a 5 level gap, so you'd be wasting money and losing potential skill ups.

cost copper ingot synth = 9 gil x4 ores + fire crystal, plus ability to skill up on breaks through level 3...
cost brass ingot synth = 9 gil x3 copper ores + 500-1000 gil zinc ore + fire crystal, minus ability to skill up on breaks until level 4...

I'd go with his method and start Brass at 0 if you don't mind losing slightly more gil at first. You'll need a lot of brass ingots from the 10-14 and also any left over can be sold for profit to cover for any losses that might have incurred from 0. Since Fire Crystals are already quite pricy as they are, making Copper Ingots (unless you plan to use them) isn't as good as Brass Ingots. It might be more expensive but the skillgains will be done faster as well.

Glad to see you've actually done some reasearch and made a guide. See all the good responses you're starting to get now? Beats getting flamed if you ask me happy.gif

Honestly, I am very impressed Leathlord. Before this I just thought you were another one of this forums lazy azzes. Good job and thanks for proving me wrong as well as proving that *research* is always possible and in the long run more helpful to the people that do it.

Where abouts can you start making a profit :

your turn....

Did you even read the guide at all?!?!... talk about lazy... you wanna know when you can make profit, but didn't even read the guide?!?!...

here... I'll list the key phrases you should focus on to help answer your question

Leathlord :

or you can sell them on the AH for small profit.

This is a good stage because you will make profit here

These are pretty decent for profit.

I ended up making xxxG an item.

Thats about xxx profit if you have no failures.

You will either break even or get profit.

You will break even or make profit here.

If you sell these overnight you can make xxx per 7 stacks.

looks like he told you when you can make profit a few times.... if you'd have just read his post

Oops I forgot to post that.

Darktaru: Yes profit is server based on some sythesis I put it "Server Variable". It really depends what level you are for profit. If your around 20-30 then check the guild everytime it opens. If its not around or below 400g then go grab a lvl 1 and go kill some lizards for crystals.

Aurik: I agree that mythril earrings are pretty good but in Jeuno. I had no support or items in MH. I was buying earrings at the shop there for 4.5k. These were my results: 12/20 mythril earrings. On my server thats.
4,500 x 20 = 90,000 + (3 stacks of lightning) 9,000 = 99,000
Now the ignots are:
8,333 x 12 = 100,000
However slap those into ignots and its:
100,000 + 5,000 = 110,000 on my server.

Right now at 52 I am doing gems, CP items and gold earrings (also skill up).

I do black and white rocks when it's around new moon and when its not I do other rocks since the HQ1's aren't crap.

For CP items: Earth + Legionares Knuckles + Brass Sheet = Republican Knuckles (HQ1)

I HQ this about 1/3 of the time and the NQ of these sell for the same price as the Legionares Knuckles. So I make about 38,000 per pair of knuckles (not including smelly taxes >=D). But try not to mass produce these they rarely sell because of the lack of smart monks around that level and if you flood the market people will try to underbid and then quit making u lower prices.

and for gold earrings look up at my guide.

*Update* I have now posted a excellent resource for directions and moons.

most expensive matearials means slight profit most of the time, simply becuase people dont have the gil to spare on it

and full moon is really good for skill

I just made 45 Gold last night. What I found to be less of a loss so far was mythril rings from 40-45. On garuda, it was a 28k loss per stack of mythril ingots. Ingots -88 k sell rings for 10k each. I think that is a loss less than silver bangles. Now I need to find out what is next for me depending on server prices.
