Your NPC And You (guide to everything about your NPC)

Ok well for the TP attacker style thing...

-I think there's a TP % where they'll wait for you and where they won't. I belive that when you're +50% but below 100% they'll wait for you. Whereas I believe if I have below 50%, the NPC will just use a WS.

- Being a Samurai, I gain TP quite fast. If both you and your NPC are around 100%, it'll usually go first. On the other hand, I think that after a certain point it will wait for you again. I'm not sure if this 150% or 200%, but I have waited for a bit for my NPC to get enough TP and then it wouldn't use it's WS or tell me it was ready. Then I would use my WS and my NPC go right after me and close an SC.

And generally for me my NPC tends to level every other time I call her. She's currently level 35.

Holy crap! Not only do the NPCs have A+ skill, they don't even have to skill it up... My NPC dinged 49 just now, and 2 battles later she used tachi: jinpuu.. which sam learns at 49. Crazy stuff. I still don't have the 3rd weapon upgrade cutscene.. bought a nodachi for nothing ;;

I just posted in the NPC weapon upgrades sticky, but I realized it might be better placed here.

So far I have seen two obvious job traits on my 39 galka attacker with second lvl scythe: provoke and double attack. *However*, today he countered a gigas' attack. So is he a scythe-wielding monk?! Has anyone else noticed any other job-specific traits?

Also, the OP mentioned that his NPC has only used ribbons, but when I asked my galka to change his headgear today, he put on an Iron Mask. Anyone else seen any other head gear options? Do tanks put on helmets?

  • That had to hurt. I felt it too.

I think 1h sword is wrong. I started by trading a xiphos, then a bronze sword. Gonna try a spatha later.

Sweet Guide.

Here's some info I'd like to throw in.

It is possible to level your NPC if your level is under 30. Mine leveled it's first time to 31 while I was at 27 in Qufim. It's like taking in a level 32 job into a Promyvion area by yourself. If you kill a Wanderer that's not Too Weak, you still get some experience. I can also back up on NPC having a A+ skill in weapons, (Atleast in Attacker mode) Because When mine got to 33, it began spamming Nightmare Scythe.

I think another NPC guide/journal giving some pretty good infomation was at a LS website called Koolaid. The person had a Attacker Galka and displayed pictures on how it changes appearence. And at one point, it was wearing WAR AF.

While the Shield version of the NPC has Provoke, the agro from it appears super low. The other night, I was out with my NPC, and by the second melee hit I had agro for the rest of the fight. The only time I had any trouble holding hate was when the NPC used a weaponskill at the start of the fight. In fact, the weaponskill by itself seemed to do a better job of generating hate than Provoke did.

Level 30 NPC, fighting mobs in Battalia Downs. I was on my 62 WHM. Admittedly I was 32 levels higher, but WHM don't hit all that hard, and I had my full AF on (which has -Enmity on it), so I would have expected the NPC's provoke to actually last for a few swings.

I had been having trouble when trying to duo with my level 31 BLM job, and now I think I have a pretty good idea why. When you factor in that you have to pull (the NPC can't do it for you), coupled with the uselessness of the NPC's Provoke ability, you're pretty much guaranteed to take some hits. And that's a bad thing on a BLM.

In the above SS, the NPC says, "There should not have been a dragon in Ghelsba." Is this message given after a certain level? My NPC is lvl 43 attacker, but he still only gives the 2 different chat lines of "You remember that little girl in Eldieme?" and "About that dragon we fought in Ghelsba?" Does it change when you cap at 50?

each race has a different way of saying the same thing, the dragon lines are the same.

Unfortunately not, as my NPC is Galka as well. ^^;; It could be that it is based on model type (I have different Galka than the pic posted above), but I highly doubt that, as it would require waaaay more effort on the part of SE to write like 60-70 different possible lines (2x ~30?). The only difference I can tell between my Galka NPC and the one in the above SS is that mine is 45 and his is 50 (and his might have 3rd lvl weapon upgrade; mine only has 2nd).

I kind of have to think that the Screen of the Galka in Warrior AF is fake . . . because the guy has
1337 HP in the picture.:con

Qbertian, firstly theres only been 2 weapon upgrades released so far (pre october update). And I highly doubt that level affects the message given since as of my knowledge there are only 2 comments (something with the dragon and something with the girl) which havent been reported to change with leveling (got a few people with lvl 50 npc on my server). It might be, but I doubt that. I dont doubt se would make 70 lines, but since your comment seems to sound the same as mine, maybe they give each character of a race different lines. (model type isnt the basis i dont think, but more likely the name of the character you choose).

Your NPC levels after you kill a mob. It doesn't level when you're running around. What you experienced was called lag. NPC's lag when they level.

i wanted to comment on this. yes and players do to an extent. thier hp will be fully restored instanly like a pc would. mp too i guess but mine is attacker since i was able to pick it.

WEAPON UPGRADES
Cesti> Bronze Knucks> Brass Knucks.
Bronze Dagger> Brass Dagger> Dagger
Bronze Sword> Spatha> Bee Spatha.
Claymore> 2hnd Sword> Falx
Butterfly Axe> Great Axe> Heavy Axe.
Bronze Zahgnal> Brass Zahgnal> Scythe
Harpoon> Bronze Spear> Brass Spear
Kunai> Wakashi> Shinobi-gatana
Ugchigatana> Tachi> Nodachi
Bronze Hammer> Brass Hammer> Warhammer
Ash Staff> Holly Staff> Elm Staff

Ugchigatana: Lv.12
Tachi: Lv.8
Nodachi: Lv.16

Isn't there any problem? Luto ask me to upgrade the GKT. But I don't see why she would ask for a Lv.8 GKT when my NPC already has a Lv.12 GKT...?

This has been discussed repeatedly -.-. Some of the upgrades are infact downgrades. There has been no noticible difference in change whether the weapon is upgraded or downgraded (i.e. both trades although on different weapons, still seem to increase the npc's damage)

Just a few idea. Since SE announced they will add some mod. for the NPC, and a Genkai 1, I was wondering what they could do...?

Add TNL of the NPC. And also, how many EXP does s/he win per fight.
Add HP / MP / TP on your screen. Or at least make something similar as etc. like BST's command.
Be able to change Gears and Weapons like a regular player. So far, NPC change his/her gear without any different of DEF / STR / etc.
Change some areas like Lufaise where you should be able to call your NPC.

So far, Im leveling my NPC as WHM, so Im leveling Shield Skill, and every Magic Skill by the way.

Ah, and how far you think NPC will be able to level up? Lv.75? In this case, NPC will requires something like a 3 players PT, because I doubt I'll be able to solo any Weapons as MNK or WHM...

I believe that even though the GKT is a downgrade, the NPC still does more damage. This probably holds for the other weapons too, and the armors. As for them hitting 75, while this is a long ways off (if they choose to do genkais in singles), the only outdoors areas that are worthy of hitting 75 at are Terrigan, Ru Aun, and Lufaise, I would think... and mnk can solo DC-T pots in Ru Aun.
