Alternate leveling spots @ 75! What were your experiences?

OK, so I am tired of the same old leveling spots all the time. Nothing wrong with Deco Weapons or Statues, but how often do you go all the way to sky, only to find every camp taken? I have heard a lot of people on these boards mention leveling in places OTHER than sky at 75, so I wanted to get some input!

Seems like the 2 I hear mentioned most often are Rams/Birds in Lufaise Meadows, and Demons in Uleguerand Range.

Where exactly are the Demons in Uleguerand Range? What should I know before fighting them? (is WHM 100% must have, or is /WHM good enough? can PLD and NIN tank equally well? etc etc) How much exp can I expect per kill without chain? How much if I reach chain 5? Really any details you could give would be great!

Now as far as Lufaise Meadows, I know where the Rams and Birds are, but I had heared from some LS mates that the kills took a long time, and the exp wasnt very good. I also heard Great Bleat is a real pain in the butt, how do you deal with it? (Try to avoid the rams unless all birds are dead is all I can guess..?)

And feel free to mention ANY alternate leveling spots you have come up with at 75. Seems like most NA parties on Remora like to cram in to sky until nobody is getting good exp, I am hoping you all can point me to some alternate spots smile.gif

Just a suggestion, the usual exp penalty that is assessed in limit cap areas doesn't apply to limit exp(merit points) so for some fun you could exp in say, the 3rd flor of a promy lol. I actually did this a few times, and it was fun as hell fighting @lvl 30 again, and there's no shortage of mobs.

I've always found Uleg. Range to be a pain in the ass to get to the camp, mostly due to those truesight mobs, I think Taurus? But exp'ing there is pretty decent, it reminded me of my exp experience before 75, ie all the mobs were IT or more so the exp is smooth. For SURE don't exp here if anyone else is around, cause it's not worth the time.

nah Lufaise Meadows is a good spot to lvl at... you basically go chain1-4 on the birds and go chain 5 on the rams for 250+ EXP...and you kill fast with a SATA person with a BLM to MB it.

Uleguerand range is a great place to level, barring the fact that it IS a pain in the ass to get to the camps, it can support a few parties at least. SAM parties work quite well there as well wink.gif

For Uleguerrand, the upper plateau around Jormy is best. Roaming camp on either side of the little valley-thing that leads up to Jormy's domain... so not really "around" him, but just before getting to him on his level.

The mobs are basically as soft as Decos, but they have 5 minute repops and the demons can potentially give ~250 XP on the higher chains if you catch them at their high-end pop.

My record there is only Chain 15 as of now, but we didn't lose chain due to lack of mobs. We lost it because the RDM inexplicably went to help the BRD pull all of the sudden and 50% of our melees went without haste as a result. It doesn't sound like much, but those of us who merit a lot know that you get a feeling for when a chain dies and when you keep it, and we barely lost the chain... 2 out of 4 DDs having haste (no RNG, so haste did matter) would have kept it going indefinitely.

Echo of what's been said here pretty much. You can EXP in the upper 60's in Al'Taieu, and at 75, all Aw'Aern in Ru'Hmet check IT, so with their reraises and whatnot, it's a virtually endless supply of IT mobs.

Sea: X

PM 4-3 {Please invite me} tongue.gif
Though I have heard Sea is insane exp for the right jobs.

Thanks for all the suggestions/tips guys! Just a few questions...

So for the Demons, they have the standard Demon attacks I suppose right? That AoE slow crap, etc? I am hoping to try some place new today when I get off work. We have Dynamis later though, so I really need to maximize my time... I already have a THF signed up for my exp party, so maybe it is Lufaise Meadows day... {Hmmm...}

Edit: OK, going back in forth on my LS boards with some who have Exped there before, and the mentioned needing a WHM for Stona in Lufaise Meadows. How common is the petrify move? Which mobs use it? If it is just the rams, think it would work to have a SMN healer and have him save his BP for Spring Water in the event of petrification?

Sorry, so bored at work. Can't actually PLAY the game, so trying to get everything figured out so once I AM playing the game, I can get things rolling! smile.gif

Uleguerrand Range is one of the best places to go with the right party setup... Over the last few weeks I've been spending a lot of time there leveling to get more merit points and cap the exp bar on my three jobs, and each time we've got around 15k to 30k exp in each run, at a rate of 8k to 11k per hour.

Nerely all of them are IT- to IT+ mobs, with an occasional VT+ and a very rare VT-... There are three different mob types, with demons being the highest, eyes being the middle, and Tauras the weakest. It's really great exp though with the right PT setup, and pretty easy too. It's really nice to see a lot of the chains for 200+ exp too for once. The highest I've got so far is chain 12 for 235 exp, which is pretty nice considering you're chaining mostly IT Demons and not the weak VT- weapons or bones, it's hard to get higher than that though since they tend to spread out in groups across the area.

It's dangerous if you're not careful though, they repop in about 10 minutes and agro and link from very far away... It's pretty normal to expect to have a few deaths in some PTs, but the overall exp is worth it.

