Hi everybody,
This for all those high level Black Mages. How did you guys manage to raise enough funds to afford all the spells? Farming doesnt seem to be working too well for me considering I'm a mage. Also I'm subbing a White Mage so that adds to the cost. Anybody got any suggestions or ideas from experience on what to do for money? What should I farm? or is there an alternative?

This one's not for the kiddies....
You can always start a prostitution/gambling ring in Windurst Woods. I'd bet you'd get a good price for Nanah Mihngo and Semih Lafina...

Jordache's suggestion is very good..
But dont worry to much. The spells at level 27-34+ are very expensive. After that they become much cheaper. For example, on Diabolos Firaga II costs 4k, while Firaga costs 11k.

I can see why the 25-35 spells are expensive. Just about anyone can level a BLM to 30 in no time at all but after 30 alot of ppl switch jobs. Even up to 35 because those highlevel players need sj's too. After 40 it's only BLM main job competition which is much less people...

Ok, mining is a good idea, but its also very time consuming. I don't expect to get money in a *snap* just like that but isnt there anything simpler? and Jordache, I can see your mood is drunk (LOL) but are you serious?

I'm lvling whm... now I feel bad for you guys at how much spells are costing ><
One suggestion though when you hit a higher level... mining in Ifrite's Cauldron. Dangerous yes, but what you can get out of there is very good from what I'm told ^^ I just gilfarm on anythin that drops money (ie Goblins, Giants, etc).
And for BLMs... I know at higher lv when you're Coffer Key hunting for AF pieces some of the Yagudo/Orc/Quadav you kill actually drop some pretty decent scrolls for lv50+, including some Anchients I've seen. I think I got Waterga III or something off of a Yagudo in Castle Oz a few days ago... can't quite remember, but I sent it and Water III which I bought to a friend who needed them ^^;;

I dunno... I've always farmed Silk Threads in Windy. 12k a stack. Definetly worth the hour or so of hunting.

I can see a few of you have warriors, monks and most importantly thieves. Unfortunately I don't have those jobs. I was hoping to focus on my main Black Mage and my sub White Mage. Therefore, I can see farming for items such as silk would be a lot easier for you. However farming silk for me can take all night till the break of dawn for me just to get 1 stack. Then just picking up items off monsters I killed to sell isnt enough to cover. Such a dilema.. what am I gonna do?

Because at higher levels... you are 1 hitting the Crawlers most likley...
Unless you are going to Like... Rolanberry or Crawlers nest... you will find Silk there more at higher lvls than going around Sarutabaruta...
Or am I completley off on this assumption... let me know :con

No you're right about the lower levels Hiretsukan. You should switch to a melee class and level that up in order to fight the crawlers more easily

Ok thanks guys, I guess the best idea anyone has is to hunt silk at low levels. All of you seem to agree with that so I guess thats what I'm gonna do.

umm farming as a blm is easier than any other class. you train a crap load of enemies and hit em with a -ga spell. all dead. do it all the time, but annoying noobs think im in trouble and steal my train, getting themselves killed...
next time, check me before thinking you are going to be my savior... hahaha
works alot better if you sub thf also, with treasure hunter ability, you get more drops.

Aero II - 15k
Fire II - 19k
Blizzard II - 24k?
Thunder II - 30k
But then the III's drop to under 5k, so just survive to 50 or so and you'll be fine. It's not so much as the demand, since those are NPC prices, so it's moreso the supply. III's must be dropped somewhere, so their prices are lower.

you don't need the II spells... the normal I works just as fine just have to spam more (same dmg/mp ratio)
My friend is level 70 BLM and he never bought a single II spell.. did perfectly fine.. I bought all the II spells

i do quests for scrlls for other jobs (whm teleports blah) and i also harvest wood and mine some. My friends and i get the ingredients for me to craft arrows and stuff (my woodwrking is semi high) so i do those kinds of things, otherwise, i dunno, farming with ga spells in ghelsba and stuff is fun and easy, and you sometimes get good drops from cursemakers and stuff
