I am getting tired of seeing a new thread every week, so I am gonna make this thread and stucky it.

The compass is all speculation as to if it works. Point yourself in the right direction for the crystal to get Less failures, and also less skill ups. Or in the opposite direction for the crystal for More skill ups, but also more failures, with a chance of HQ'ing more often.

There is no research done on the compass with magic casting, but has been specualted to help. But if it only takes an extra few seconds to get in the right direction, every little bit of help helps. Below are a few variations of hte compass, but with the same information:

For reference Simkin, that middle image (that I posted in another thread) is on a temporary image host, and is likely to vanish after a short while.

I'm also not personally certain that any of these are true, and the observant will notice that all three of the above differ in parts.

Actually the 1st and the 3rd image are the same, only the middle image is different.
Basically the image says:
Crystal
Dark: HQ-NE; Success -N
Light: HQ-N; Success-NE
Fire: HQ-W; Sucess-NW
Earth: HQ-SE; Success-S
Water: HQ-SW; Sucess-W
Wind: HQ-E; Success-SE
Ice: HQ-NW; Success-E
Lightning: HQ-S; Success-SW

hey boss, if you're going to sticky stuff you don't know anything about, could be so kind as to post an copy of the karma sutra?

fyi the middle image is a worthless piece of s**t, the 1st and 3rd are basicaly the same thing, though the 3rd is much less likely to confuse the newer crafters who barely know what crystal to use, let alone the finer points and techniques. You could've done a much better service and saved space simply by asking neomorpheus... his post is much simpler and frankly, it's just as good if not better than tossing every piece of c--p image you find on the net into a post and shouting 'look at me, KIstaff > you, so pay attention i wana spam'

also fyi, there's more to crafting than throwing junk in a crystal... many people have parsed many hundreds of synths to determine exactly what does and doesn't effect results... direction is one of those long know and proven facts of crafting... so just cause u leveled cooking to 10 don't come here posing as someone who knows something... if you'd like to know why not ask instead of saying that 'you're too important to be bothered with repeat questions'

Provide this research before barking this at me. As from as most of every 100 crafter I know, it is just speculation. I did my research before posting this thread. And I edited out hte middle pic. I just saw it in the last thread, and just added it. I didnt look at it.

I would have to agree that it is just speculation, though I still spend the 2 seconds to get in teh right direction.

ok everyone has the right to their own opinion, and craft however they choose

that being said, if someone hasn't sat down, and parsed a statisticaly significant amount of results to check the stats themselves to see if in fact they have a higher percentage one way or the other, or whether it's all just random... they shouldn't be comming up and saying that other people are wrong even when they've taken the time to run their own tests to find out what will give the best results and hence the best profit

just look at the other sub games in ffxi... there's more to fishign than getting a pole and bait and casting your line (location, moon, ect.).... there's more to logging/mining than simply using an axe/pick, and growing things in mog house pots is much more detailed than tossing s--t in a pot and comming back in a few days to collect ore (see Piko's Pots... very nice site)... and yet there still seems to be people who come here saying that there's nothing more to crafting than tossing ingredients in a crystal and hoping u get lucky? if there's nothing more to crafting than powerleveling dat shyte to make mad cash, then why bother reading the forums... just go blow your wad and level up

look, like i said, to each his/her own... craft however u like... but if you're (look'n at u sim) gonna come up and say it's all a random, at least take the time to check the statistics yourself and see rather than just saying...
'oh well it's too complicated and i don't have the time to understand how it works, so i'll call it b.s.'

I've parsed plenty of crafting sessions. Direction has zero effect. The compass is voodoo nonsense.

just because you have the lvl to provide the gil to power level your craft to 99, doesn't mean you know what your doing, all it proves is that you have the gil to fund it... with enough gil and time you can't help but level your craft... whether u loose little or just plow through loosing a shyte load is where u can see how well the person knows what he's doing or not
