actually it doesn take long to level if you get good parties and party with like the same people everyday...they dont have to be a stactic party...i mean just with the same people everyday or atleast 1 or 2 of the same person's everyday...thats what i do but it doesnt happen (everyday)...since i'v been doing all my AF quests...i need the Monk body from Beaduax coffer and Monk pants from that EVIL Yagudo in Castle Oz. for the Monk AF3 fight...which i probably wont be getting anytime soon...i just want my Monk body the most..i got everything else...gloves,crown,boots ect...i love the gloves for the boost...i macro them in for boost then i macro in my O.kotes and then i WS...i notice atleast 50-75 more points on my WS's if all hits land....and anyways if you make a party when theres the right jobs looking then thats 0 waitime...maybe waitime for building the party up but if all the jobs you need are looking and the people join then its wayyyy less waitime then as if you waited because i used to wait like up to 5 hours for a party with Monk and i couldnt deal with that...i had stuff that i wanted to do then just sit in Jeuno for 4-5 hours waiting for a party...anyways sorry for the ranbleing...i'm bored hehe. ; ;

Welp, since the subject had come up I figured I should actually seek a PT and make a real effort to get some XP on my MNK.

I lucked out and pretty quickly after seeking got a tell from a BRD asking if I wanted to PT. When I saw he was a BRD I was like... wtf, you're a BRD of course I want to PT.

2 hours and 12000+ XP later, I dinged 59. Whee.

And since no screenshot in one of these "show your XYZ job" threads is complete without random images of gear inventories, I included some crap I have in storage, to sort of highlight why I decided maybe I should stop screwing around and actually level the damn thing. Of course, there's also a lot of random war/rng/nin/who knows why I own it gear mixed in as well, but that's mostly a result of my being too lazy to limit the scope of the screenshots to MNK only.

lol, that's really not all that much... I just recently paid for byrnie and cursed kabuto+haidate -.-;;

It's easy to make at 75 though, I get most of my money through ENMs. 5 of us have a static for Ul. Range, Attowha Chasm, and the 3 Promyvions weekly.

In the past few weeks alone we've gotten:

3x martial anelace
3x hedgehog bomb
1x scouter's rope
2x galateia
2x eltoro leather
1x wind earring

etc.

Adds up in a hurry when it's just a 4-5 person split, depending on how many show up. (And when you have multiple 75 BLMs, all you really need is them+one tank to do any ENM easily... 2-3 Thunder 4s and Blizzard 4s on a fully merited BLM makes quick work of anything, moreso if obis+af2+weather or day of the week come into play)

When I first got FFXI, I was an Elvaan. I levelled every basic job in the game to 15 on the hills outside of Bastok in the two Gustabergs. I sold every crystal, wild onion, gob gear, beehive chip, etc. that dropped. I also saw Leaping Lizzy once while going to Dangruf Wadi for a Quest or Mission, somehow got the claim, and she dropped. I didn't much like parties back then either, so I soloed my RDM to 22 or 23 in Konschat and Valkurm, adding lizard skins to the list of items I sold. After that, I decided I didn't really like being Elvaan. I usually play an elf in every "rpg" I latch onto, but it is because they're typically the quick, agile sort. In FFXI, they're the exact opposite, so even though they own for melee they didn't fit my style and as such I made a mithra since they basically have the stats of an elf in other games. I basically repeated the same thing on my mithra, except I only levelled most of the melee ones to 10-15 this time and partied right away to try to catch back up to my friends who hadn't completely started back over and were already in the 40s and 50s with their first job.

All of that created a really nice nest egg and left me with a bunch of beastman seals to boot. Hell, my Elvaan (who is my main mule now) still has ~200 beastman's seals on him that I need to use someday for more gil since they have BC20 and BC30 now (RDM30 is his highest job).

Once you get to higher levels though, many new avenues of making gil open up. ENMs, NMs, crafting (with the ability to farm your own materials when it is cost-effective), etc. You can also play the AH and buy an item low then wait for it to inflate and sell it high. I've made as much as 4-5 million in one week just doing that... like when the change to Valkurm Emperor hit and everyone flooded the market with hairpins lowering their price drastically; anyone who has played this game for a while could easily have predicted that they'd return to normal and even inflate in price beyond their old peak... so just buy one on each mule/toon you have and cash in once the market re-adjusts.

Plenty of ways to make money if you just put some thought into it.
