Ok, everyone reading get ready for an idea that might give you a new thought. A lot of people are saying the new weapon is a saber, some saying it's a whip. But I'm going to tell you of a new idea. Instead of 'a' weapon, Blue mage could use ALL weapons. Let me explain:
Let's say Blue was given 'forms' and with the forms the Blue mage could transform the weapon the form possesses. So you could have an axe form and you wield an axe. Notice in the videos of the new job he has no weapon....hmm. Now you're probably asking Well how will combat skill work? Well let's say all the forms = 1 combat skill, and that the form won't represent a specific weapon's skill. That way the blue mage could use any weapon and get the same combat skill leveled up.
With this said, I'd like to hear even more ideas about what I just told you, and please save the smart remarks to yourself, unlesss of course you wanna crush your reputation.

I suppose anything is possible, but for the sake of consistency with all other jobs I think they will just give the BLU combat skills like everyone else. Has SE said that there will be a new weapon type? This is the first I've heard of it.

SE has not shown us what weapon they'll use. In the video of the new expansion, it showed the Blue mages but with no weapons. This could mean it's a surprise or they just don't want us to make fun of the weapon choice (lame or dumb). Whips would be cool, although I really like this form idea. SE won't do what I've told yall, mainly because they get dumber and dumber everyday (it's true).

P.S. Thanks for responding, it took everyone a while to even look at my post lol

Blue mages have always used Scimitars, <.< I don't remember whips, Tamers in FFV used Whips.

Quistis from FF8 used bluemagic as her limit break, so in a way she was a blue mage.. and she used a wip.. but FF8 was notorious fro breaking the mold on things..

Quina from FF9 used a Fork, nothing like a saber.

[red]Sorry. No Blue Mages on the boats. Looked it over. 1st pic is Too Foggy to make out anything, and there are no dark figures on the boat.
Second one, only one visable is Captain.

The Taru and Hume do not have a weapon by their sides.[/red]

that one char on FF9 had to wait till the enemy had low HP before he/she could get a skill...think they'll makes some hard ass task to get en ability..?

OMG... SE might make them quest the abilities.. I can see it now

"Ahh! Shdwtrev, word has it you can master skills the monsters in the outworld can use. They say there is an ancent goblin that lives in the deep jungles of Kazham that teaches these ablities.. maybe you should seek him out!"

GAH WTF ;_;
