Hello Sugami,
The option I use is to output from Premiere into a non-encoded video file that is very large. I then use the Windows Media Encoder to encode the video into a smaller file size. You can find the Windows Media Encoder at link.
The other option is to install a video codec link DiVX and select the Codec you want to use when you export the movie from Premier.
I hope this helps.

Looks like the default is set to DivX 6.2.5, other options are ffdshow video codec, Windows Media 9, x264 - H264/AVC encoder, XviD MPEG4 and none.
I can't get Media Encoder from there, my copy of windows isn't quite legit x_x;;
The video I made is 48 seconds long and 170MB in size
it looks like it used some form of compression too =/

Ok, in Premeire, go to the export command. Select Settings, then select the codec you want.
As an example:
1. Open project
2. Click on [File], [Export]
3. Click on [Settings]
4. Click on the [Video] menu
5. Under Compressor, select "DivX 6.2.5"
6. Click on the [Configure...] button
7. Click on the little calculator button in the lower right
8. Type in the duration of the video
9. Type in the Filesize that you want. It will generate a video bitrate. Click on Accept.
10. Export the video. See how it looks, and if you want to increase the size or decrease the size.

I thought something was wrong... when I create a project it shows all the different codec but in the export settings there's only DV (PAL or NTSL) :x is this because I'm using the Tryout version or something else? o_O;;

Your project may be set up incorrectly. When you setup your project initially you need to set it up to use "Video for Windows". Also, make sure to select Square Pixels (1.0) for the aspect ratio.
I am not sure what the differences are for a Tryout version.

Doh! Just figured out why it wasn't showing the codecs; it was set on "Microsoft DV AVI" instead of "Microsoft AVI" ... 20MB for 50secs but the quality is really poor and jumpy :x
Ugh I tried Windows Media 9 codec or whatever and it's 17MB and smoother until the end where it gets jumpy and the quality is a bit bitty, also the file doesn't start properly :/ have to click on the slider for it to get going to put it back to the start.
Trying to compress with XviD codec crashes the program

Hm.. this may be a bit off topic from the tech questions but.. since the links don't exactly work anymore, is there anyplace I can still find Kimera's videos? I'm curious to see what he's made.

Edit: I've had it with Adobe Crapiere screwing everything up, I looked into Song Vegas and it works like a dream and compresses properly to boot.

I have some problems with recording on fraps. The first time that I used it, the movies went very smoothly at a resolution of 1280 x 1024. I was just testing fraps back then. I even had winamp in the background playing music and still no problems.
But after a week when i wanted to try recording again for serious. My game kept on lagging hard and got crappy movies as a result. RAM isn't the problem because I got 3,25GB off it. I also use an external hard drive to save my movies onto.
I've tried chaging game resolution to 1024 x 768 and even the crappy 800 x 600. But I still get the same problems.
Can anyone help me with this?
PS: sometimes it starts recording well but it then gets worse after a couple of secs of recording.

Okay, I have a question for anyone that can answer it. I am using Windows Movie Maker and I have 2 videos I want to combine in a Split Screen type of video. 1 Video on the left and one on the right or top & bottom, whichever. I was wondering if this possible with Movie Maker and if so, HOW? lol I've been fustrated with this program for so long now >.<. Please reply quickly. Thank you!

Fraps records in a non-compressed format. To compress it to a smaller size you will need to use a program such as the Windows Media Encoder (found on Microsoft's website), 3vix, or Divx.

I have a question, why, after compression through priemere or windows movie maker, are my videos uber dark? I mean it's horrible.
