I want a general idea of fucking ridiculous this new job will be. I don't plan on touching it with a ten foot pole. That goes for inviting one to my party too. Unless they make a good BST duo partner. When I go to form a party a month after it comes out... and I do /sea all inv 50-54... am I going to see 900 BUM/RDM LFG?
Basically, that's what I'm trying to gather from my poll. Get it worked out exactly how much I'm going to be annoyed with people and this new job (which doesn't even sound that good).
Are you leveling BUM to 75?

Any job within the category "Mage", i'm taking it to 75... or cap (incase SE decided to raise the cap)

Maybe not to 75, but at least to 37 to see if it's a decent sub

i remember when CoP came out, and everyone got all pissed cuz blue mage and 2 new avatars werent included in the expansion
ever since day1, i stuck by my conviction that bst is this FF's blue mage, and im not gonna change my mind until i see it in game, or SE officially admits to it
i also think its freakin hilarious that ppl are hating a job that more than likely doesnt even exist
and also, my other point: at 1 time, sam, nin, and drg were new jobs also, and you didnt see 800 ppl trying to take those jobs to 75 all at once

Tanaka Hiro, Produce of FFXI, has stated in an interview which was recorded on 2005/09/20 21:03 at the Tokyo Game Show;
Tanaka Hiro:
In addition, as for new job if that (pointing to the promotion movie which to the booth is) you see, you think that you understand, but, the "blue demon Taoist" enters.
In addition, as for new job if that (pointing to the promotion movie which to the booth is) you see, you think that you understand, but, the "blue demon Taoist" enters.
Bear in mind that it is a Japanese Interview which is translated with babelfish, but you can understand the main meaning of the sentence. He says something along the lines of;
In addition, as for any new jobs in the expansion (points at the promotion movie in a nearby game booth) which you might see, I think that you understand and realize that the "Blue Demon Taoist" enters.
Anyone who has any knowledge of FFXI's translation of current jobs would know that "Blue Demon Taoist" means Blue Mage.
Red Demon Taoist = Red Mage
White Demon Taoist = White Mage
Black Demon Taoist = Black Mage.
It's a Blue Mage.
It's being released in the expansion.
and BST is NOT the BLU of FFXI.
I think what Tanaka Hiro says is as official as it gets. k?

Keep in mind that they could also release other jobs in the expansion pack, too.

bottom line, they wanted to put somethign out there get distract people from their unwillingness to deal with real problems (rmt, worthless gm's)
so they figured...
"hey lets drop a job even worse than drg! that way the drg's will feel better about no longer being the least invited job, and those ass hats will be so busy tryign to find a use for it, they'll forget that we're selling gil ourselves and onry permitting rmt's that we controll! "

Wait, no. Maybe... they just want to expand their game? Nah, Square-Enix's just a company that can't think of new names for their video games so they call them all "Final Fantasy" and slap on some random roman numeral on it.
so they figured...
"hey lets drop a job even worse than drg!

How annoyingly original from the refresh whore.
that way the drg's will feel better about no longer being the least invited job,
Oh! You mean those Dragoons. Yeah, yeah, the ones who sit around for hours LFG and never ever think of making one themselves.

SE are forced to create this kind of job because of the demand of players and it would enable people to continue to play FFXI even longer = more money for them.
I, for one, am willing to attempt to take it all the way to 75 to see the power of Blue Mage. However, I have a bad feeling that it will be not as useful because SE already had every jobs (well, nearly) balanced. To add new jobs would be to change everything so... Blue Mage can be totally useless, but then it may not. The only way we'll know for sure if Blue Mage is useful or not is to take it all the way to 75 and learn every aspect of the job itself.

It's going to be a BST duo partner. It will have no use in a party.
Wow you're quick. Did you think the people who didn't like the job were just calling it that by coincidence? LOL

i probably won't level it to 75 but i will level it to 37, unless on the way to 37 i find it really useful than i'll keep going.
i'll probably end up doing a static PT with my friend who will level it to 75.

People who call this job "BUM" need to be stabbed in the face.
And to stay on topic: I'll try it to 37, like all the others, then see if it's worth taking to 75. My money is on no, though.
