Crossbow Dark Knights make me horribly depressed, it is as if every job in the world is doing it's damndest to become a Ranger...

I'm not trying to be a ranger, I'm trying to be a more effective dark knight, and trying to make the parties I'm in more effective at killing mobs. I can do this with acid bolts, bloody bolts, sleep bolts if sleep/sleepII isn't ready and blind bolts, occasionally, if the rdm and nin get resisted, or if I'm pulling and/or virst voke for sata. It's all about being more effective. DRK's that do more for the party they're in are more likely to be remembered and invited into the next party.


I'm not saying don't use a crossbow, marksmanship is brilliant, but by subbing RNG which seems to be the new trend among DRK's at that level...it just seems cheap to me. You're focusing on Ranged attacks more than you are your melee, which is what you're job is meant to do <<

No, at level 10 you get this handy job trait called Accuracy Bonus.

It helps with all types of accuracy!

Hmmm... I would like to see a DRK hit an IT exp mob post level 50 with his x-bow 1/10 times. All that shooting and missing adds more delay to your incredibly long delay scythe/gsword, which probably leads to a pissed of pt because it's taking you 8 mins to get 100% tp. From 1-50 I would probably *try* to keep it capped, but once you start noticing it's missing a whole sh*tload, save it for skillup. The only good thing I see having marksmanship capped for is soloing, not exping.

Well, it's moot issue once you can equip a bomb core. You have to have that in instead of toying around with an E rated skill (I believe that is the rating on DRKs)

Plus many, many equipment that a THF could use that gives +racc and +ratk and DRK cannot use, so I agree with Melosz on this point.

However, in the lower levels, the xbow's effectiveness is much closer to a main RNGs due to the "not so great" skill difference and because of a DRK's high STR rating (same with WARs at these levels) When I leveled WAR in CN at mid 30s, I could do as much dmg as a RNG and dual wield 1hd axe for raging axe. I must imagine DRKs get the same benefit and with SE, raging axe is deadly. Just a thought ...

<< Very true, and FYI I kept my Marksmanship capped, I would suggest you keep these thoughts to yourself unless you can prove what you're saying because starting a fight is really all it looks like you were trying to accomplish.

I do agree that Marksmanship has it's uses and it's place, mostly in solo and ballista. And yes sure, even for TP in a EXP party. But relying on a weapon you have shit skill in, and subbing Ranger in some faint attempt to make yourself into as I stated a ghetto ranger is not right.

I would think that Berserk and the extra stats from Warrior would outweigh what you could do with a xbow only. The Dark Knight is a melee class, we hit the mob with giant weapons and deal high damage << we do not spam bolts for our damage, I'm not saying that it isn't an effective route. Sure it looks good on paper and all, but it still isn't what we were meant to do.

by SJ i would say : till 60 go as war and as 60+ you can go as /thf OR /war both work well

and you said something very true that alot of assholes (drks) forget alot : USE YOUR FUCKING MAGIC DAMNIT.

i just skimmed it but the "guide" then the critic of the guide forgot drk's most important spell, "Stun" jesus people never realize how much grief a good stunner can save a whm and tank <.<

I just want to point out that the Spinning Slash Secondary Attributes are 100% correct. I've seen a lot of people say it's 50% STR and 50% INT (Really Ground Strike), also, if it's 30+30 = 60, where's the other 40%? that's all in Attack. No offense to the person who originally made this guide, but the actual guide itself should have been made by perhaps a more experienced player. This thread should definitely have not gotten a sticky, since it's half a flame thread, and half informative. Not attacking the credibility of the player, but yeah. Even though the promise was made to add to it later, some of the more stand-outish qualities of the job were left out, previously mentioned in other threads.
