Actually I think the Crow legs could be nice in xp ... less enmity, less healing and more importantly less subligars on galka

Well I'll say pretty much the same thing I said at Alla: MNKs aren't BLMs or RNGs, or to a lesser extent, DRKs. We can take hits pretty well, and on most mobs, most levels, the tank can take hate back fast enough that you only need a couple Regens and a Chakra to get you filled back up, with no danger of dying or coming close. So I'd throw on all the damaging equipment I could.

That said, I went to help out a friend camp some break his Dagger of Trials and camp some Shadows (he's become convinced the pop time is 12-24 hours) in Fei'yin. I brought all my Eva gear. I brought my Shihei. But I didn't bring my NIN sub. So a 73 MNK/WAR and a 71 THF/NIN were out there on EP Shadows and while I still pulled hate, the -5 emnity was very noticeable. I was also out there with my locked Destroyers so that certainly had something to do with it. But watching the numbers very quickly add up and watching to mob still stay on my friend- for awhile anyway- did make me think that these would certainly be better than the Master's Sitabaki or Temple Hose I always see people leveling in. So I will say that.

So, wait, you believe in using Monk/Thief as Enmity control but devoting a nearly meaningless slot to a major shot of -Enmity is insensible? You're inconsistent. Let's take one's head slot. At level 50, you have a choice between:

1.) Emperor/Empress Hairpin: 3 DEX, 3 AGI, 10 Evasion, -15 HP >> not doing much for DD
2.) Voyager Sallet: 3 STR, 4 DEX >> excellent... if you can get it
3.) Mercenary Captain's Headgear: 1 STR, 1 DEX >> big deal
4.) Crow/Raven Beret: 4/5 Evasion, -7/8 Enmity

That's a huge reduction in threat in exchange for... two nearly worthless items and one difficult-to-acquire item.

=o never thought about using them as enmity reduction.. that's a pretty good idea.

as long as they look good

The V. Sallet's not that hard to get. The flies are up all the time.

Edit: And an 800 Dragon Kick does more for hate control than a -8 emnity. And it hurts the mob. You're a NIN, you know the best way to get hate is through damage, because even if the total emnity can be equaled in +emnity gear, 'natural' emnity also hurts the mob, which results in faster kills.

Since you've diverted attention from what I was actually saying, I'll assume you're implicitly agreeing with what I said.

Voyager Sallet is difficult to get depending on your server, your LS, and your luck. Every time I went through Riverne with my CoP group, the Dobsonflies were not present, nor were any other NMs. Even then, taking them down is no easy task.

Uni... take it from me, your hand armor is the problem. I'll be shot for saying it, but it's true.

You mean because of the -5 DEX on Pallas's Bracelets?
I only got them last week, and I was using AF gloves befor that, and still had the same results when parsing with meat vs sushi.
Even switchin ing Melee Gaiters in to make that -5DEX into a -1, the problem was still there.

I also switched to Venerer + Sniper's AND life belt.

Seriously, I had:
5 ACC from Wagh Baghnaks?
2 from Tiphia Sting
10 from Optical Hat
5 from GTK Collar
10 From Scorpion Harness
5 From Sniper's Ring
3 from Venerer Ring
10 From Life Belt

For a total of +45 ACC (not counting Wagh because it's unconfirmed) and I still had 55-60% hit rate.
Maybe it was just because I was in Uleblahblah Range, I'll try to parse again on my next KRT party since I don't have to worry about tp gain for skillchains...

But I really should be hitting more than that, specially with focus on and mobs conning Low Eva.

Why does a 60% hit rate magically become gimp after level 50? To my knowledge that's standard fare for any decently equipped melee prior to those levels; why the sudden disgust with it?

Because with Sushi I had 85-90% and was doing an average of 200-300 more damage per fight, and missing half the time is just not cool on the eyes and on the sushi using SC partners.
I had a BST waiting on my TP when I used meat >.>

Path, i've read both your stickies+comments top to bottom, and u da man.

Anyway

I'm... lost. I just hit 70 and i'm usin my AF gloves still. I'm also still a dirty sushi muncher.

I'm wanting to make the transition to meat because i think i'm killing myself by overdoing the acc.
I'm running with a harness (a friends so i can't sell it) and specs+CC's/TM+2's (havent decided yet). Ive got decent gear to pack on the STR and Attack (RSE2 Boots, Rep.Sub, Brown belt, Amemit+1, Coral earring and Minuet Ear.)

I've got a venerer's and sniper's but i can get a 2nd sniper's if i make the transition.
No opti yet. Probably wont happen anytime soon (first job at 70...)

Here's the question.

Should i keep my load out now for when i get Asurans, when i'll need a truckload off Acc? I'm thinking i'll do more DoT if i drop the STR rings for ACC, burn ass for an opti, and start using Attack food. Maybe wait until i get an opti to make the switch?

I'm guessing my new glove choice would go like so:
Sushi - get kotes for attack?
Attack food switch - save for Pallas, maybe ankies (30m and rarely on AH)

Also, i could really use the money from CC's to do some crafting and get some gloves. Are they worth the 6m they sell for on my server end game? I'm guessing once i get :Ni and start doing more /NIN i'm gonna hate that -10EVA.

If i'm being an ass and all this is discussed somewhere else, point me in the right direciton pls.

Honestly, I used Sushi in the 70s quite a lot after it was introduced. It was the first time in a long time that I'd been able to equip my Brown Belt in an XP party and, well, that's damned addicting. My experience has been, too, that it all depends where you are and what you're hunting to dictate what food you should use.

At level 71, when you get Asuran Fists, it's highly likely that you'll still be hunting things with fairly high evasion relative to your accuracy. I'd say that you're probably going to do as well or better with Sushi while fighting IT and IT+ mobs for the next couple levels, at least if your XP parties are anything like mine were. Around 73 or so, you can probably start to transition to meat full-time. The sooner you can get an Optical Hat, the easier that'll be.

As regards gear, definitely go get Ochiudo's Kote. You might consider using Temple Gloves during WS if you really want to, since WS seem to take more from STR than Attack, but Ochiudo's Kote are really going to do better for you. Plus, it matches Scorpion Harness rather well. If it were me, I'd upgrade to a Sniper's Ring, too. 2 added Accuracy isn't really anything spectacular, but I've never been a fan of Venerer Ring except in the gulf between 34 and 40. That's just a personal preference, though. Also, get a friend or three and see if you can't camp Demonic Tiphia, that's a nice addition to a Monk.

Awesome, thanks. The tipia sting i've had and sold recently to get some quick skillup money, but i'm saving up for buyin it back. I just assumed the drop mob was in a CoP area, and i'm still stuck on my last promvy lol.

Demonic Tiphia is way back in the Crawler's Nest, same place you got your Temple Gloves from. No CoP necessary.

You know the scorpions and crawlers back there will aggro 75s. Even better, the crawlers will link the rumbles.

Just a random factoid.
