Just a bump to ask a question..

I've recently gotten a penance robe (for really cheap, actually. Only 750,000gil) and it allows me to change my royal redingote augments..

I know for a fact I'm keeping Pet:MACC/MATK; however I am unsure of the second augment... It's most defintely a tossup between Pet:ACC and Pet:Da/Crit...

Input?

My Opinion. Just for garuda purposes. Pet: Acc. You need all your hits to land for it to be effective.

That's slightly what i was leaning for. And I'm thinking I'll just have two predator claws sets.. One with redingote for high-level things where windblade isn't favorable, and one with AF2 body for low level things where, again, wind blade isn't as good. (Imps for ISP, Dynamis/Ein, etc)

I've done some testing on my own. Sorry, but I don't have any numbers or facts to back up my findings, but just off personal experience. I have 5/5 Atk Merits and Use RR Wish ACC for Predator Claws. With testing that against the AFv2 body, although every now and then with the body you get some really good spike damage, Overall DoT is better with the RR. I played with them both a lot solo'n imps in Caedarva. So I just stuck with the RR regardless. I really hate it when I do a 2800 PC followed up with a 314 PC. I'd rather do a consistant 1800-2200 every time.

Yeah, I also like the consistancy.. I merited 5 physical accuracy and 5 magical attack. I went the accuracy route since I hate whiffing pclaws.

My first completed Magian Weapon. Probably not everyone elses first choice, but I'm really liking the damage output from Thunderstorm and Heavenly Strike right now.

I was actually wondering what happened to you. I remember you from waaaay back.

I am playing XIV, but it feels more like a grind than anything. The new innovative things they added to it are cool, but they more or less took what was so great about XI and threw it out the window. XIV just ain't fun. If you aren't leveling in some way or doing the very few (and spread apart) storyline missions, there's not much else to do! I have yet to see any intriguing side quests. Simply put: Too much grind for too little reward. There's even imbalance in how you level. Some classes consistently receive less skill gain than others. (Spellcasters, for instance, really get the shaft here, so although partying IS fun, we just don't get as much SP as others.) I'm really hoping they fix these issues soon... I mean, if they don't before December, they're more or less screwed... That's when Cataclysm is coming out. I like XI better as a game, but unfortunately, for me, it feels outdated. I'm nostalgic for what I remember from way back in the day... the community, the new content, etc. Now, I just don't feel the same way about all the new stuff as I once did. I guess I'm stuck missing both XI and wishing XIV were better. lol

Pretty much the above.
December for me is also last chance regarding FF14, if after that it's still more of the same I'll put it back on the cupboard for a few months and check again.

XI definitally became a better game for casual players.
Stuff is a lot easier to get, HNMs as well as most of the gear they drop are pretty much obsolete and there's a lot of new content.
(There are still a few exceptions)

Downside of it all: They pretty much did a WoW style gear reset.
A lot of people that were at the top gearwise at level 75 are now getting screwed over because almost everything they've worked years for is now replacable by equally good or better equipment which is a lot easier to obtain.
It's really not a bad thing, but being one of them I simply can't shake this "I got screwed over" feeling.

All in all, it's a completely different game now.

Yeah, that's partially why I can't bring myself to really get involved now. It took me so long to get everything I got that I'd be sad to just... give it all up. Even when I stopped playing for years, some of my equipment was STILL one of the top choices when I came back, so I was never outdated no matter how many months I was gone. But now... just not the same.

As for FFXIV, I'll probably have December be my cutoff point too. They really need to do a UI overhaul soon and add some interesting content or face the consequences.

The big fix patch is this month actually. I updated my patch files yesterday, logged on for about 1 minute before my wife told me to "turn the fucking game off." Not much of a loss there.

I think that has different reasons.
