Did a search and found no relevent topic headers, so here goes. I've seen elsewhere...alla...that a few people parsed, or did whatever it is those zealots do, out how often/how much CMP kicks in/saves. If I recall correctly, as I no longer have access to Alla(work filters (not really all that disappointed) suck) it was overall, something like 7-7.5% MP saved. Does anyone have anything more recent to back this up. Thanks.

i think its like 10-50% MP saved and the chance to kick in with lvl 1 conserver is uhhh 15% or close to it... with AF2 boots or igqira boots it kicks it to like 20%~

84.95% of the time for a random amount of 1 to (cost -1).

I'm a RDM/BLM. Everytime I notice Conserve MP kick in its on Refresh. 20 instead of 40.
Not sure of a rate (chance of happening) or anything, but I'm fairly certain its always 50% of the spell cost.

Its not always 50% but that is the max of what Conserve Mp will save you.

Anything other than experience to back that up Kobalt?

From my experince with merits, exp pt's and just goofing around, Conserve MP is totally luck based. Like it says when it describes it it has a "Chance" of reducing MP Spells.
It's all total luck. The Conserve MP+ gear makes that chance greater.

Conserve MP naturally only activates once every 10spells-ish if I remember the study correctly. and the Conserve MP lv50 Cotehardie activated Conserve MP almost every third spell? All I know for sure is, the Conserve MP armor pieces conserve alot more MP than you can naturally (from experience)

So one using BLM as a sub, should not expect much grace from CMP?

I've never had a spell get saved for over 50% mp. The most times I notice it is when I warp myself. Sometimes it'll get lowered to half, and sometime save me 20 mp, 30 so on.
And I believe the more conserve mp gear you have the more it kicks in (Like the Double attack trait on warrior's AF and AF2 pieces).
I'm at +8 conserve mp atm. It kicks in somewhat often, just wish it would kick in at 50% saving more often when the big nukes come (Thundaga III, Tier IV, etc)

I've had Thundaga 3 cost 90 MP before. Usually costs 322. Just FYI.

Ok correct me if I'm wrong but i'm a taru blm, I just threw in two merits of MaxMP up. Now I notice Conserve MP is kicking in a lot more often.
I believe that MaxMP merit is the way to go if you want more Conserve MP benefit (it's a hidden effect of your MP pool).
I could be superstitious but I swear - I can solo Very Tough now without resting very much since I merited Max MP up, before the MaxMP merits I had to rest a lot.
I've observed it kicking in to the point where it's a noticeable effect with my MaxMP merits.
Let me know what you think. So far there is no explicit "Conserve MP" merit in itself, i think MaxMP increases it.

enjoy:
Now that I reached 73 and got my weskit, I finally did my goal of testing and figuring out exactly how conserve mp and gear that effects conserve mp work...
The experiment involved 100 casts of warp, with and without the igqira weskit, and recording the mp cost for each set of 100 casts... From this I counted how much mp was conserved total, the number of times conserve mp was triggered, average mp conserved per trigger, and maximum/minimum mp conserved when triggered...
Results are as follows;
Constants
Total MP used without trait: 10000
Total casts: 100
Unmodified Conserve mp
Total MP used: 9308
Total MP conserved: 692
Total number of triggers: 28
Average mp conserved/trigger: 24.7%
Highest % Conserved: 50% (1 time)
Lowest % Conserved: 7% (4 times)
Average mp conservation over time: 6.92%
Conserve mp +2 (Weskit)
Total MP used: 9340
Total MP conserved: 660
Total number of triggers: 25
Average mp conserved/trigger: 26.4%
Highest % Conserved: 50% (3 times)
Lowest % Conserved: 7% (3 times)
Average mp conservation over time: 6.6%
Unexpectedly, without the converve mp bonus from the weskit, I actually had more mp conserved... This is mostly due to more triggers in the first 100 casts then in the second 100 casts.. A difference of 3 triggers resulted in 32 more mp being conserved... However this is most likely a experiment irregularity due to chance and would be negated if I took it to 1000 casts or so... What is important though, is that with the bonus from the weskit, each trigger was more likely to conserve a higher % of the total MP... Since we are dealing with 10000mp rather then 100 casts, any random effects are minimized and we can see more clearly the defining trends...
Comparing the average mp conserved with and without, we see that that +2 bonus resulted in a 1.7% increase over the basic conserve mp trait... I would imagine if one was to take this sort of experiment to 1000 casts, the difference would get closer and closer to 2%... From this we can reasonably believe that what value of the conserve mp trait is on equipment is the percentage bonus given to the average mp concerved when the trait is triggered and has no effect on how often the trait is actually triggered itself...
So, for putting the base value of the conserve mp trait at 25%, with genie weskit and relic boots (combined give the highest boost to concerve mp currently available) the average mp conserved/trigger will cap out at about 33%
As for actual trigger rate, 100 casts is insufficent to put an exact value on it, but I imagine it is somewhere in the 25-30% range...
Putting it all together, the basic trait gives us a 6.25-7.5% total conservation rate... With optimal modifiers this is boosted to a 8.25-9.9% total conservation rate...
Not a substantial bonus, but it makes a difference and with this info we can better compare conserve mp bonuses on current and future gear to alternative gear to help decide what will serve us better ^^

according to this MP converve aromr + is not great.

Sorcerer's Sabots = CMP +5
Iqgira Weskit = CMP +2
Water Ring = CMP +15 on watersday
Total= CMP +22
When ls fights Kirin on watersday and blm pt has ballad, I can consistantly nuke Aero III everytime recast hits 0 untill I run out of mps while the other blms nuke, rest and usually get 1/2 way through their mp pool. I dont have any numbers to report but I do notice a significant difference from the +7 CMP and the +22 CMP

So the LVL50 Armor from Brygid the stylist returns is actually pretty good for its lvl since it gives +4 conserve mp?
