Figured I'd make a post about my fight with this guy for the eager pld's ~

89mp, fullhp, and 20 shihei left at the end of the fight...no earring ; ;

Started the fight with and kept up during the fight...

Phalanx, Stoneskin, Protect IV, Shell III, Ice/Shock Spikes, Utsusemi: Ichi, Aquaveil, Barwatera, Enthunder, Haste, and of course, Refresh.

Debuffs were: Bio II, Paralyze, Slowand , Gravity.


I was hitting im for around 40 with the anelace, and around 15 with the beestinger. +15 enthunder for each weapon

I was taking 0+0 or miss/shadow absorbs almost every single time.(he has enwater)

But...when I screwed up and casted utsusemi without haste and stoneskin went down I was hit for 40+0 during the 3 second til cast again :plain

Yes, I know :blush he scares you people without utsusemi/refresh/stoneskin/phalanx now. Good news though is that he has piss poor accuracy...just double attacks a lot.


His only move worth mentioning besides a self buff or slow if you don't have haste, would be Spash Breath. He hit me with it for 80 points...might've had stoneskin up, but not sure.

So ya, he sounds pretty easy for most jobs, right? Just one last thing to mention though...

I did spirits within 450+thunder II 300 at the start and...it barely scratched him This guy fights like an EP to me, but he has HP coming out of his ass! :wall His ass!

If you are in your low 60's and aren't a red mage or ninja with whm/rdm sub I would not suggest solo'ing this. Can probably do it if you bring the right items and sub...but the fight can last so damn long it's hard to tell if you'd die or not.

I think I would've died fighting the bastard if I didn't have refresh. So have somebody who can rest and cure with you

Edit: Saying that^ because the fight took much much longer than most fights with dc/em/t and I was swinging a hell of a lot more than usual. I was able to kill the EP pugs around his pop points in a minute or less with the set up I used but half an hour for him!

1 wind crystal + 1 moat carp gets two slices. Also sold as fishing bait for around 1k a stack.

by chance of spawning you mean its not 100% chance of spawn when you trade the sliced carp? if not 100% pop is it a high chance of pop or really low?

earring does +5% cure potentcy lvl 55 PLD

As far as I can tell it seems guaranteed to pop in one of the 6 points. If it's not guaranteed it seems like it has a high chance.

There is a hidden effect on earring to. Sometimes it adds +10%.

question: if the NM doesnt pop at 4:00, the carp is still there, can it catch him later that day?

The carp is taken out after you examine the trap.(which happens to be how you pop it) Shouldn't really matter though...stacks of sliced moat carp sell for practically nothing and you get 6 trys per real life hour.

ya i buy mine at fishing guild, cheaper than AH on leviathan, im now 2/3 on the drops. i'm semi rich agan! woo!
no one else was campin it so i decided to stay a few more rounds and help my friend get hers^^
