I think some of you got this confused. Argus will no longer drop Peacock Charm at all. He will drop an item by a different name with the same stats that rare/ex or ex. Therefore, those NMs thats drops will become ex will still be camped by gilsellers. Only those whose main drop becomes rare/ex will not.

I dont know how you guys can make judgements if you dont know which items will become ex or rare/ex.

ya, i've been thinking about this...

so the ones that people currently have or are on the AH will remain the same.

however...

Peacock Charm, Leaping Boots, Emperor's Hairpin, and Archer Rings will NOW either be EX-only or Rare/EX!!!

None of the original non-Rare/EX or non-EX equipment will be dropped from Argus, VE, Leaping Lizzy, and Strope Chime!

Money-wise I would say so. Taking away their chances of earning a large sum of gil relatively fast. But now everyone has a better chance of getting certain items they desperately want. However, the effects this will do to the economy....oh I can't wait to see what happens.

Really, newer players shouldn't have 1mil for a hairpin, or 700k for the boots anyway.
A lvl 15 can kill leaping lizzy, and 35 can kill VE, I think 35's can take out chyme as well. Won't really hurt em at all.


As for whether hairpins will be rarer or not, you don't know, so you don't know if the price will go up or down.


We'll find out about a month after the update if prices are going to drop/stay the same/increase. In the first few days after update there will be either a mass panic to buy all the items, or a mass panic to sell em all.

You just quoted yourself O.o Also, I don't think it makes sense for a Peacock charm duplicate to be Ex only. You can only wear one at a time. Archer's ring duplicates will probably be Ex only, while the rest are Rare/Ex. Makes sense to me

Is this SE's solution to item problems? Just throw it to a BCNM or ENM? I recall the did the same thing with astral rings. The only difference being you got them from coffers.

If SE wants to concentrate on BCNMs so much, they should throw in some Job specific BCNMs, solo BCNMs, or party specific BCNMs (Only doable with a certain party setup, i.e. BLM, WHM, RDM, BRD, PLD, RNG).

I think upping the beastman's seal drop rate wouldn't hurt either

I agree with Aselin, why just those items and why now? It's not like gillsellers can't just pick new targets.

Gillsellers were always tough competion but they weren't unbeatable, rare/exing these items will hurt people of lower lvl that use these NM for money or to equip themselves.

Heh. SE does listen. Numerous amounts of ppl keep complaining about Gilsellers. 1st they ban most of there accounts For-Ev-Er. Now they make the hottest items Rare/Ex. I thank them tremdously. Altho...Theres a price to pay since chances are, No one will get there gil from those items (like that happens anymore since there bots congesting the servers.) Altho there has been some Thoughts...

Archers Ring. The Leathercraft Item that is used to make Snipers Ring. now that this will be R/E...What will happen to the prices of a Snipers RIng? Increase? Possibly Yes. Since only High LeatherCrafters will camp Chyme now.
This issue is also viewed with Leaping Boots. Since Winged Boots can be synthed from it. It may Destroy Gilsellers, but the price to pay...is possibly some High lv crafter jacking the prices. Thus. THe Economy gets f**ked up all over again.
What will happen to the Leaping Boots, E Pin, etc that we all reayd possess? Possibly turns into Rare/Ex

SE did make a wise decision about making Gilseller Target items Rare/Ex. but for every action, there is a possible consequence...

Yes, it's a shame that the days of easy NM camping are over. Not only will gilsellers be having a tougher time making gil, but botters also XD.

Couple things:

I have an Empy Pin and Leaping Boots that I tried for a long time to camp. I finally bought them with gil I had made through crafting and through getting a lucky Monster Signa drop (wasn't even camping the NM). Both of these items of mine will be neither RARE nor EX when I log in tomorrow. I could sell both on AH if I wanted to. There will be a completely new lv7 foot item with DEF: 2, DEX +3, AGI +3 that will drop from a level 10 Hill Lizard in South Gustaberg. Yes, it'll be strange that Leaping Lizzy will soon drop Jumping Boots or something like that, but it's the only way to do it without affecting the mass of people that already have their drops. They could also rename the NM Jumping Lizzy...or keep Leaping Lizzy and name the drop Lizzy Ledelsens or something.

Also, if an item is EX, you can still carry two of them. You just can't trade them or sell them. In this case, the items will be both RARE and EX. RARE will prevent campers from holding multiple drops, true, but the only use of the gear that will be inhibited is the wearing of Archer's Rings. LB, EP, and PC all take up one spot. And really...who uses Archer's Rings anyway?

Personally i think SE has to freaking get it straight allready, sure all people can now have peacock charm , leaping boots and emp hairpin, but how about the people that farmed their ass of to buy this items, i do agree gil sellers suck etc, but this update will also make people like me loose a lot of money, im not a gil buyer, all i got i been working a lot for it, how come everytime SE chooses to make an update i freaking loose mils, my buddy bought a Peacock Charm for 20 mil 3 days ago, know how he most feel now?, im pretty sick all noobs say we all buy gil cause we have good gear, is pretty stupid. camping Nm is not the only way to make gil you know ? there are tons of ways to get enough gil to purchase those items u really need, for instance in unicorn i would def belive a 1 mil price for a emp hairpin is more than reasonable, considering u wear it till level 70 as ninja or thf for example, snipers, sure a bit overpriced but nothing out of reach, when i was drk a long time ago i farmed to get em, i remember getting a hauby was so hard, and i invested a sick amount of time getting it, this update only creates
a waste of time for me, sure we dont know how much price is gonna drop, but def its gonna drop, SE has to update way bigger issues instead of screwing all old school players, for instance set a price to buy dynamis currenbsy would be good, or a way u can get it without having to do dynamis for it, each piece is selling for a high as 30k on unicorn, that makes virtually impossible getting ur relic.

Now dont get me wrong i am aware that people who begin the game are gonna have a smoother leveling up with good gear, but how about the rest of us that allready have this items?
hell the day Se decides to create an ex rare version of speed belt im gonna quit the game, took me a gear getting one, just to see all my time spent went to hell cause SE has pitty for new players? sorry i cant tolerate that.

yeah i know im gonna get flamed, but i do belive old players will feel in a way similar to mine.

I think you need to read the update again. Nowhere does it say the old items will become rare/ex. Most the old items will grow in value. Only the new items will be rare/ex and they may not have the same stats, just similar.