I've had more fun exping there than any other place at 75, I recommend it. tongue.gif

Just keep in mind, need a BRD or at least a RDM to sleep mobs, because if you roam (which you basically have to for the best exp), you will get links at some point... Also, if your PT is full of idiots, don't go there.. Idiots + IT mobs that agro + falling into painfully obvious holes = bad exp.

I have only been there once or twice, and I was always just following somebody not really paying attention tongue.gif I know how to get TO Uleguerrand Range, its just the part after that I need help with >.>

Go in, hug the right wall, take the canyon+tunnel to the right.

Once you get through the tunnel into the next open area, go down into the little "valley" thing and continue up the hill that you get to once you go down into the valley.

Once you get to the top of the hill, you'll find another canyon+tunnel... go through them like before. Watch out for holes on the hills you're walking up, and if you see eternal ice in the tunnels click it for a key item that will supposedly help you back up if you fall into a pit... I have the key item but I've never had occasion to use it.

Basically, it's canyon+tunnel to hill to canyon+tunnel a few times until you're at the top. I don't know actual compass directions you'll be going, but it is pretty straightforward. Once you get to a ramped canyon-thing that leads up to a more or less flat surface, you're there. If you see a big ass ice blue dragon, turn around and go back to the last ramp you walked up and camp around the top of that ramp because you're where you want to be.

Tauruses are truesight so watch out for them, the rest of the stuff aggros just like other incarnations of the same mob type. Best bet is usually to break for the next canyon if you get Taurus aggro and hope you don't link too much on the way, then kill it. Just fight them with your target unlocked so you can turn your back on Mortal Ray if/when they use it and avoid doom.

For me, I like getting three other people and going to Bibiki bay to clean house in the higher tier area of Dhalmels. It's pretty sick exp when you get RNG NIN BRD XXX (BLM, WHM, RDM...any mage, really). Dhalmels go down fast, and you can chain up to 8-10ish easily for 200+ per kill.

Also, it's easier making those parties than finding six people that want/can go to Demons or Lufaise. >_>

I had wondered about that! I always wanted to try and take a partial party to fight lower tier mobs but didn't want to invite some random strangers to come along and try a theory out. Thanks for adding that much less conventional solution, I will have to try that some time!

It's actually a blast if you get some friends and go there. I was messing around the whole time trying to MPK some friends, but the BRD and RDM I went with were too good at sleeping. sad.gif

It's also nice for PLD, since they can actually wear DD gear instead of normal tanking gear.

In lufaise great bleat isn't a problem if you just bring a WHM. Ammoburns with NIN tanks can run this area. Birds are weak to RNGs and rams use berserk so you just bury them like you would dhamels in bibiki.

We do birds til chain 3 then pull the 2 rams for chains 4 and 5 for high exp (250+). Great bleat isn't annoying if you have a whm who only uses divine seal + erase for that move only. Hell a ram was close last night so I just pulled it for chain 2 for 240. Great bleat also won't affect your pt if your tank doesn't get hit, so having his HP dropped to 300 really isn't all that detrimental. 2k+ sidewinder is normal on a zerked ram and one WS will kill one from half life to 0. Birds are also quick to kill (for RNGs anyway) when you are doing close to 200 per shot with a BRD. Definitely use bow/gun here though because acids seem useless and Holy procs aren't that hot. 5 minute repops on mobs here too so by the time you are getting to sorta far pulls the close ones are popping back up.

About exping in lvl capped areas, yea that's great and all but at 30 you have no refresh, no good WSs and pretty much anything else that makes exping at higher lvls so much easier, and low lvl exping such a pain. Just keep that in mind. I don't think I ever had a lvl 30 pt that could pull in anything higher than 3k an hour without a Plvl which you won't get in a capped area.

EXP is very good at U. Range and L. Meadows

U. Range = A pain in the arse to go to the camp. I always follow someone, so I don't remember where to go. Cycle off eyes, kindreds, and taurus mobs. When pulling, you'll probably get a link, so watch out for that. Also watch out for Mortal Ray from the taurus mobs.

L. Meadows = You shouldn't get aggro getting to this camp; no oils or powders needed ^^. Cycle off big birds and rams. Also have a NIN tank for the rams because they can do some HP down move, but I've never experienced that when I tank w/ my NIN.

Just sharing my experiences ^^;

I feel your angst about going all the way to sky to find out all camps are taken. So a friend of mine took me to lufaise meadows and OMG... this place makes me feel like PRE-patch dmg, 15-1700 dmg sidewinders (with brd) on the sim-type birds. There are 2 camp spots for this area that i know of, one is the entrance tot he field after the tunnel, and the 2nd one is near the cave on the north side. the north side camp is hella fun cuz u get so many links lol, faster exp too. and if u guys get a link, as long as the rng has minuetx2 he can solo a bird link '.'b we had various pt setups for this area, like pld whm rng brd thf rdm (wasnt bad) then we did rdm brd brd rng thf nin (lol fun) then i had a brd rdm rng rng nin thf (we got like chain #21 i think). A note about the mobs, the birds are highly resistant to sleep and lullaby so dont bother unless u got a maxed out rdm with enfeebs, the rams do some stupid HP down which really sux so rdm/whm or anything /whm is perfect.

sorry post hella messy '.'
