I know its good for skill and no the most expensive materials does not mean profit all the time. If you beleive in that then do Gold Bangles until 70 (3x gold ignot + fire) or Mythril breastplates (2x darksteel sheet + 2x mythril sheet + 2x ram leather + fire). If that's what you beleive.

Solandier: Personally I would have done bangles because one now you have alot of rings to sell (normally two mythril ignots would be twice as much as a ring) and you can't desythesis the rings very well as much as bangles. Plus bangles take you farther.

To the person who said why not do copper ignots? Well because you get more brass ignots for later sythesis and fire crystals are very very gay now. I personally did copper ignots and hairpins until about 4 or 6 but that was when I could buy a fire crystal for 50g and a stack for 1k.

Good guide ^^ I see a lot of people who are trying Goldsmithing that rush to get their skill up. The key, once into the high money stages (around 50s) is to be patient. If you get anxious, then you buy stuff for too much gil, or break synths, and it only pisses you off.

you have to be smart in what to use tho, i wont use expensive skill items that sell for nothing

I have always found the best skill ups are on the opposite day of the crystal and when the sythesis breaks. It's alot better to do cheap items when your going to break.

Demetrius= Thanks for the tips it is true. In the 50's I kind of screwed up sometimes like recently for CP I bought 3 heater shields for CP for 30k each when I could have probally made them for 20-25k but I would have to go to Jeuno. I personally at 51 skipped finishing gold ignots because of costs and gold earrings for me right now are excellent. Now I need to find a way to get a mule to Jeuno to help sell them. So far I have made about 200k and thats even with breaks.

Silver Arrowheads are a good alternative to Silver Hairpins. They cap at 27 also and no need to desynth them. Just sell them in Jueno or Sandy. I did Silver Bullets from 20-24 because I had Alchemy at 60 already. Silver Hairpins suck.<<<< (Just my opinion) Nice guide!!!!

i'm just starting at goldsmithing but, just looking at your very first step...

wouldn't it be cheaper to do copper ingots until level 3 since copper ore is 9-16 gil each from the goldsmithing guild? (especially since brass caps at level 9 and you'd be having a lot of breaks at level 0) you'd not get any skill ups on breaks on brass between 0-3.9 since it'd be greater than a 5 level gap, so you'd be wasting money and losing potential skill ups.

cost copper ingot synth = 9 gil x4 ores + fire crystal, plus ability to skill up on breaks through level 3...
cost brass ingot synth = 9 gil x3 copper ores + 500-1000 gil zinc ore + fire crystal, minus ability to skill up on breaks until level 4...

I'd go with his method and start Brass at 0 if you don't mind losing slightly more gil at first. You'll need a lot of brass ingots from the 10-14 and also any left over can be sold for profit to cover for any losses that might have incurred from 0. Since Fire Crystals are already quite pricy as they are, making Copper Ingots (unless you plan to use them) isn't as good as Brass Ingots. It might be more expensive but the skillgains will be done faster as well.

I went 0-3 on copper and never had to buy any brass ingots to skill up till I could make silver ingots. I actually had a few left over and turned them into sheets so that a friend could use them to sign a republic subligar for me.

From 0-12 I spent alot of time in KRT with my THF at 45. Kill worms...lots of them and craft your drops. Pick chests and while your running around try for crypt ghost and goblin gruel. You can actully make alot of money doing this to help fuel your crafting habit. Dont bother with Spook, not worth the time away from the worms and usually to many people camping him to make him a viable otion.
