Well im new to the board, so im careful not to step on anyones toes. Instead of making a few topics, i'll just make one big one. Any help is appreciated

--Harvesting
For everytime you try to havest, do you lose the sickle? Like, Will i need to buy more than one sickle?

About how much do Sickles cost? Are they worth it (im a clothcrafter).

Are theyre ways to synthesize them? If so, whats the recipe and level needed

--Gardening
I know Its possible to grow crystals. What are some good formulas to grow earth, and wind crystals?

What are the best money making forumlas for gardening

I heard about tree cuttings, but not really enough to understand. Where can i get them from (I know there 3k at AH) cheaper, and what do they yield that are suppose to make you alot of money?

--Clothcraft
All ive been doing lately is farming yagudo for Wind Crys, and Necklaces. Ive had great success in money, and still am....4 yagudo neck's + 4 wind crystals = 12 threads of grass which sell in bastok for abotu 1500 on my server. Not bad...

And it was great, cuz i was leveling up my clothcrafting level. However, now i realize my leveling is halted...

My level is only 3 and a half (about). And im wondering...what are some ways to make some good dough (around the same of seling grass...wait...that sounded wrong ^^wink.gif and still leveling?

I know taking threads and converting it to cloth is fine, but the stack of cloth only sells for abotu 3k...which is a big drop in money

Again, anyhelp will be appreciated. Im sorry that i made one big thread, but i thought it would be best instead of making 3...

Harvesting: If its anything like mining you dont loose your sickle everytime, but you can break them so always carry more than one. For cloth craft just go out and kill yagudo for their necklaces and with one wind you get three grass threads. (you should be able to figure out the rest). You can make them and they're smithing skill(probably with wood working sub)
Gardening: Alright...earth crystals? Do you jest? Why would you want to harvest those, they're the easiest to come by. Just go get signet and kill stuff. Same goes for wind too. The moeny is in dark and light crystals. I think to make dark crystals you need to start on dark day and feed it light crystals. But dont trust me on this. That LS conversation was a while back.
As for leveling cloth craft...it aint gonna go anywhere with ust making thread all the dang time. Try other recipes...you do see the section to your left that says Crafting Recipies right?

No, I dont kid. The reason is...The drop rate for crystals and Items for me is weird. I dont know if its the same for everyone, but I can spend days fighting decents, and get maybe...a few crystals? I dont know why, i have very bad luck with crystals. Infact, thats why I dont do alot of crafting, because Im usually very short on cyrstals, even though i go out and hunt for them...

Well the reason why i asked about the clothcrafting (and you just restated what i said in my post happy.gif...but its all good) is because im just making grass, and its bringing me quite alot of cash. Its probally about 40% of my income coming in (cuz i cant keep alot of items, alot of furniture in my house, and still no expansion quests). So yea, i do know if i were to go further with synthesis I could level up more, but alot of the products really dont sell that well for all the items im using...hence the question. So if I keep leveling up my clothcraft, will i be able to maintain the same amount of cash (1.5k per 12 grass) that im doing now, or make more..etc...

Mmmm...doublets are going for about 1.8k last time I was on my server. With newbies coming on soon that stuff will go fast. I'd say that you'll be able to get more cash once you get to working more with cotton which is easy to get in the canyon if you have a 15 thf sub.

Let me just bump this up there, and ask a question

At level 4, what should a weaver be making? Headgear goes for like 300 gil in bastok, 100 gil in windurst...thats not cost effect, and they arent selling...

Gloves arent selling for much either, and gaiters keep failing...

So what should i be making to raise my level?

lvl four you need to be making brais, gaiters and doublets... easy recipes and at your lvl your crys will be able to handle it and not break. each of those items go for around 700-1.6K at AH... look up the recipes cuz i don't remember them right now. i'm a lvl 4 er 5 clothcraft... i will tell you this though... there is some damn good money in fishing!

it takes a while to get all the gear together and to get a composite rod... butyou'll be tearing up the AH with stacks of moat carp taht go for 4k! and if you're looking to raise windurst fame, fish at the guild witha sabiki lure to catch sardines, which you can trade to red headed girl tarutaru on the docks for 70 gil each tongue.gif

good luck, and give me an LS tongue.gif

Doublets! Make lots and lots of doublets! Plus I wouldn't really be thinking about money making on the first level of many crafts, its more about raising skill so you can get to the good stuff like cotton and linen. Brais are good for raising skill to. All I know is that one time I kept trying to make gaiters and failed because I was using grass thread when I should have been using coton, needless to say my skill suddenly rose .3 when I made em.

In terms of gardening:

http://ffxi.game-host.org/eriwilde/ffxi/index.html#

Click on the production link on hte left side and then go to gardening. That should get you started. ^^ Remember, what you get is always up in the air. It's never "sure" but you can aim for certain things...

When you move up to trea cuttings, the stuff you can grow starts to get insane. For instance, you can grow gold beastcoins from tree cuttings (but then again, it takes a /lot/ longer to get to harvest time so you could have grown a lot of smaller things in that time...).

You can farm tree cuttings from Gobbues in places like Pashow, but the drop is quite rare from what i understand.

Brass Flower Pot + Grain seed + Ice Crystal = Wind Crystal or Kukuru Bean

I think if you "examine" the pots LESS you get crystals. I got 20 pots growing currently these I haven't checked once so I will let you know.

Tree Cuttings:

I was able to grow light crystals by planding and feeding dark crystals (and harvesting) on darkday.

I got 5 platinum nuggets by totally messing up (I planted on full moon lightday, fed light crystal on light day, then messed up and fed light crystal on full moon but the day before light day and gave up and harvested on darksday)... not bad if someone ever buys them (they go for 4k each but dont seem to sell a lot).

I have a new plan and will let you know if it works!

I'm a clothcrafter too. If your looking to make a Brais just go out and fight a goblin and hope it drops a Gob Mask, then strip it with a wind crystals to get the sheep leather. And the other stuff for it u can make. Try a strong day for the crystal (Earth) i think. I've barely broke any crystals. And as a last resort go to Cloth Guild in Windurst Woods I think and get some "help" and try to make something with the crystals strong day. Shouldn't fail then. I've been pretty successful even without the extra help. I've had trouble with cotton stuff. I've had a crystal break on me on Lightningday sad.gif. Damn the cotton.

as far as gardening. I've been keeping track of my outcomes. Only thing is for the first few without pot and days, at the time I didn't know that that played a factor. But as u can tell I later grasp'd the concept. I haven't been keeping track of Moons and whatnot so if that plays a factor I'll try keeping track of that next time.
but follow the link to see my gardening.

My Gardening Recipes

I'm too poor to buy Tree cuttings ATM. So I guess you can always go fight a Goobbue.

Here is a Tree Cutting Recipe I stumbled across on gamefaqs site.

Hope this helps.
