I just wanted some insight as to what others thought were the most useful (or useless) ninja "spells" and why? SO when I get to ninja I know what spells NOT to waste my money on. Also what are the best things to equip since I'm going NIN/THF. Any thoughts/comments?

The most useful ninjitsu and ninja gear and why?

So far as I know, Utsusemi: Ichi is the most useful Ninjitsu, but I could be wrong. I think the Blink effect of it is real nice though. And +DEX items are always a good bet. The more you hit, the faster your TP builds. +AGI also helps NIN and THF thanks to there naturally high evade ability.

Save your money and get an Emporer's Hairpin. That is one of the best items in the game for you. Also NIN/THF is not that great a combo, however THF/NIN is really nice.

Utsusemi ichi the greatest? Well the whole utsusemi line is the greatest, ichi being the worst of which. AGI and DEX equip is gonna be what you want... Emporer's hairpin and leaping boots.... I want them both~!

I'm gonna be the best THF/NIN on Carbuncle, kid... Recognize

LOL emperor hairpin . . .I dont know if you ppl have read ne of my other post but that i shudder at the thought of ever camping that NM ever again . . .allthough i probably will >< and maybe one time ill even get the damn hairpin. that hairpin takes a butt load of luck to get or just a butt load of many either way the term butt load seems to apply

Darc, ALL the ninjitsu helps.
I use all of them.
Well, if i had to look back, i wouldn't buy the elemental ichis. Too long of a cast at that low lvl for 12-24 damage. The Ni version does 99-175+ well worth it when correctly used. Casting time is awesome too.
Currently, I use blind, paralyze, slow to help maintain aggro
I bring 1 set of each elemental.
I use elementals 3-4 times. One to debuff the Renkie, and one to magic burst with. (ninjitsu and brd elemental debuff do stack, saw freeze do 1600 damage from a MB once...although i still don't think that was woth 308 mp...)
Hope that helps ^^
edit:
as for gear: This is what i will have at lvl 55 (all items bought, some waiting to hit lvl 55, lvl 54 atm)
hand: Yoto+1
hand: Yoto+1
helm: Emperor Hairpin
Neck: Roya guard neck (+4 atk, +4 acc) (current, tiger sole)
earring: 2 dodge earrings
Body: Mastes Gi (current Shinobi Gi)
Glove: Ochiudo's kote
Ring1: +3 dex
Ring2: +3 agi
Belt: Life Belt
Back: Nomad Mantle
leggins: Ninja AF
feet: fuma Kyans.
Reasons for this setup, i have enough evasion that i can avoid attacks during Blink Downtime, enough Atk to do decent damage, enough accuracy that i won't miss. All to help me keep hate.
I stopped lvling for 2 weeks to get this gear. Soon as i get the Bat Cape (i think, the +5 evasion) i will be lvling again. Hopefully to the 70's and not worry about the gear.
trying to save up for spd belt. but that belt alone cost all my gear combined and then some. (1.5 m gil) not sure if 6% haste is worth that much.

I use all my ninjutsu also.
Usually though, I save the powders I have for paralyze, slow, and blind for soloing, and use my nukes and skills for aggro.
hand: Kabutowari
hand: Kabutowari
helm: Emperor Hairpin
neck: Royal Guard's Collar
earring: 2 Dodge Earrings
body: Arhat's/AF
glove: Ochiudo's Kote
ring: 2 Tiger Rings
belt: Life Belt
back: Amemit Mantle
legs: Arhat's/AF
feet: Arhat's/AF
I opted mostly for atk and accuracy mainly to just do more damage in the end, which helps me maintain aggro. I did go all out on evasion for awhile, to see what that was like. I had +42 evasion and I ate ogre eel, which gave an additional 5 evasion. It turned out that it didn't make that much of a difference. I was getting hit just as much, but I was hitting for 0 instead.

I agree with Faie (/stares at Faie's equipment O.O)
at first I was gobbling up +agi equipment thinking "'oh, well iw ont get hit as much!" but when you start partying and fighting IT's you'll find you'll be relying on Utsusemi more than your actual evasion, and you'll be getting hit just as much, so I started grabbing ATK Up items instead, and the odd Accuracy items, which at my level..practically don't exsist >.<
So I guess evasion boosters would be fine for low level soling, but after that i would reccomend buffing up your attack power and accuracy.

