I got a 2175 on high and 4007 on low but the video's fps skipped a lot. They both looked the same.
I have an
P4 3.06
996 RAM
GeForce FX 5200 128mb ( PCI )
Is the card whats holding me down? I got it 3 years ago. Im thinking of getting a 6600 PCI - Express. That good enough or should i invest more into the 6800??

hehe, my laptop freezes when it tries to load the InstallShield. >.>
I think thats an automatic "No," right?
I'm guessting it goes like this.
Cannot install benchmark - 000: "1WAR Galka Mule" PC
Unfortunately, we assume that your computer sucks and cannot meet the requirements to run FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows. Get a new computer.

Standard Dell XPS system(no flames please)
6963 Low Res (almost Impossible to gauge)
5083 High Res (Incredibly tough +)
On both versions the Promathia trailer played flawlessly.

System specs:
2.4 ghz processor-Intel P4
512 mb ram
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 32 mb
Score: 3161 (Very Tough) on low
Score: 1787 (Decent Challenge) on high
Im still gonna buy it anyways. Played a friend's copy. Loved the game. Im a Final Fantasy freak anyways.
Ran Promathia trailer flawlessly both times. Only difference is the leaves changed resolution from low to high. High ran farely smooth. I can tweak my unit to run even faster. This isnt a fantastic score, but its pretty good.
Oh....did I mention Im on a laptop?
Dell Inspiron 5100 (with upgrades and new driver). Dell can take on some pretty heavy stuff if you know what to do with it.

what's a good video card for around $100? I'm downloading the benchmark test right now but i'm sure I won't get a good score. On a basic dell and have a DELL E551 on 16MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra.. I don't know shit about computers but i'm pretty sure it sucks.. One more question, is the video chip hard to install or should I let someone else do it?

My old computer got a score of -1.
I kid you not, The Northbridge was incompatible, so it crashed everytime I ran the test, and the resulting score was -1.
The computer I ran it on was a stock Compaq Presario, the Chipset was an Intel.
The requirements for FFXI state either ATI or Nvidia chipsets.
I guess I'll be on my PS2 until I can get my AMD X2 machine.

For $100? I couldnt tell you that. But Im trying to find a replacement for a 32 mb Rage 128 myself. Oh, dont bother trying to run the program, it doesnt run on a Rage. As for replacing the card, I know how to replace a dell laptops, but not a pc. sorry. But it shouldnt be too hard. PCs are made to be upgraded. I just dont know to what extent mine or yours can be upgraded to. The most importatn thing first of all is to make sure you processor and RAM are more than high enough. 512 is a standard min nowadays and i recommend more for FFXI especially if you have a standard graphics card. (9000 or geforce mx4). Google a search for upgrades and then try Dell's forums. They're usually pretty good with stuff like that.

Good card, not excellent, top of the top, etc is a Geforce 4200 around 100 bucks at any Best Buy-
the thing you need to worry about is more about RAM- a crappy video card is something, but if you have just an ok one like I do (cuz I'm a cheap ass) and quite a bit of RAM, you can get flawless video even at a very high resolution.
I found my 4200 (needed a DirectX compatible card ASAP and as cheap as possible) at Best Buy on sale about 3 months ago for around 92 bucks. Works very very very nice

6319 High Res, didn't bother with Low Res.
AMD 64 3200+ (Yeah...gotta upgrade this
( )
1gig DDR PC-3200 OCZ Gold Edition, Dual Channel
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum Edition
ATI Sapphire x800Pro Softmodded to x850xt.
If you own the same video card I do and want to softmod it, I'll be glad to help. This is the guide I used.
http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=312063&pp=30
And Katoke, I notice you said you have 1.5gigs of RAM. Not a pretty number for RAM IMO. I suggest getting 2 identical sticks and placing them in your motherboard so that their Dual Channel feature activates. You'll get a huge jump in performance from that.

Just ran this for fun on my new PC, and on High-Res I scored 8650! I'm about to try Low-Res, but god damn what a score!
Specifications
Motherboard: eVGA 680i w/P25 Bios
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.0GHz (FSB 1333)
RAM: Corsair XMS2x1024-6400 (2GB)
Graphics: 1x eVGA 8800 GTS 640MB (ForceWare 97.92)
Going to try Low-Res now.
Edit: Low-Res Score = 10750. I was hoping for 11,000 but damn, still nice.
Update: New Graphics Drivers 101.02 gave me a new High-Res score of 8822! My god...
Update2: Messed with Graphics card's Core Clock (630)/Memory Clocks(1000x2) using ATiTool 0.27, and I got a new Hi-Res score of 9182! Sweet; I broke 9k!!