Here's a
hint...
1- If you think buying Ninjutsu Spells is a waste of money, then why be a
Ninja?
2- All Ninjutsu's are respectably fine for several reasons.
a) Having Utsusemi
: Ichi = Blink
Lvl 15 Elementals = Elemental + Debuff
c) Tonko = low level
Invisible.
2- A thing people don't realize is that the higher lever your Ninjutsu
Skill is the more efficiant your casts will become.
So by that, Having all 6
elementals is your best option.
BUT to save you a whack load of cash....
Here
is my suggestion, Go to bastok do the Shady Buisness quest at least 30 times. for good
mesure i don't care what other ppl say if its 15-25 do it 30 times.
Average cost for
Zinc Ore 300-400 on my server.
now take 350x4 = 1,400
now do 1, 400 x 30 = 42,
000
Therefore, you can now attain The Tonko:Ichi, Utsusemi: Ichi scroll quests and
that is a definate giol saver instead of paying 15-20k for Tonko : Ichi and 120-160k for
Utsusemi Ichi.............BUT
Here is the kicker.... You can now buy the level 15
elemental scrolls in Norg for a much cheaper fraction say 1.8k at that fame level vs. 3-5k
at the AH.
Then just do some more fame, get some more quests, Questing your scrolls
will save you a bundle in the long run not only that but having all your scrolls shows how
serious you are to your job.
Now about the elementa scrolls, set them up in order in
your macros...jump in a pt as a Nin Thf or something and be a support fighter.
Set up
your elemental scrolls in order in your macros. Fire>Water>Lightning>Earth>Wind>Ice and cast
tehm off........
END RESULT ? BANG!!!
Your Ninjutsu skill grows much faster
than somone who just uses Utsusemi scrolls, thus making your Utsusemi 3-7x more efficiant
and lentghtly than any other person who didnt use this type of method.
Want proof? At
level 19 i was in a 2 Nin/War tanking party. I was wondering why the other ninja was
suffering so much damage seing as though i am used to going for 15-18 seconds withought
taking damage at that level, i then figure out that her ninjutsu skill is a meger 4 while
mine is a whopping 33. Those "not so important scrolls" really came in handy for a
reason eh?
Trust me doing that cast off will save you tons of gil in Utsusemi tools
and not only that will only take you about 2 hrs at level 18 to jump from a shotty level 4
nin skill to a lvl 25 nin skill. Its all worth it in the end.
Remember all scrolls
serve a purpous at one point, you just gotta know what to do with them.
The fine line
between a good player and a great player is that a great player has everything and what he
does not have he is striving for, a good player is just somone that wants to coast through
without having to put all the effort into his job.
My Equipment so far...an i still
need some items btu am working at getting them.
Hand: Busuto
Hand: Suzame
Head:
Cotton Headband
Body: Chain Mail
Legs: Chain Hose
Gloves: Royal Squires
Mufflers
Feet: Ryl. Sqr Sollerets
Neck: Fang Necklace
Belt: Warriors Belt
Back:
Night Cape
Ears: Dodge Earings x2
Rings: Balance Ring x2
Ranged: Juji
Shuriken
Paladins? come on you gotta be kidding me? I rather be lighter and harder to
hit than some pillar.

i got a
question about the ochiudo's kote. is the +20 atk worth the -5 eva (i think thats right) i
was talking to a higher lvl ninja that did not have it and i was wondering if it was worth
the time to hunt it and get them for it or if i should just hold out for my ninja AF gloves.
i really like the kote and was planning on getting it until i talked to this other ninja.
any input would be nice. oh and is the shinobi ring really worth it i dont even notice the
%4 haste and was wondering if it would be better to just get +dex or +eva ring instead

Uchido's
Kote is a nice item to have on you. Yes the -5 evasion is worth it since if you are using
this you probably have a whack load of evasion anyways, the +20 attack makes you a harder
hitter and that not only brings your attack up it keeps hate on you a little more since we
all know that Ninjas mostly tank, not saying its all they do, but its what most do.If you
are going to hunt it, you might want to have some higher level buddys helping u out, i seen
a pt of 3 ppl including a ranger of your level get whiped out, that NM has crap like
Dispelga, which is nasty. the only person that suvived the bit was a level 70+RDM in
complete AF..... I on the other hand will be forking out the 500k on the Unicorn server at
the Jeuno AH..... I know i will die trying to hunt it as soon as i can get it, I'll just
go farm and whipe out some NM's in the process. Have fun and good luck i hope that was a
good enough reason
